It’s my favourite. Opens with honeyed tobacco, spiced with cinnamon and a ginger that adds freshness. Then the honey and ginger recede, leaving a vanilla tobacco note with benzoin and tea nuances. It’s a spiced oriental with a gourmand touch, very balanced, in the vein of Pure Havane or London but better. More masculine and suited for cold weather. Brutal performance and longevity, with a heavy trail. Ideal for autumn, winter, and night.
Clearly it draws from Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford, but I’m sticking with Phaedon in its current versions. The differences are subtle; they’re hardly noticeable at first but become apparent over time. Here the vanilla is swapped for honey and the tobacco is less dry. It feels spicier thanks to the cinnamon and ginger, with a syrupy, balsamic character from the benzoin. Performance is good, even better than the current TV, with solid longevity and projection. It’s linear, though the last hours feel creamier. Unisex and better in the cold. At first it didn’t quite work for me, but over time it has won me over. Among all current clones, this is the one I’m keeping. A good option for winter.
Wow, a discovery. An initial spicy, fresh ginger blast that mutates into warm cinnamon covered in honey, resulting in a slightly liquorice and amber vanilla. It’s the fragrance for being wrapped up by the fireplace while it rains outside. Moderate trail and equal longevity. Very potent for the first two hours, then stays consistent for another two or three. I’ll write a more detailed review on my blog.
