Born in a small town in the French Alps, Véronique Nyberg’s passion for plants was sparked by her botanist grandmother. Surrounded by the aromas of wildflowers and the natural beauty of her surroundings, Véronique chose to study sciences and finally obtained a doctorate in Organic Chemistry.

Véronique’s journey into perfumery began with an apprenticeship position in Grasse, where she worked as a quality controller of raw materials. Although she aspired to become a perfumer, she lacked the necessary training and decided to complete her doctorate first. Fate intervened when Véronique joined the Dutch headquarters of IFF as a chemist. Her subsequent training with IFF opened the doors to operational perfumery and, ultimately, she was selected to attend IFF’s perfumery school in Grasse.

During her time at the school, Véronique immersed herself in the world of perfume, learning to extract absolutes and to work with raw materials. Her first fragrance was created in New York, where she discovered the pleasures of perfume creation. On returning to Paris, she completed her training under the direction of the well-known perfumer Dominique Ropion.

Véronique Nyberg’s approach to perfume creation is driven by her passions for art, cooking and cultural fusion. An autodidact cook, she experiments with daring combinations of flavours, often drawing inspiration from her work with IFF perfumers. This collaboration has led her to discover unconventional pairings, such as the use of sandalwood in litchi harmonies.

Art plays an important role in Véronique’s life, and her interests range from drawing and painting to sculpture and other creative projects. Her appreciation for colour and texture combinations, as well as for contrasts in perception, influences her work as a perfumer.

Véronique’s fascination with green notes, probably rooted in her childhood in the Alps, is a distinctive aspect of her perfumes. She often incorporates vibrant, almost striking, green top notes into her creations. White flowers, such as orange blossom and jasmine, are also among her favourite materials to work with.

Some of her most popular fragrances include Paco Rabanne Invictus, Lancôme Tresor In Love, Mugler Alien Eau Extraordinaire, Yves Rocher Secret d’Essences Neroli, Guess Guess Seductive, Jimmy Choo Jimmy Choo Eau de Toilette, Trussardi Riflesso.

Throughout her career, Véronique Nyberg has collaborated with numerous prestigious brands, such as Armand Basi, Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera, Chopard, Davidoff, Jimmy Choo, Lancôme and Paco Rabanne. Her inspiring work is for J.F. Schwarzlose Berlin. In November 2012, this German brand was restored and returned to the market with the launch of four fragrances inspired by classic house aromas, but designed together with perfumer Veronique Nyberg to appeal to a modern consumer.
