Legend Spirit by Montblanc is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2016, the nose behind this composition is Olivier Cresp. The top notes unfold with grapefruit, bergamot and pink pepper; the heart reveals aquatic notes, lavender and cardamom; while the base notes settle on white musk, white woods, cashmere wood and oakmoss.

  • For me, it’s a 9 out of 10. I don’t give it 10 because it lasts very little (two to three hours), but it cheers me up and gives energy to the day. I’ve had it since October and I’m over the moon. It combines brilliantly with other citrus scents like Odyssey Homme or Myself Le Parfum. Although it may seem youthful, its freshness and muskiness surpass it. It’s perfect for daily use without seeking something unusual. I like it more than Invictus or the reference Arabic scents, although the Seoul ones from Zara come close in terms of freshness. Jeremy Fragrance is right: it smells like a clean, neat person, which is why it doesn’t stand out. The price is moderate, although there are cheaper options like the Arabic scents, but these don’t offer the same pleasant freshness. I’ve only tried it with Zara, and it’s another world; I need to test the Maison Alhambra Expose Blanc clone. If I continue at this rate, I’ll finish the 100 ml bottle before Christmas. I recommend it 100% for all seasons. Safe purchase, guaranteed fresh and clean scent.

  • I absolutely love it; it’s one of my favourites among blue fragrances. I recommend it blindly: it’s versatile and pleasant. The only flaw is the longevity; being citrus and aquatic, it doesn’t project or last long, which is painful given the price. However, it’s a great success for situations where you don’t want something complex or ostentatious. It’s a masterpiece by a great perfumer, but the longevity doesn’t help.

For me, this fragrance is pure summer. It blends fruity and marine notes with lavender and pink pepper that freshen the air. Although it’s described as citrusy, the grapefruit dominates the bergamot, giving it a creamier rather than spicy touch. As it dries down, the musk adds an irresistible allure. The longevity is around five hours with a moderate sillage, but it’s an excellent choice for everyday wear: simple, affordable, and easy to wear.

  • José Peligros

It’s a fresh fragrance for everyday wear, without any grand pretensions. On my skin, it lasts a maximum of three or four hours. By the way, I believe the price has risen unreasonably.

  • Marceldonze

A very well-crafted aroma that conveys maximum cleanliness. However, its longevity is disappointing for this price. It projects for only two hours, the first of all. What a pity because it smells good. I bought the 200 ml bottle and won’t be buying it again, as there are alternatives with much better performance at this price. I bought it alongside Zara’s Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes; we wore them above 30°C, and the Zara one lasted longer and was cheaper.

Some call it the ‘Invictus for the mature man’, but to me it sounds like a teenage, generic scent. I grew tired of the original Paco Rabanne for being too synthetic and cloying; this Montblanc Legend Spirit is a plain, white take on that hit. It’s another commercial entry in the Legend saga, lacking much imagination but well-crafted by Olivier Cresp. It smells similar to the original Invictus, minus the laurel note, with an aquatic touch that makes it fresher and more versatile, edging towards the discontinued Invictus Aqua. It lasts half as long as the Rabanne, around 4-5 hours with a weak trail. Perfect for gifting to boys aged 18 to 35 who want something safe and don’t want to splash out 80 euros on a basic Rabanne.

Who is it for? Someone young; it’s delicious, very sharp, and everyone loves it. Super fresh by day and night too. THE SCENT DOES LAST (make sure to buy the original; it will last and project well). Longevity: 5 hours on skin without losing potency, then it drops to skin-scent. On clothes, it lasts 24 hours, clear and light but noticeable. Projection: 2-3 hours at over a metre; people look at me on public transport, then it drops to 30 cm, noticeable only when hugging. Age: youthful, from 16 upwards; I can’t picture a 50-year-old man wearing this, though smelling good is what matters. Compliments: it’s the second that has brought me the most, after Armani Code; many people my age (23) say it smells unique, rich, masculine, and slightly sweet. The downside: it runs out, haha. It’s cheap, smells amazing, high quality, and long-lasting. What more could you want?

  • I tried it 2 or 3 hours ago on my skin and can’t smell anything; honestly, I forgot the scent, so in my opinion it has nothing outstanding or relevant.

