  At first, it repelled me, but I can’t fathom what happened because giving it another chance years later has been an incredible find. It opens with a strong resinous note of frankincense and labdanum, dark and potent woods. Then it evolves into hay and wet, green ferns. In the dry-down it remains resinous and woody but softer, with shy notes of violet and geranium. It finishes with a slightly ozonic touch. It reminds me of a cobblestone city like Siena, on a cloudy winter dusk. The water-laden clouds darken the twilight as the mist rises, the church bells ringing through empty streets, the scent of incense from the mass filtering into the side streets and mixing with that post-rain ozone. The geraniums and ferns in the courtyard pots… It’s a very complex scent that evokes sensations and transports me to another place. Cold like Siena in winter, yet warm and cosy like the incense and dark woods.
