Very much in the style of Raghba and 24 Gold, but with a more pronounced oud and less cloying. I perceive a lot of oud from the start, giving a slightly dirty touch to the vanilla and amber, which take centre stage over time as the oud recedes. I see basil and incense listed, but I don’t smell herbs or anything burnt, smoke, or church. It is fairly linear: opening with more oud and a creamy finish with vanilla and amber. It doesn’t reach being tiring. Enormous performance, no complaints. Good projection and excessive longevity. For cool climates and I see it as unisex due to the oud-vanilla/amber contrast. I’ve liked it quite a lot. It doesn’t stand out in originality, but I like the smell. It doesn’t smell too synthetic, and I appreciate that the oud reduces the excess sweetness of the vanilla-amber combo. Its great performance and accessible price give it points in its favour.
The notes I sensed most were the oud and the amber: a woody/bitter result with a sweet base. The bitterness comes from the oud and the sweetness almost entirely from the amber, perhaps with a touch of vanilla. Based on the fact that Black Afgano came out in 2009 and Kalemat Black in 2012, I say KB is another illegitimate child of BA. Both are bitter wood due to the oud; the difference is that BA has a greenish sensation and a marijuana note, whereas KB substitutes the greenish aspect with almost imperceptible vanilla and the marijuana with amber of equal intensity; it could be a flanker. For cool or fresh climates and a 100% formal look, it has little versatility. It lasted almost 12 hours with a half-sample (½ ml), a low quantity, so I deduce it is potent. Using 2 or 3 drops directly from the bottle, the trail is heavy all day. They say the first impression counts; as I met Black Afgano first, I lean towards it, although KB has its own merits. Much better price: 100ml for around $100 or 250ml for less than $200, compared to BA at 30ml for over $130. In terms of budget, KB wins, but in scent, I stick with BA.
I don’t like it; it’s not my type, just like 24 Gold. It feels muuuy heavy. It has a lot of power and that mix of dirty wood, vanillin, and amber… Ugh, so much fatigue hehe.
It reminds me very much of Nautilus Black Marlin. Sweet avoindilled, heavy at first, but over time you notice that base of oud and some incense that balance it out. It is persistent, sweet, with good trail and standout longevity. You have to give it time to start liking it. I’ll try it in autumn and winter; I can’t imagine wearing it in summer or spring heat. Scent 7/10, Trail 7/10, Longevity 5/10, Projection 6/10.
It is sweet, pleasant, with good longevity and trail, but it has the worst atomiser, practically spitting the essence.
It’s sweet, smells lovely and lasts a long time with a great trail, but the atomiser is a disaster, practically spitting out the perfume.
At first, it’s quite heavy, so I recommend being very scrupulous with the drops; two is perfect for me. I don’t distinguish many notes, just that the dense sweetness fades away, and after about three hours, it leaves a soft, ambered, and avoindilled scent that lasts over ten hours. Very pleasant for a female audience and ideal for cold weather. As I already own Resala, Arabian Knight, and Rosewood, I confirm that its atomiser was created to apply a very small amount (fortunately), unlike the other three which are more generous.
What a beast! Kalemat Black is majestic, the wizard of words. It smells incredible if you’re not one of those who only tolerate the scent of Nutella. It’s a powerhouse: anyone complaining about the atomiser doesn’t understand it’s designed to dispense the exact dose of this madness. Beware of light-coloured clothes, it stains, and if you’re a fan of Sauvage or trendy perfumes, stay away; this is for the brave with strong character. Six sprays and you’re ready to conquer the world.
Magnificent! Kalemat Black is the wizard of words, incredibly pleasant if you aren’t one of those who merely tolerate sweet perfumes like Nutella. This is Beast Mode: to anyone complaining about the atomiser, I say it was designed to dispense the exact dose of this bomb. Avoid it on light-coloured clothing as it stains. If you’re a fan of Sauvage or Bleu, don’t stick your nose in here; this is for the brave, people with strong character and determination. With six sprays, I’m ready to conquer the world.
