Orange Wood isn’t just the scent of the fruit, but also the stem, leaves and flowers (ylang-ylang, even though it’s not listed).

  • I have just acquired this perfume, which I find ideal for this summer and heat that we have in southern Spain. It gives a Mediterranean citrus and fresh sensation with woody and patchouli nuances. Easy to wear during the day. Moderate trail and longevity. Suitable for frequent use.

Orange Wood is the male counterpart to Angel Schlesser’s Flor de Naranja, and I dare say both are unisex; a man or a woman can wear them without any issue. In both, a citrus world persists as the Leit-Motiv, and it is notable that both are fresh and ideal for summer (though they remain good in other seasons). I would venture to say their world is during the day (both mornings and afternoons) and they fade in the evening in favour of other fragrances with more body. I would also highlight that Flor de Naranja has greater presence and longevity than this Orange Wood, something noticeable from the opening notes of both. The pleasant and fresh sensation is fully achieved in both, perhaps not designed to seduce but to please.

A good perfume, a blend of soft citrus notes that give way to woody and mossy tones as it develops. It bears a great resemblance to the 2009 version of Hermes’ Eau d’Orange Verte; between the two, I choose this one for the price and the scent. It smells very well, with a trail and moderate longevity, but if you apply more, the performance improves significantly. Ideal for spring and summer, and for daytime wear. A great discovery. My rating: 8.5.

  • A good perfume, a blend of soft citrus notes; as the fragrance evolves, woody and mossy tones appear. It has a great resemblance to the 2009 version of Hermès Eau d’Orange Verte; between the two, I choose this one for the price and the scent. It smells very well. The trail and longevity are moderate to low, but applying more significantly increases them. A fragrance for spring and summer, and for daytime. A great discovery. My rating is 8.5.

  • I was given samples and use them in the evening after a shower… what a delight! It smells of cleanliness taken to the extreme, like just having had a shower. Very zen, it conveys serenity. Minimalist, modern and sophisticated in its simplicity. It reminds me of white linen clothes, a spotless Lebanese bed with a curtain blowing in the breeze in a chill-out zone, or the pool at a spa with dim lighting. The perfect cologne for day and summer, to smell good without pretension. Of all I’ve tried, it’s the best for sleeping like a baby. Highly recommended. 8/10.

  • I was given several samples a few days ago and have been wearing them at night after a shower… and it is very pleasant. It is the scent of cleanliness taken to the extreme, a shower scent. Very zen, it conveys serenity. Minimalist, very modern and sophisticated in its simplicity. It makes me think of white linen clothes, a pristine white Lebanese bed with sheer curtains blowing in the wind in a chill-out zone, or a spa pool with dim light. A perfect cologne for the day and summer, for smelling good without pretension. Of all I have smelled, it seems to me the most perfect for sleeping like a baby. Highly recommended! 8/10.

In my opinion, the Flor de Naranja option is better, as although it is categorised for women, it is unisex. Its performance is good, and it is very refreshing for summer. As noted elsewhere, the woody version is not very long-lasting.

I share the opinion of the colleague who compares it to the 2009 version of Hermès Eau d’Orange Verte, but I clarify that this is only regarding the concept and how naturally the scent assimilates. By the way, I have a 50ml bottle, and every time I use it, I literally tear up thinking about when it will run out. Fragrances like this should come in generous presentations (250ml or more).

  • This fragrance presents bipolar sensations. The opening is horrible, super artificial, and offers absolutely nothing that a cheap car air freshener with lemon scent couldn’t provide. It’s a generic, strong, and tacky smell that, surprisingly, lasts for several hours. As it dries down, it becomes much more pleasant, making it incomprehensible how it can open so aggressively before transforming into something very wearable and cosy. After the initial repulsion, it surprisingly becomes something that deeply attracts me, leading me to purchase it. I see it as unisex, suitable for both spring and autumn.

