Descripción
Acqua di Giò Profondo by Giorgio Armani is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2020, this olfactory composition was created by Alberto Morillas. Upon release, the fragrance unfolds marine notes, aquozone, bergamot and green mandarin; the heart reveals rosemary, lavender, cypress and lentisc resin; and the base settles on mineral notes, musk, patchouli and amber.

Fresh, rich marine aroma, ideal for the heat, something elegant.
One of my favourites from my collection of over 50 perfumes, even ahead of many niche scents. It’s a very addictive fragrance; I recommend buying it blind. Although the new ‘Bache’ isn’t the same as the old one and in my opinion is worse, bergamot and those marine notes predominate, a perfect masculine marvel for winter. Scent: 9.7/10 (if you like bergamot, it’s a 10). Longevity: 8/10, over 6-7 hours for a freshie. Projection: strong for the first 2 hours, then moderate but with a large trail. Price: accessible. Conclusion: one of the best for summer; if you find the old Bache, buy blind.
One of my favourites currently. Exquisite, with incredible longevity and trail. It’s very fresh, citrusy, and elegant. It’s a safe shot, very easy to like. I’m sure I’ll buy another when this one runs out.
Without a doubt, the king of aquatics in my opinion: fresh, citrusy, marine, elegant. It shouldn’t be missing from your collection and you must try it at least once in your life.
Delicious fragrance, citrusy, marine, fresh, easy to wear and please, ideal for heat and daytime. Longevity on skin is good (approx. 8 hours), strong projection for the first 2 hours and medium trail; afterwards it stays close to the skin but it’s a delicious aroma that you love to smell at every moment. For the heat season it’s supremely perfect and refreshing. I’ve received several compliments and it’s one of my favourites, without a doubt.
It’s the perfume I use most, even if it’s not my favourite. It has a captivating fragrance without being extravagant, perfect for everyday wear. Its aquatic notes take me to a day by the sea, with silence and calm, evoking peace. I have many fragrances and love trying new ones, but this is the only one I’ve repurchased. In short, a safe bet for everyday wear.
Acqua di Giò Profondo captures the best of the original marine DNA with a more modern and sophisticated twist. From the first spray, that clean aquatic freshness transforms into something more robust thanks to the mineral, incense, and amber notes. What impressed me most is its versatility: it works perfectly on warm days or mild evenings, whether for work, dinner, or the gym. It projects cleanliness, serenity, and maturity without being heavy. The longevity is excellent for an aquatic: between 7 and 9 hours with moderate projection that leaves a pleasant trail, especially at the start. It doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel but improves the original’s legacy with elegance. It’s a safe, classy choice for anyone seeking freshness without sacrificing presence. A must-have if you like refined marine styles.
Acqua di Gio Profondo, with my perfume-trained nose, is a delicatessen for everyday wear. It has wonderfully charming marine notes that transport you wherever the breeze takes you, with standout citrus and fresh touches that shine in the heat, rich and making it elegant yet not formal, but sophisticated. The quality is evident in the scent, projection, and how authentic it smells, unlike many imitations on the market. I feel sorry that there isn’t another marine that smells this good. Longevity is decent (6-8 hours) and it’s one of the ones I’ve received the most compliments on, mainly from men. Words cannot express it, sincerely.
An exquisite aroma; I don’t mind it being generic as I’m not off to the next Cannes Film Festival. At first, it smells like the original Acqua di Gio, which I never liked; it even seems to have incense (perhaps ambroxan or ambergris) and reminds me of Profumo, which I had to gift away for that note. But soon that little twist appears that I adore, shifting towards a sweet finish. It’s one of my favourites of this season and, although my skin is generous, it lasts quite well. I recommend it if you don’t need to be mega-exclusive and live in Monaco.
I’m in love with this perfume from my entire collection; it’s my favourite. It’s fresh, elegant, distinctive, long-lasting and projects… it has it all. If we’re talking about spring and summer, it’s perfect.
I’ve loved this perfume ever since it launched; that fresh scent is a total hit. My only personal gripe is that on my skin it literally lasts two hours, proven! I bought it from two different stores, Siman and Fragrancenet, and the result was the same. It’s a shame because I read that others get eight hours out of it. Does anyone else experience the same thing?
