I’m not sure whether to call this Vanilla Oud, as it’s a bit of a mess to my nose. It smells of very realistic yellow fruit and resins that initially just add depth. Perhaps the vanilla contributes a touch of sweetness, but underneath I sense a fruity-woody scent with a medicinal edge. Maybe I was expecting something else, as I adore L’Oudo, which with its vanilla and white chocolate pushes that sweet, vanilla-forward oud profile much further. After a while, it settles into a matte yellow texture, less pungent than at first, but it still doesn’t convince me.
