Descripción
Chado-Raku by Pastor Privé Parfums is a woody-spicy olfactive family creation for men, presented as a new fragrance launched in 2024. The nose behind this composition is Edgar Pastor. The olfactive pyramid unfolds with top notes of yuzu, cumin, cardamom, and black pepper; a heart formed by incense, black tea, cinnamon leaf, and iris root; and a base evoking birch, leather, patchouli, and musk.

The concept of Chado-Raku revolves around enjoying tea, the roughness of Sengoku battles and introspection prior to conflict. What does it smell like? A potent, bitter opening of yuzu, cumin, cardamom and black pepper, a sensory slap and the most challenging part of the aroma. Minutes later, black tea and tolu balsam take over, creating a warmth reminiscent of a dense, vaporous infusion full of spices. Woods, leather and musk close the deal, softening a superb and complex character that captures and embraces in a moment of personal enjoyment. I’ve called it elegant and others, sexy; it’s subjective. It’s a dark, potent and complex fragrance, recommended only for those who have already walked a significant distance in the world of niche.
In simple terms: its extract version is ‘an olfactory experience’. I don’t have the new EDP yet, but speaking of the first, it’s a high-quality fragrance where the notes are distinct in every burst. As always, the quality of Edgar Pastor’s work and his team is evident in all his creations. Hoping to smell the EDP version soon to update the review.
Enjoying the path of tea is the soul of Chado-Raku, a perfume that blends Japanese ceremony with the harshness of Sengoku battles and that silence before war. It smells like a spicy, bitter explosion of yuzu, cumin, cardamom and black pepper, a direct slap to the senses. Then, black tea and tolu balsam create a warm, dense atmosphere, as if you were smelling a spice-laden infusion straight from the cup. Finally, woods, leather and musk soften it, turning it into something superb and complex that invites personal meditation. Some see it as elegant, others as sexy; it depends on you. It’s dark, potent and different, ideal only for those with experience in niche perfumery.
Eau de Parfum version. Cumin is a potent ingredient, capable of neutralising and overpowering the other notes. Here, it seems they aimed to evoke the sweat of a Japanese warrior. Then comes the leather and unsweetened black tea, alongside incense and a touch of patchouli. The result is a unique scent, not for mass appeal, but highly valuable for those keen on defining their style (especially those who love personality-driven, masculine aromas). Good quality and composition. This isn’t unisex or an office perfume; it’s for enjoying perfumery with a distinct idea, not to be a best-seller; it’s a private, exclusive line. Good performance and price. Worth getting to know and appreciating Chilean perfumery, which is in great shape and keeps improving.
In this Eau de Parfum version, cumin is the star, potent and capable of imposing itself, evoking the sweat of a Japanese warrior. It blends with leather and unsweetened black tea, alongside incense and a touch of patchouli. The result is a singular scent, far from mass tastes, but highly valuable for those defining their own preferences, especially if they seek something masculine and with personality. Quality and composition are good. It’s not unisex or for the office; it’s for enjoying perfumery with its own ideas, not to be a best-seller. It has good performance and price. Worth getting to know and appreciating Chilean perfumery, which is in great form and keeps improving.