Hello, I wore it to check something I already knew: it lasts an hour. Literally. I don’t know if it’s the worst I’ve tried, alongside Prada’s Luna Rossa Ocean, in terms of longevity. It’s not something that obsesses me, but at this price, I’d be running for the hills.
I’ve tried other Acqua di Gio versions, the EDT and the Parfum, and without a doubt, the one that lasts the longest on me is this, the Profondo. It stays on clothes and projects after 8 hours. Once I wore it at 11 am; after 9 hours, while indoors and hot, I got into a car with two people, and they commented that my perfume still smelled quite strong. So I say this perfume easily lasts more than 8 hours with decent projection. Although yes, I applied about 10 sprays in total.
A tremendous perfume. I had it a year ago and it was my favourite; I used it for everything without doubt. I will buy it again.
A great perfume. The opening blends aquatic notes with sparkling citrus. The dry down is aromatic, with an amber, musky and mineral base that lends elegance and masculinity. It’s a modern version of the 90s classic that you must have if you love this Armani line. The price is a bit high for its performance, which has dropped with the new formula. I have a 2024 batch and it’s not the same as before; previously it was a ‘beast mode’, now it follows the trend of designer houses. If you want to maintain the freshness right after application, get a decant. It suits everything: summer, spring and even autumn. Very versatile. Final rating: 8.5/10.
Faithful to the Acqua di Giò DNA, it projects body and character after the typical freshness of the line. The underlying cypress is noticeable and sets it apart. The issue is that on me, projection and longevity are very low. It’s multi-purpose, elegant and casual.
I’m in love with this fragrance; it has earned me many compliments. It’s very fresh, neat and has good longevity. It’s one I would always buy again.
A simple marine scent, rich yet common, very aquatic. It’s not the ADN that suits me; it reminds me of D&G’s Light Blue but is much more skin-friendly. I wouldn’t buy it, but it could be a hit for others. Among blue fragrances, only Loewe 7 Cobalt has won me over. Perhaps if they added incense and clove, it would be more my style.
One of my favourite fresh scents for summer. The EDP blends the classic DNA with something modern and deep, ideal for heat and very easy to wear. I prefer it to the Parfum (though I haven’t tried the Elixir). Longevity is good for its type, lasting 7–8 hours. It starts intense before becoming intimate. Its only rival is the Parfum for presence, but this stands out for freshness and versatility.
Marine and fresh, even elegant, very much in the ADG line. Compared to the Parfum, they share 80% of the DNA and dry down similarly, though this one has a slightly greater difference. Longevity is not its strong suit.
Simply spectacular aroma, ultra-masculine and bringing the line closer to a younger audience. Unfortunately, longevity in the new batches is very poor: when I bought it, it lasted 6-7 hours, and now with the degraded packaging, it barely manages four hours with almost no sillage.
Very mainstream; a fragrance I’ve smelled countless times elsewhere. Quite generic and nothing spectacular… but that doesn’t make it a bad perfume, I must say!
Acqua di Giò Profondo is fresh and marine, true to its name. It has that aquatic opening that evokes breeze and cleanliness. What’s interesting is how it settles: an intimate nuance, almost human, like clean, attractive sweat. It’s not in my top tier, but I recognise its charm on hot days or for something light and elegant. It works well at close range with that serene masculinity that endures discreetly. A modern classic, safe and simple, with a sensual touch that awakens in the heat.
A citrusy beach opening that dries down to a woody-citrus scent, reminiscent of blue fragrances from the era. It’s versatile, elegant, and fresh—perfect for daily wear. People like it and it smells good, but it lasts and projects very little for the price.
Fresh and elegant when you’re looking for something quick without overthinking. It doesn’t innovate, but it has earned me compliments. Recommended for everyday wear as a signature scent.
A rich, fresh, marine men’s fragrance—the kind that makes you feel great and that everyone loves. It projects but isn’t a beast mode. You can buy it blind; it’s versatile and suitable for any occasion.
