  The launch date doesn’t match at all. I tried this years ago, but it wasn’t a two-thousand-dollar perfume; it was a nineties scent, crisp and woody, opening with galbanum, lavender and bergamot, drying down to a soft fern with pine. It wasn’t a power-dress fragrance, but rather a relaxed, formal water. It reminds me of a cross between Coty’s Aspen, Loewe’s Essence and other raw aromatics. The listed notes, excluding wood and bergamot, don’t match my memory. PS: I’ve edited to add that we sometimes try to label everything as ‘nineties’, but that label doesn’t work because there were thousands of styles in the nineties. This Henry Cottons was indeed nineties, but not in the Kenzo or Cool Water style, those cool aromatic cauldrons of the era, nor like Tommy and co., which went for a more modern, urban vibe. This smells more like posh universities, with no creative interest, East Coast, cold, Ivy League, striped scarves, wool jumpers and lobster stew.