Orange Wood aims to capture the scent of an orange on a sunny spring day, and it certainly succeeds. It smells very good; although citrusy, with a juicy, bright yellow lemon note, it has body, settling into a base of young, woody bergamot that is elegant and very modern. I agree with the comparison to Hermès Eau d’Orange Verte by Ellena, but in Orange Wood the citrus notes are juicy and woody, whereas in Hermès they are mentholated, aromatic, and mossy, making the latter a more mature fragrance. It has a wonderful price for its quality, allowing you to apply it liberally without a guilty conscience, as it is moderate, honest, and economical. In short, I love this fragrance and it has that Mediterranean touch of blue sky, intoxicating vegetation, and a stimulating effect. Perfect for daytime and personal enjoyment. A great fragrance to lift the mood!!! By the way, the shower gel for this perfume is glorious.

Orange Wood captures the smell of an orange on a sunny spring day and does it brilliantly. It smells fantastic: citrusy, with juicy, bright lemon, yet substantial, leaving a base of woody bergamot that’s youthful and elegant. It’s reminiscent of Hermes’ Eau D’Orange Verte (Ellena version), but here the citrus notes are juicy and woody, whereas in Hermes they’re mentholated and mossy, more mature. Excellent price; you can splash on without guilt because it’s honest and affordable. I love it; it has that Mediterranean touch of blue sky and greenery that awakens you. Perfect for daytime and for lifting your spirits. By the way, the shower gel is glorious.

When I was a boy, in the family garden, we’d break orange branches while playing football with my brother, and that distinctive scent brings back memories every time I wear it. It’s citrusy and fresh, yet substantial and present. I took it to Cancun and it was a hit: it lasts and projects more than you’d expect. After a shower and before breakfast, it’s a burst of energy for hot days. Price and quality are impeccable. Breaking branches, Ángel Schlesser scored a goal with this scent. What a pity we don’t know who the nose behind this gem was.

When I was young, there was an orange tree in the garden at my parents’ house. While playing football with my brother, we often broke some of its thin branches, releasing a very characteristic aroma. I return to those memories every time I spritz this beautiful Orange Wood on myself. It is citrusy and fresh, yet also green, with enough body and presence to make an impression. It was the fragrance I chose for my daily wear during my last trip to Cancún, and I am truly glad I did. It lasts and projects more than one might expect at first glance. After a morning shower and before a delicious breakfast, the scent of Orange Wood is an extra injection of energy and vitality for hot, sunny days. It offers excellent value for money, making it even more appealing. I used to break the orange tree branches while kicking the ball; Ángel Schlesser scored a goal with this fragrance at the right angle. It’s a pity we don’t know who the nose behind this beautiful creation was.

  • Angel Schlesser’s Angelica Wood is positive and energising at first (about half an hour) and bears a strong resemblance to Hermes’ Eau d’Orange Verte, but it wins on longevity. Then, for another half an hour, it offers a very pleasant citrus and herbal blend. After that, until around six hours, it smells of wet river stones, reminiscent of Rochas Eau de Toilette for women, but more citrusy. The first two hours project well at arm’s length; afterwards, only the wearer and those very close can detect it. Top quality and better value than Hermes. P.S.: After wearing it several times, I always look forward to the day I use Angelica Wood. That clean citrus opening and that freshness have won me over. It has become my second favourite. Give it a try.

  • Angel Schlesser’s Orange Wood is a highly positive and energising fragrance in its opening phase, lasting about half an hour, and bears a striking resemblance to Hermès Eau d’Orange Verte; however, this one is superior due to its better longevity. Following this comes another half-hour where the scent plays between citrus and herbal notes, which is extremely pleasant. The longest phase lasts around five hours, featuring a scent of wet river stones that reminds me greatly of Rochas Eau de Toilette for women, only with a more citrusy character. In total, it lasts about six hours. For the first two hours, the projection is noticeable to people within a metre, before settling into a scent detectable only by the wearer and those very close by. I love it for its high quality and would recommend buying this over the Hermès version as it is more affordable. Postscript: After wearing Orange Wood several times, I’ve found myself alternating between my fragrances, only to realise I always look forward to the day I can wear Angel Schlesser’s Orange Wood. I absolutely adore this scent; it has become my second favourite. That clean citrus opening and the freshness it leaves throughout its duration have simply won me over. I’d advise you to try it.