Compared to the EDP, it doesn’t last as long. It’s lovely, but I wouldn’t choose it over the classic EDP.
Not exceptional, yet I give it a happy face because it smells good. It would be perfect for daily wear; I’d buy it myself, but in-store it didn’t last at all. After two sprays, it felt weak within half an hour and had completely faded by an hour.
The opening is spectacular and the aroma exquisite, but it’s far too expensive for what it offers. It lasts about three hours on skin with a one-hour projection, which is a shame. If it were cheaper, I’d justify it, but there are better and more affordable options available.
Smells incredible; a friend gifted me a decant and I was instantly hooked. It’s fresh yet classy, with that lemon note that brings back memories. Its only flaw is longevity: on my skin, it lasts no more than 3-4 hours. Still, I adore that scent of cleanliness and sophistication.
A fragrance that has a very crisp freshness; I must say that the first time I smelled it, I said ‘ehh’, something somewhat common but pleasant, one of those easy-to-wear fragrances. After using it for several weeks, I can tell you that it remains easy to wear and enjoy; you won’t fail with this, but the magic and what I loved and hooked on is the dry down; it’s something so delicious, dry woods but so aromatic that I can stay smelling my arm or clothes just to feel that rich scent; believe me, the dry down is something brutal. Now, regarding longevity, sillage, etc., it lasts me 8 hours just by spraying it on 9 hours on the skin, and a bit more on clothes, but only the first 2 or 3 hours does it leave a noticeable sillage; after that, it’s all in personal scent or very close.
Ultra masculine. It’s a sophisticated citrus. I imagine a young, wealthy person on the Italian coast. It’s not something I would use as I prefer sweet perfumes.
Acqua di Gio Profondo no longer exists as I knew it. I’ve known since 2024 when they reformulated it into a different bottle, but there are things one only understands when they experience them again alone. I was heading to my favourite restaurant, the usual one, the one I knew by heart because I always went there with my girlfriend. We rarely arrived on time. I took the metro and sat in the same carriage where I had thought so many times, with an almost childish anxiety, ‘what if something goes wrong today?’, although I had seen it dozens of times and we always had fun. That absurd feeling of nervousness never went away while we were together. It was part of the ritual. Like the perfume. The train moves forward and the scent of Profondo still lives in my memory. Not the new one. The old one. The one from the old bottle. The one that had that mineral base that seemed wet, truly deep, like a rock under the sea. That perfume was a relationship in itself. It was born with me when I didn’t yet know who I was. It was the first one I bought with my own money. And I didn’t choose it alone. I remember the shop. We walked in without hurry. She was testing blotters as if she knew more than the salespeople. She looked at me, brought it close to my neck, and said: ‘I want this for you’. She didn’t say ‘I like it’. Nor did she say ‘it’s okay’. She said, without any doubt… ‘I want this for you’. I felt it too. It wasn’t just a scent; it was a promise. Of maturity, of long nights, of something that was just beginning. I left there with the bag in hand and the feeling of having made an important decision, although I didn’t know exactly why. The metro stops. I transfer to the next line and the memories pile up without asking permission. It’s normal, I think. It had to happen. You can’t walk the same places expecting memory to be discreet. Every escalator is a scene in my head. Every platform, a conversation we had somewhere. Profondo was there in almost all of them: in the quick goodbyes, in the impromptu dinners, in the hugs where the neck was just at the right height for her to breathe deeply without realising. I arrive at my destination. I get off the metro and, for a second, I look towards the ticket office. I still do. With an illusory, automatic hope. That’s where she used to wait for me. Sitting down, looking at her phone, raising her eyes just as she saw me appear. She’s not there today. She won’t be there anymore. Maybe one day she’ll come with someone else. Maybe other couples will sit there, knowing nothing about us. Maybe I’ll return with someone else too. But she won’t be there. And although the place remains the same, it will no longer be the same. Like Profondo. The new version exists. It’s in shop windows, in advertisements, in clean and orderly testers. It resembles it, of course. I recognise the DNA. But it’s missing something. That mineral edge, that salty sensation that didn’t try to please everyone. Now it’s more polished, more correct, more commercial. It doesn’t fill me. It doesn’t speak to me. It’s like seeing someone you loved deeply… and realising that nothing of what once lived there remains. The scent that marked me so much now lives only in memory. Or in old batches, hidden like relics. Old bottles sold at gold prices. And there appears the uncomfortable question. Is it worth paying so much to go back? Is it worth clinging to a scent to relive moments that no longer exist? Or is it healthier to let the past remain exactly that: the past? I could buy one of those bottles. Use it carefully, like someone listening to an old vinyl knowing that each playback wears it down a bit more. I could close my eyes and feel the metro again, the laughter, the delays, when she managed to be taller than me on the escalator. Or I could accept that some things were perfect precisely because they ended. That Profondo, like that relationship, completed its cycle. That not everything is made to last, but to mark. I leave the restaurant hours later. My neck is now perfumed with another fragrance, and the scent stays there. I walk back without hurry. I see younger couples walking near the place. They remind me of what I once was. Maybe I won’t buy that Profondo with the old batch again. Maybe I’ll buy the new EDT version. I still don’t know. The only clear thing is this: despite a perfume being reformulated, this one will always remain intact in memory. And there, curiously, it smells better than ever.
