Versilia Aurum by Profumi del Forte is an oriental floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2011, the nose behind this composition is Arturetto Landi. The top notes are strawberry, plum and orange; the heart notes include heliotrope, ylang-ylang, neroli, orchid, iris, rose, jasmine and sweet pea; and the base notes consist of vanilla, tonka bean, balsam of Peru, balsam of Tolu, sandalwood, musk and ambergris.

I bought a decant hoping for a good strawberry note, but spoiler alert, I didn’t find it. The opening is very fruity, with a synthetic strawberry that doesn’t appeal to me. As it dries down, it improves; the artificiality calms and a sweet, almost caramelised vanilla emerges, but it still isn’t what I expected from a niche fragrance. Despite the notes, I don’t see any complexity. I’ll wear it informally or mixed, but it’s nothing special. Moderate sillage and lasts 6 hours. Scent 6.5/10, longevity 6/10, sillage 6/10, value for money 4/10, versatility 7/10, packaging 7/10. Would I buy again? No.

Super cool scent for vanilla lovers; here the fruity note comes from the plum (strawberry isn’t for me), with a dense balsamic base of ambergris, creamy florals and woods. It lasts all day, with a wide trail at first that then settles. Be warned, it’s very sweet, almost cloying. Not for everyone, better to try before buying. For me it’s been a top experience and I’d repeat it. Ideal for spring and the colder months. Totally recommended if you like sweet/fruity/vanilla scents. Smells like nothing else.
