  • My story with this fragrance is one of unfulfilled desire and heartbreak. What a shame that it no longer exists, discontinued and lost forever in a sea of unfairly forgotten perfumes. How often do I remember it… Forest Rain was meant to be a shared gift, thanks to its unisex sillage (more masculine than feminine, yet performing beautifully on women). It turns out Kiehl’s, a house I usually find irrelevant, gave birth to the only perfume that truly breaks my heart when I think I could have had it and let it slip away. When I finally decided to go and buy it, just a few days after trying it, I was told it had just been discontinued. It had flown off the shelves, and the little that could be bought online back then was expensive. And me, surprise, I didn’t have a penny to spare at the time. I preferred to spend my euros on travel. I thought perhaps they might reissue it. All that remains of Forest Rain are memories, sensations, and a painful yet beautiful status of impossibility that I’m ashamed to admit. Where are you? Why haven’t you returned? Why didn’t you let me try? It was a scent that left a very strong, almost emotional imprint on me. Soft, cool, soapy, like an elegant shaving lotion, and yes, to him, that person who was in my life and is no longer: and just as he left, Forest Rain did the same, both reaching that legendary status of what could have been but wasn’t. How well it was made, how long-lasting and determined it was. It was pure forest, magnificence, hundreds of promises.
