Descripción
Oriflame Fuse is a woody aquatic fragrance for men. Launched in 2012, this composition was created by perfumer Dora Baghriche. The top notes unfold with cypress, lime, grapefruit, ginger, and mandarin; the heart reveals bay leaf, cashmere wood, and Virginia cedar; while the base settles on musk, vetiver, sandalwood, and tonka bean.

I detect no citrus; the opening smells of nail polish and mould. By an hour it becomes a wet jumper, yes, but the cold is not noticeable because the stench warms your head. The chemical touch of the wood at five minutes only makes you wish you had fumigated it. It is slightly masculine and very industrial; perhaps suitable for a cyberpunk party with neon lights and aluminium foil. They say it is Swedish; perhaps in their cold climate it works, but here in the eternal summer it is an olfactory nightmare.
I notice nothing of citrus. The opening smells of nail polish and mould. By an hour it is a wet jumper that, ironically, warms your head with its stench. The chemical touch of the wood makes you regret wearing it at five minutes. It is slightly masculine and very industrial; perhaps for a cyberpunk party with neon lights and aluminium foil. As Oriflame is Swedish, it may work in their cold climate, but here, in the eternal summer, it is an olfactory nightmare.
I believe my previous review, written a decade ago, is no longer valid as my sense of smell was limited back then and I didn’t know the fragrance’s evolution. Now, thanks to a cold front, I’ve tried perfumes I wouldn’t normally wear, such as this Fuse. Initially, it smells of very fresh lime and grapefruit that fade quickly, giving way to ginger that lasts throughout the fragrance. What I previously described as nail polish now I would characterise as ‘ginger with anise’, perhaps due to the tangerine peel or cashmere, or the contrast between the ginger’s spice and the sandalwood’s sweetness. What I once smelled as a damp, stifling jumper I attribute to tonka bean and vetiver, notes that stand out less in the cold. I confess I left the bottle out of its box in a dark wooden drawer, away from light, but that doesn’t prevent components from degrading over the years. However, it smells just as it did when I first used it, with the difference that now it works well on cold days. Would I recommend it? To lovers of ginger and anise. Would I use it again? Certainly, but only if I moved to a cold area without sudden temperature changes, like the one I have now. In conclusion, it is a pleasant aromatic citrus, but only for winter or very frosty autumns.