It lasted me about 4 hours. It seemed very expensive for what little it offered (on me). If it smells very nice.
Exceptional scent; if you are of the type who likes to smell like a man, something like marine, the cleanest you can imagine but without being chemical, and a slight fruity touch, this is for you; the scent profile is very good; the only thing that lowers it is the longevity; I don’t see it lasting more than 4 and a half hours; but if you have money and you are 30, this is one of the best options; obviously, if you don’t mind reapplying; one of the few times I find it hard to give a note, 9.something out of 10 if you don’t mind reapplying, 7/10 if what you are looking for is a perfume that meets all aspects.
One of my favourite perfumes. Great projection. Good sillage. It’s a fragrance that might seem common but to me it’s addictive. It’s the perfume that has made me receive the most compliments, and I have quite a few and they are good. Its opening is explosive but elegant, it projects a lot and leaves a huge sillage for the first half hour. I’ve read that it doesn’t last long for many people, but after the first hour and a half of projecting, the dry down lasts me another two hours on the skin. I imagine it depends a lot on the type of skin each person has. For a perfume that focuses on the opening and projection, its longevity is quite good.
This Acqua di Gio is marine, fresh, mineral, and earthy.
Clarification: I’m talking about the version with the new 2024 bottle. Although Fragrantica has its profile, many people leave reviews on the page for the original 2020 version (the all-blue bottle) which is no longer sold. To cut to the chase: my favourite was Profondo Lights, a limited edition that was almost impossible to get. Looking for something for summer in a department store, I picked it up blindly (no tester), knowing it had been reformulated and hoping they had fixed the issues I didn’t like in the original. My impressions: The opening changes significantly from the original. The 2020 version was strong, coarse, mineral, and very sharp; in this new 2024 version, I noticed it was more alcoholic and lighter, as if they had removed that characteristic mineral and metallic part. Performance: While the 2020 version wasn’t great in terms of longevity and projection, this 2024 version is much (but much) lighter. After a few minutes, the DNA of the original appears, but in a very delicate way. Because it’s so delicate, after 3 or 4 hours (or even less), there’s almost no trace left. Projection: The sillage is low, bordering on non-existent, even with several sprays. Conclusion: I see it as suitable for someone looking for something light, fresh, masculine, and who is a huge fan of the brand; someone who has no problem paying the price and reapplying every 2 or 3 hours to last through an extreme heat day. It’s useless in autumn and winter. I wouldn’t buy it again. The performance is far too far from its price, and I don’t recommend paying full price.
It’s my preferred men’s fragrance, but its sillage is non-existent and the longevity is between 4 to 6 hours on the skin. I love it, but they should improve that.
I absolutely love this perfume; it’s my favourite citrus scent. The mandarin and bergamot, combined with those marine notes, make it super fresh, clean, and leave you feeling very comfortable. It’s a 10/10. As an EDT, it doesn’t have much sillage or longevity, but that’s typical for citrus and fresh fragrances; it’s still ideal for everyday wear.
