Overall, Jacques Zolty fragrances seem well-made, pleasant and worth buying if they’re under €100. Based on the background and notes, I was expecting great things. But this Cubata has turned out indigestible for me. The blend of tobacco, rum, spices and honey gives off a scent that feels old and musty, but in a bad way: it smells like a failed perfume and gives me a headache. Don’t confuse tobacco with sweetness found in scents like Herod or Tobacco Vanille, because this Cubata has nothing to do with them. As for Naxos, it’s lightyears away. It’s like inhaling cheap blond tobacco and rum, honey and spices from an old wooden bowl. To my dismay, the longevity and projection are very noticeable. Au revoir!
Cubata, it absolutely blew me away! It smells like real Cuba: upon application, you taste rich rum followed by pure tobacco split in half, exquisite and sweet with honey. Over time, birch and spices emerge. It lasts eight hours, projects well, is subtle, and I’ve received many compliments. I bought it blind and was pleasantly surprised; I see it for winter, elegant dates, or semi-formal occasions (the tobacco gives it a rugged edge). Do not confuse it with Naxos or Red Tobacco. If I had to compare, it bears a faint resemblance to D&G The One EDP, but this one outshines it a thousand times over: much better, longer-lasting, and made for a mature man. Would I recommend it? Yes, try it first if you can, but if you enjoy these scents, dive in without hesitation.
