Descripción

Volutes Eau de Toilette by Diptyque is an aromatic fragrance from the aromatic family, created for men and women. Launched in 2012, this olfactive composition was designed by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. Upon release, the scent unfolds with tobacco, honey, iris flower, and dried fruits; the heart reveals hay, statice, saffron, pink pepper, and black pepper; while the base settles on benzoin, opoponax, myrrh, and styrax.

  • It’s a good perfume, with a honey and tobacco base. Then you notice some iris and nuts. I’m not sure if I tried the EDT or the EDP, but I really found it lacking. At first, I could detect it easily, but after an hour or two, it was almost gone. It smells good, but I don’t see it as anything special; there are better tobacco perfumes. Although it wasn’t noticeable much on the skin, the next day my clothes still smelled of it; it’s curious.

  • In the world of niche perfumery, there are masterpieces and others that simply don’t work for you. No one disputes the quality of the ingredients, but that doesn’t guarantee they will suit you. If we’re talking about tobacco, Tomo de Annayake (though not niche) gives this Diptyque Volutes a small lesson for a slightly lower price. It also disappointed me, luckily it was just a sample.

  • I have a strange relationship with this Diptyque; I’ve given it several chances. It opens fresh with iris and dries down to a very accomplished tobacco that sweetens with honey and nuts, finishing dry with resinous nuances like myrrh. The scent is almost sublime and fits me perfectly. I see it as unisex, not particularly serious like other tobacco scents. The problem is very marked: the performance. It is too light and frustrating; sometimes it’s hard to smell. When I do smell it, it’s sublime. Longevity has bursts past 8-9 hours but lacks density. I have both the EDT and the EDP; the former carries more iris and is fresher, the latter spicier and more ‘tobaccy’, but the differences are minimal in scent and performance. It’s a good option for the office or discreet use if you like this style, very easy to wear for everyone. If you’re looking to make an impression or have a strong presence, this isn’t for you.

  • I like it. The opening is dominated by iris and dried fruits. The fragrance gradually sweetens with honey, and both the tobacco and hay give it a dry touch so it doesn’t become too sweet. I barely notice the peppers, but I do sense the resinous-sweet touch from so much resin in the base. I tried the EDP. I liked it quite a bit, but it’s true that, as Drake says, there are moments when it lacks body. I’ve used it several times and loved it some days, while other days I could hardly smell it. It feels like something is missing. Those who like the tobacco-honey combo will enjoy it. Perfect for autumn and winter, day and more so for night. Longevity is decent but the trail is soft.

  • I love everything Diptyque I’ve tried, and this Volutes was no exception. The opening is dry, presumably due to the nuts and hay. As soon as I apply it, it reminds me of ink on paper; I don’t know why. Gradually it sweetens with the honey, which appears quickly. The supposed pepper is not noticeable. It finishes with a slight, very subtle sweetness, lasting a maximum of 4 or 5 hours. A lovely fragrance, where its longevity and poor projection are its weak points. The quality of the ingredients is undeniable. Recommended for those who like honey (in a pleasant and subtle way) as a main note.

  • I love the Diptyques I’ve tried, and Volutes does not disappoint. The opening is dry due to the nuts and hay, reminding me of ink on paper the moment I apply it. It then sweetens with the honey, although I don’t detect the pepper. It finishes with a very subtle sweetness that lasts around 4 or 5 hours. It’s lovely, but its longevity and projection are its weak points. The quality of the ingredients is undeniable. Recommended for those who enjoy honey in a pleasant and subtle way.

  • A colleague lent it to me and I was absolutely blown away; what a beauty. Longevity isn’t its strong suit; on my skin, it usually lasts less than average, but perhaps that’s its charm: if it were more potent, it would lose that fresh, light cologne vibe. It doesn’t disappear entirely, but it’s hard to catch it later on. The blend of tobacco with sweet notes (honey and iris) and nuts is simply wonderful; it smells like magical licorice. Everything smells natural and very balanced, with no single note overpowering the others. It transports me back to a bygone era that no longer exists, and that is what truly matters in a perfume.
