  1. SirCharlie

Bapteme Ambre has two distinct sides: an almost mentholated freshness that clashes with an amber and resinous base, with just the right amount of sweetness. The result is rich; the rose is spicier and darker, while the cinnamon adds creaminess. The resins (benzoin, opoponax) are noticeable, yet always blended with that initial spicy touch. Although original, it smells very much like Amouage’s Enclave (which came out a year earlier). Pierre Guillaume, who created it, already has similar accords in his brand. Compared, Enclave is more complex and of better quality, but Bapteme Ambre is a great perfume and much cheaper. I like it; I see it for cold weather, semi-formal or formal events, unisex, and with good performance. A distinct and worthy exponent in amber perfumes. Rating: 7.5
