  Smells nice, but it has those slightly dirty nuances shared with the Ylang Tabac from the same house, which didn’t really convince me either. From the outset, it feels quite blended, so the name could be misleading; while fresh notes like neroli or bergamot dominate, there’s still that underlying dirty vibe. Over time, the freshness fades to make way for a more intense rose and vanilla. It feels like good quality, though I don’t find it very projecting at first (I tried the Ylang Tabac on someone else, which is the best way to judge projection, and it was noticeable there). This one, unlike the other, doesn’t declare castoreum, but it shares the musk which can also suggest that dirtiness; in fact, it’s been like this until the advent of white musks that give a clean sensation, although to me they tend to smell dusty. It’s alright, but the exorbitant price combined with the fact that it doesn’t win me over means I’ll look elsewhere. I see that Ambrette Rose and Jasmin Cuir also declare castoreum and musk, so perhaps that background I mentioned is present in these two as well and is the house’s signature.