  • At first, you notice the grapefruit and pink pepper, which balance the scent and prevent it from being too piercing. It gives off a vibe of being clean yet mischievous. I wear it at the office and on days above 31 degrees.

  • A fragrance that many start their collection with; it smells fantastic and is almost like Invictus without the sweetness, more citrusy with bergamot and grapefruit. After a while it feels clean but retains that sharp acidic kick. Ideal for heat above 20°C or autumn, though it fades in cooler weather. Best for the gym or short outings, as its longevity is low (I have a 2017 bottle; newer ones might be even shorter-lived); by the end of the day it’s skin-scent only, very intimate. Lasts 4-5 hours with some bursts. Suitable for young people, between 15 and 21, perhaps up to 25; I can’t imagine anyone over 30 wearing Legend Spirit in the street unless they’re heading to the gym. A top fragrance; if not for the longevity, it would compete with its rivals. I’d give it 9/10, but realistically, it’s a 6-7/10.

  • Excellent and accessible fragrance, perfect for everyday wear, especially in summer. On my skin and clothes, it has very good performance, with a fresh, youthful, and energising aroma. I usually lean towards woody fragrances in my collection, and this has been an excellent option to alternate. It’s ideal for informal occasions and even for the gym, thanks to its clean, versatile, and revitalising character. My final rating is 7.7/10.

  • Quite a basic scent, aquatic moving to fresh. Lasts well, but I’d go for a perfume with more personality; it conveys nothing.

  • Rich scent but nothing spectacular. My girlfriend says it smells like a man, and strange as it may sound, it lasts my six hours with incredibly rich sillage. It’s my first perfume and I hold it in high regard. Scent 7/10, Sillage 8/10, Longevity 7/10, Compliments 9/10. I still don’t know how my evaluation criteria will be, but this is a good way to start.

  • Ideal fragrance for daytime use, especially in temperate climates. It’s another of my daily wear fragrances, for work, office, sport… It’s generated plenty of compliments, especially during the first two hours. It lasts me about five hours, but the last hour is very soft. Of the Montblanc line, this is the easiest to wear, although personally I smell or notice the Legend more.

  • Easy-to-wear fragrance. Fresh, aquatic, and citrusy to a lesser degree, ideal for hot days. Its price ranges from $30 to $40, it’s affordable, and its longevity is average for fresh scents: projects well for two hours, then stays on the skin until five. I recommend carrying a decant to reapply. Unlike Hawas, which could be a competitor, this lacks that fruity side and leans more aquatic; it’s possible to buy both and the scents won’t be that similar.

  • JonathanJavier

I had my heart set on this Legend Spirit because reviews painted it as the peak of clean, pleasant scents; I almost fell for the hype and bought the 200ml bottle, which was hard to find even as a sample. Fortunately, I tried a decant. Frankly, I’m disappointed because I almost imagined living in this perfume, only to find a nice scent with nothing more. I just notice the grapefruit and pink pepper at the start: rich, lively, refreshing. The pepper isn’t spicy but aromatic; I love that accord. I don’t feel the famous aquatic notes; the concept always amused me, where’s the water from? Not the sea, not a river, not a siphon, what water smells like this? It’s hard for me to formulate an abstract water scent. Some say it has calone, but it’s not listed; it seems putting generic notes goes wrong. Something curious happened: when I first tried it, I noticed a lot of fresh lavender and didn’t dislike it, but over time I can’t perceive it anymore; I don’t know if the liquid is damaged or if I need to recalibrate my nose. When it dries down, it fades, and the base of woods and musk… pleasant but doesn’t say much to me. It feels synthetic, and although I like how it’s crafted, it leans generic. It’s rated more masculine than it is; between the pepper, lavender, and subtle oak moss, there’s a certain vibe, but very thin. On my skin, it seems more for a young lad than a man. The performance is mediocre; after four hours, it’s barely felt. It’s a shame the 30ml version exists; it’s not enough even for a trip to the coast. On top of that, in Argentina, it’s not cheap either. If it were, it would be a steal, surely breaking sales in a Natura Kaiak. Honour to those who deserve it; it gets compliments for those seeking them. For me, ultimately, I approve it just enough, 6/10, stretching to 6.5. In the future, I’ll restrain myself with these famous citrus-aquatics, because it seems that in perfumery as in life, pleasing everyone comes with little personality. Edit: after two weeks of testing, I’m raising the rating to a 7; with slight overapplication and in temperate climates, it can last over five hours before dropping to skin-level (though clearly not designed for temperate climates), and spraying on clothes leaves a rich bubblegum aftertaste that I don’t perceive on my skin and deduce is my problem. I recommend trying how it suits you.

