Kalemat, which in Arabic means wonder, is the jewel of oriental perfumery. It is authentic exclusive Arab perfumery; from the first spray, one notes quality in the ingredients, a beautiful presentation, and a monstrous performance that lasts a very long time. I am not very technical in reviews, but saying it is elegant and serious is an understatement. I also own Kalemat Black, Assel Special Edition, Amiri, Resala, Desert Falcon Luxe Edition, and Majestic Wood Intense, and each is a work of art, although Arabian Oud is on another level.
Kalemat smells very much like RWI, especially that licorice note that leaves it intoxicated, combined with the anise that makes it bright. I also detect those incense hints from RWI, but here it is cinnamon and amber that reign. In RWI, incense and amber dominate; it is heavier, darker, and more linear. In Kalemat, the opening is bright and softened, feeling very light with a sweetness that evolves better. It is very pleasant, but I already have something similar. If I didn’t have RWI, I would buy it without hesitation, but this option is kinder to the wallet. When I finish my RWI, I will surely buy Kalemat for that more interesting and bright evolution.
