Diptyque began in Paris in 1961, when three artists opened a shop at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain. The space brought together objects, textiles and pieces found on their travels. The first scented candles arrived in 1963, followed by the first eau de toilette in 1968. The house therefore moved from decoration into fragrance while keeping its connection with home, art and nature.
L’Eau was that first step and drew on an old recipe. Today the fragrance collection sits alongside candles, body care and home objects. Philosykos takes the fig tree as its subject and is linked to an inspiration from Greece. Diptyque continues to treat fragrance and interiors as parts of the same house.
