The opening caught me by surprise, like a sweet, aged dry liqueur in cedar… then it reminded me of that Venezuelan Ponsiguet we drank at Christmas when it was a bit old (it brought back lovely, warm memories of my family, especially our women). Then came a phase I didn’t like so much: the musk appeared, smelling a bit of sweaty skin or… fortunately, it wasn’t unpleasant (I said sweaty, not foul-smelling, hehe). After that stage, the soft, pleasant amber took control and wrapped the whole thing up. I found it interesting and unusual. I’ve decided to give it a proper try soon.
I bought this blind and I’m absolutely blown away. I’d never tried a perfume where iris was the star and wondered if it would be as cold and dry as people say. The truth is, yes: nothing sweet, just earthy and damp. At first, it smells of iris and cedar, warm and dry, super relaxing, with a hint of violet. I don’t detect the lotus, but since I don’t really know it on its own, that’s normal. I’m not sure if I can separate the musk from the amber and ambrette, which give it warmth and softness. Before ordering, I did some research and saw that carrot seeds with iris create something similar to orris. I think this is going to become one of my favourites.
Bought blind and I loved it. I wasn’t used to perfumes with iris as the protagonist and wanted to see if I’d like it, if it was as cold and unsweet as they say. The truth is, yes, nothing sweet, earthy and damp. The opening is all iris and cedar, warm, dry, serene and comfortable, with a light touch of violet. I don’t notice the lotus, but since I don’t know it on its own, that’s normal; I also don’t know if I identify the musk or if it blends with the amber and ambrette, which give it warmth and softness. Before ordering, I looked up info and it seems carrot seeds alongside iris create a note similar to orris. I think this will become one of my regulars.