  • A good alternative to Hermès Concentré d’Orange Verte, which I also own; in this one, the cedar is more pronounced and it feels slightly fresher. It could last longer, but it is not bad.

  • A staple in my collection. When I first started on Fragrantica, my early reviews focused on products that failed to meet my expectations. This time, however, I have changed my tune to praise this fragrance, which I absolutely love. I discovered it years ago at an outlet fair in my city and have been using a bottle every spring, summer, and early autumn, as I prefer other scents in winter. In my opinion, it develops beautifully from the opening through to the dry-down, with the citrus note remaining dominant and true to its name, particularly noticeable in the initial blast and perfect for starting the day with renewed energy. It is an essential in my wardrobe, just like other Angel Schlesser fragrances, which I believe offer an interesting quality-to-price ratio. Highly recommended, currently very affordable and easy to please the majority.

Extremely fresh, very pleasant, very clean. I fell in love with it from the very first moment. It smells of spring, of a cool summer morning. A lovely summer scent, not that unbearable kind we all wish would end. It also brings back faint memories of my childhood, and that alone has won me over. You can wear it all year round.

  • PacoNaranjo

I am no expert reviewer; I have read many insightful and knowledgeable comments on this site. I registered specifically to express my dismay that this fragrance has been discontinued and replaced, altered, or updated with something that, frankly, bears no resemblance to it; it is simply a different scent altogether. Orange Wood is my signature fragrance, one I continue to seek out because I adore it so much. I would love for houses to keep fragrances alive, even if only on demand. Best wishes.

  • Amarilisbelladona

A delightful fragrance with personality; in my view, it’s unisex, though I prefer it on a man. It smells like a clean, healthy person. Ideal for spring on fresh hours and a relief on heavy summer afternoons. It has everything to be a great fragrance for transitional weather and heat: it’s super refreshing and lasts hours despite being an eau de toilette. It opens very citrusy, with citrus flowers, mint, and a soft anise, very green. However, I enjoy it more on rainy September days: those sudden, stifling rains that soak you. That rain that refreshes and cleanses the air; in those moments, it truly shines, intensifying and leaving a trail, fitting perfectly with the day. When you dry off, melted across the skin and carried by the rain through the pores, that warm patchouli base, woods, and moss emerges, as if to comfort you and signal that summer is ending. It’s a classy fragrance, elegant yet unpretentious, the cologne of a gentleman for his lady to wear and stroll down the street arm-in-arm; it reminds me of that bolero ‘Amarraos’… ‘I know your eyes are stylish and my pride when you walk by my side in the sun, without haste…’. I declare myself a fan of Ángel Schlesser fragrances; they have a wide range of very varied fresh waters, of extremely high quality at a good price, always with a very Spanish air that reminds us of our childhood scents: simple yet complex, cheerful, pure, white, clean, blue, yellow, green, and above all very stylish. Very good longevity and trail, especially considering it is an eau de toilette. I believe it has recently been discontinued or there is a stock shortage; it’s hard to find, but if you come across it, don’t let it slip away; it’s well worth it.

  • nneestorr

A wonderfully rich scent of orange stems and leaves. It’s the third fragrance from this brand I’ve tried, and I can already guarantee it won’t be the last.

  • Very fresh, citrusy, with a touch of wood that prevents it from feeling mature. It’s incredibly versatile and ageless. To be honest, it’s not particularly special; if you have a CK One, it serves the same purpose, just like Citrus Cedro or the Goose’s After Game.

  • incognito

Totally agree with PacoNaranjo! I never understood why they discontinued such a successful fragrance. It was the budget alternative to Hermès’ Eau d’Orange Verte. I had a 100ml bottle, and when I wanted to buy another, they no longer carried it; now they only sell ‘Orange Flower’.

  • Rich and citrusy, with an orange note that doesn’t overshadow the other scents in the genre. It doesn’t stand out for its smell or longevity compared to CK One or Citrus Cedrat, but if you’re looking for citrus and want it cheap, it’s a valid option.