What a rich, fresh, and citrusy scent. Super versatile for the price, excellent for daily use. It’s very nice and simple, one of the best from Montblanc. Rating: 9/10.

  • JoseMartin

A versatile and pleasant fragrance for everyday wear, ideal for summer and spring, suitable for everything: home, work, walks. I perceive it as citrusy and fresh at the start. I think the musk gives it a slightly sweet but very soft touch. It projects for a maximum of two hours, then drops to skin-level. It doesn’t aim to be revolutionary; it’s simple but enjoyable.

  • Nariz Feliz

I love it; it’s a scent that’s a joy to wear. Daily use, very pleasant feeling. Perhaps the performance is questionable and it tends to be discreet. It’s that kind of perfume you can apply without thinking; it radiates good feelings to those who smell it up close.

  • antoniiosm

Clean and fresh aroma, one of the best value-for-money options for hot days. The longevity is decent, around five or six hours.

  • kevinbrand

Smells freshly laundered, citrusy, and super fresh. The opening is brutal and turns heads, but the longevity is weak: about three hours on the skin. Worth it for that explosive start. Ideal for carrying in a decant or reapplying throughout the day; although it’s pricey for an EDT, many recommend it for the gym, though I find the sillage too invasive for that setting. Better suited for everyday wear, normal activities, and especially spring.

  • Not an interesting fragrance at all. Usually recommended as an alternative to Invictus, but it’s better to smell like everyone else and use this. No one is going to think it’s better than Invictus in any way. That said, the longevity and trail are excellent, but it smells like a failed attempt at something very common.

  • marceloar87

Smells clean and fresh, with a decent projection. Works brilliantly in the office and also for heading to the gym.

  • What a lovely scent! Smells clean and everyone loves it. Lasts about four hours on my skin, perfect for cold weather and for wearing to work every day.

  • Although it doesn’t last as long… for the price, it’s very good. The scent is excellent for hot weather. It lasts between four and six hours, but the projection is only noticeable for about an hour.

  • tiduskold

I find it exquisite, a very pleasant scent. Perfect for everyday wear in summer. It has a respectable longevity of between 4 and 6 hours; with a pocket atomiser you can reapply in a moment and you’re good to go.

  • Well then, a typical Invictus-style fragrance: fresh, clean, mildly sweet and sticky, though this one is a bit more citrusy and clean. Nothing remarkable in reality; in my opinion, it’s not worth it when there are much cheaper alternatives that perform better. The only use I give it is for the gym, where it just sits in my training bag. For less money and for more daily use, you have better options such as: Hayaati (the black one), Original Hawass, or Ice Alhambra Victorioso Nadja. All are between $16 and $24 and are much better value. It’s worth noting it will be reformulated and they’ll remove an ingredient classified as harmful, though I don’t recall which one specifically.

  • It’s a citrus fragrance with a main note of grapefruit or pomelo, slightly serious, not feeling very youthful, and its citrus notes are soft as it’s an EDT. I see it for the office on days or afternoons, not so much for the evening. I like it, but I must say it leaves a little to be desired. I don’t feel it’s particularly unique; I agree with those who say you can find equally or better scents for less money. However, if you like Montblanc lines, it’s a good option.

  • DiegoSupertramposo

Fresca and pleasant fragrance; no one in my circle has disliked it. Smells clean and, depending on how you wear it, can be youthful or office-appropriate for spring/summer. Longevity is moderate (around 6 hours on my skin), but it’s worth it at $35. If you’re charged more than $50, don’t buy it—there are better options at that price. People say it resembles Invictus, and I’m not lying; they do smell similar (both synthetic), but Invictus is far more expensive, so I wouldn’t recommend it. There are higher-quality perfumes for the $80 price of the 100ml bottle. Usage: 9/10 for collection, office, and daily wear in spring/summer. Versatility: 8/10, not suitable for cold weather. Longevity: 6/10, adequate for this type of fragrance. Value: 10/10 if you can find it for under $50. Scent appeal: 8/10, people like it because it smells clean.

