  This seems like a creation Beaufort London would have signed. Upon application, it smells of natural coffee, as if you’ve walked into a shop filled with sacks of beans, nothing ground or prepared. Then it settles into a dirty animalic base, not sweet, perhaps due to the clove. I haven’t read smoke listed in the notes, but for me, there is burnt wood, even more so than smoke. It’s an interesting olfactory experience for autumn and winter, with the necessary darkness if you wear it like a garment. The problem is the poor performance, typical of the house: the trail is short, though with generous application it can reach a metre in the first hour. It lasts longer on skin and clothes. It’s worth it for personal enjoyment, sticking your nose to the skin or clothes where you’ve applied it.

  Natural ingredients. Coffee dominates the opening, then blends with animalic notes, spices, oud, and sweet amber. The result is a dark, penetrating scent, reminiscent of Bortnikoff. Longevity and projection are average, but it lingers for a long time on the skin.

Afterwards, it leaves a dirty animalic base, perhaps due to the clove. Smoke isn’t listed in the notes, but to me it smells of burnt wood. It’s an evocative experience for the cold, with the necessary darkness. The problem is that it performs little like the house: the trail is scarce, although with generous application it can reach a metre in the first hour. It lasts longer on skin and clothes. It’s suitable for personal use, sticking your nose to the skin or clothes.

  Animal Cafe: the name alone tells you the game. It opens with natural coffee and intense spices. The drydown is dark and nocturnal from the very first minute, maintaining that aura until the end. It’s not a challenging scent, but rather one for very restricted use; the fresh coffee fades quickly to give way to damp woods, with a burnt/incense-like nuance and an acceptable animalic base. I thought it would be bolder, but it isn’t. I really like it: it’s dark, personal, and very well-constructed, though limited in development. Perhaps more masculine, suited for cold weather, and it suffers from a lack of versatility. It performs well; the projection shines at the start and is noticeable in the air. A good proposition that makes me want to try more from the house.

It’s not very challenging, but intended for restricted use. The fresh coffee dies quickly to give way to damp woods, a burnt/incense nuance, and an acceptable animalic base. I thought it would be more challenging, but it isn’t. I really like it. It’s a dark, nocturnal scent for personal enjoyment. Very well-constructed, with limited but brilliant development. Perhaps a bit more masculine, for cold seasons, and it suffers from a lack of versatility. It performs well; the projection shines at the start and is noticeable in the air. A good proposition that makes me want to try more from the house.
