A pleasant scent, not intrusive, where the citrus and florals are clearly noticeable. Among the listed notes are spices, tangerine, sandalwood and frankincense, though I do not really detect the latter. On my skin, it has a soft projection and a slightly short longevity; I am testing a sample and, to be honest, I do not know its vintage. I like the perfume; it is not powerful but the combination of ingredients is good, perhaps it would improve if applied more generously… I believe it is difficult to find, so if you happen to find a sample, I recommend it: it is certainly attractive and aromatically good. It would be interesting to try the early versions; with more sillage, it would become an almost certain purchase.

A pleasant and non-intrusive aroma, with well-defined citrus and floral notes. I detect spices, tangerine and sandalwood, although the frankincense goes unnoticed. On my skin, it is soft and the longevity is somewhat short, as I am testing a sample and do not know its vintage. I like it because, although it is not powerful, the blend of ingredients is well-judged; perhaps if applied more generously it would improve. I think it is hard to find, so if you come across a sample, I recommend trying it: it is attractive and aromatically good. It would be an almost certain purchase if it had more sillage.

  • J. Casanova is a very interesting herbal aromatic, with a subtle aquatic and fresh touch that adds soapy notes and a very soft wood. Its performance is discreet, yet this does not detract from its distinctly Italian elegance and cleanliness. As described, it seems like a perfume far ahead of its time (perhaps an aquatic-note fragrance from 1981?). The creator was an Arab, Sheikh Mahmood Saeed, who intended to incorporate influences from his culture; hence, frankincense is listed among the notes. However, as Jerry Drake kindly told me (who passed me the sample), the frankincense is not present here. Nor does it have the projection discussed elsewhere. One might hypothesise to resolve all these inconsistencies: perhaps J. Casanova was reformulated, meaning there are two versions—the spiced Arab one and the more modern Italian aromatic one, which I believe is the version I have. In any case, I find it a highly appreciable fragrance.