  • Hello, mates. I bought this on recommendation and tested it thoroughly. It starts citrusy and fresh, but the musk and cashmere give it a clean medicinal vibe, like a doctor’s smock or hospital. As it dries, everything blends into something akin to a lemon soda (Sprite or Seven Up). I describe it this way so you can picture it clearly. Ideal for calm, cheerful, and tidy types. If you want something clean for school, uni, or the office without any fuss, it’s a good option, though a bit generic. On me: lasts 4 hours, noticeable for 1 hour, bubble for 1 hour, trail for 2 hours, and sillage for 1 minute. Recommended as a signature, sporty, and office scent. Don’t use it for parties, dates, with friends, formal or semi-formal events. For ages 10 and up. 6/10: fresh, clean, and friendly.

  • My first designer fragrance I remember, bought blind. I atomised it and it smells so good… I still remember that first time and I like it just as much now. If it lasted longer, I’d keep only this for warm days. I should have bought the 200ml version.

  • Jorge Fonseca

A rounded fragrance, ideal for daily wear, smelling clean and masculine, very aquatic but without smelling cheap like Odyssey Aqua. Its strength is not longevity, but for the price, don’t expect more: around 2 hours of moderate projection and 4 on the skin. Grapefruit, the aquatic notes, and woods stand out. I would buy it for life; it’s a scent that will never go out of style.

  • Simply excellent. It’s timid comfort-cleanliness. I imagine expensive hotel sheets, a sense of cleanliness and quality. Perfect for heat and the gym, with a light sillage and projection within centimetres. Its weakness is its greatest virtue: it lasts little on skin, under 4 hours, but on clothes up to 8, just up close. It’s an EDT. It starts citrusy, slightly sweet, nothing stinging, which fades quickly. It moves to a sweet musky heart, aquatic touches, and woods like a construction supermarket with a hint of lavender. As it disappears, the base is slightly woody mossy, only felt by smelling directly at the clothes or skin. The clothes smell like high-quality detergent; it serves to aromatise poorly washed garments. It’s a white fragrance: neat, slightly sweet, without creamy or heavy notes, bright but not dazzling. Rating: 8.5/10. If it lasted and projected a bit more, it would be perfect.

  • A satisfactory fragrance, faultless. An Invictus-style scent, aquatic grapefruit, and very clean. Gives the sensation of deodorant or shower gel. Ideal for daytime, post-gym, or at home after a shower. Quite good longevity, around 6 hours. Suitable for all ages, from young people to the 40-50s. It’s not here to make heads spin, but it never fails if you don’t know what to choose. For a laughable price, you can’t ask for more.

  • I don’t know much about notes as I have little experience. I’d define it as citrusy and fresh; when it dries down, it becomes fresh-sweet. The performance is terrible. I use it at home just to get through the bottle quickly. Zero sillage, it projects nothing. Longevity is even worse, around 30 minutes on the skin. It lasts very little on skin unless you press your nose right where you applied it. I wouldn’t recommend it despite costing around £20, as you’re throwing money away. Only use it if you prefer not to smell like anything.

  • I do not recommend it. It’s a very basic fragrance, and the worst part is that neither the projection nor the longevity lasts at all.

  • Fresh and pleasant, though it doesn’t last nearly long enough. I take it to the gym and don’t get any compliments, but the price and value do deliver.

  • Andresguerrero

Simple, basic, and straight to the point, yet it’s brilliant. Smells like classic Invictus, akin to a good deodorant. Sweetish, faintly citrusy, and aquatic. Masculine and youthful, it sets a standard everyone recognises. Perfect for daily wear, school, or the office. It’s not challenging; it’s a blind buy. Women like it a lot. Versatile for almost any occasion, though not the best for evenings. During the day, it’s a guarantee. If you don’t know what to wear, this always works. It lasts 4-5 hours, but since it’s cheap, reapplying isn’t a burden. I recommend it 100% for daily use.

  • A very faint grapefruit scent with joke-level longevity and zero sillage. Lasts less than Nautica Voyage, but it smells nice.
