It’s my grandmother’s perfume, the one who is no longer with us. When I spray it, I feel like she’s back again. 🥹🥰💕
My grandmother’s perfume, who is no longer with us. When I apply the water, it’s her all over again. 🥹🥰💕
Lilacs. Tonnes of lilacs, like opening the drawer of the wardrobe with old floral soaps that perfumed the sheets, do you remember them? It is tender, delicate, innocent, and instantly evokes happiness and childhood. A delight. Ideal for spring, autumn, and daytime wear; too innocent for the night. It lasts about four hours, with little sillage, intimate, for you or whoever comes close to your neck. Floral and exceptional.
Lilacs take the lead. You open the drawer of the dressing table and smell those old flower-shaped soaps that scented the sheets, do you remember them? It’s tender, delicate, innocent, and instantly brings the happiness of childhood. A perfect delight for spring, autumn, or in-between days; ideal for daytime use; too innocent for the evening. Lasts about four hours, without much trail, it’s intimate, for you or for someone who gets very close to your neck. Floral and exceptional.
It doesn’t quite convince me, but I like to have it and use it occasionally. It must be the mimosa, an old scent that brings me joy and evokes cleanliness. You’ll laugh, but I usually spray it where I keep my stockings and underwear, and the wardrobe smells wonderfully well. The next day, I notice a soft, powdery floral scent, and when I get dressed, I apply other perfumes I use (Samsara, L’Instant, Fifth Avenue Style…), and it creates a very successful ‘layering’.
I remember my first encounter in 2000; this week I managed to get a sample of the eau de toilette from the late 90s. It is a fragrance with a very interesting and rather unusual composition. Distinct, different, ”quirky” was the first thing that came to my mind back in the early millennium. It has a central note of mimosa, accompanied by fine touches of violets, lilacs, anise, and bitter almonds. It is excellently articulated, each note is felt without issue. There is also a soft touch of peach, with a hint of spiced vanilla in the base. Champs Elysées is not for everyone, nor is it the typical fruity floral; nowadays it can seem heavy to some noses, but for me it is tranquil, provided its use is not excessive. A rich and Parisian creation by Guerlain.
I bought it in winter, but I love it in spring: a pampered and powdery mimosa, spring lilacs, melon and iris, seasoned with a pinch of noble sweetness vanilla and barely perceptible, they invite you to believe that spring is already here. On my skin, the longevity is moderate and the trail is medium, which doesn’t bother anyone around you but allows you to enjoy it. A charming perfume of very good taste.
I bought it in winter, but I love it more in spring: a pampered and powdered mimosa, spring lilacs, melon, and iris, with a touch of sweet vanilla that is barely perceptible. Good morning, here is my opinion: it is not one of my favourites, there are others I like much more. My mother uses it with nostalgia, as she used it when she was younger, and after many years I bought it for her as a Christmas present (2017). I bought the 50 ml size, it cost me 40€ at the Primor perfumery (the Eau de Toilette). She likes it very much, me… well, not so much. It is a floral perfume, medium-strong, modern-vintage scent… I don’t know, it is very Guerlain, I think everyone who has written reviews here has heard it, so… In my opinion, I would recommend other perfumes I like much more. It smells good, I give it a 7. Longevity on skin: 4-5-6 hours. Longevity on clothes/hair: 6 hours? Trail: medium. Final note for what it offers: 6.5. Note for the name: 10+. Overall perfume note: 7.5.
I thought I’d love it, as I enjoy floral perfumes, but definitely not the case. It smells like plastic or too artificial. I could even compare it to Vanderbilt, another perfume I dislike.
I thought I would love it, as I like floral perfumes, but definitely it hasn’t been the case, it smells like plastic or an overly artificial scent. It could even resemble the Vanderbilt, which is also a perfume I dislike.
I have just discovered this wonder. It wraps me in joy with a delicious aroma that reminds me of Andalusian courtyards full of flowers. Two sprays are enough, as otherwise it can become too strong. It is very long-lasting.
I have just discovered this wonderful fragrance. It envelops me in joy. It has a delicious scent that reminds me of Andalusian courtyards full of flowers. That said, two sprays are enough because otherwise it can become too overwhelming. It is very long-lasting.
Guerlain, Guerlain, you had to be you. I have been using the Initial Samsara for a couple of years, a wonderful sensual perfume… but this is a load of happiness, love, all the good things of life in a bottle… you have to touch it! To use it… I love you.
I have the reformulated version in my possession, it is very sweet but not cloying like many current perfumes. On my skin, the opening is dominated by a very natural almond scent, not like cough syrup, accompanied by melon and just a tiny touch of anise. In the heart notes, the almond remains present for a few minutes in a more intense and sugary way, and the bouquet of flowers gradually opens up, where I feel the rose and mimosa predominate, always slightly sugary. In the base notes, I do not perceive the sandalwood, only light vanilla, not gourmand, and almond. The trail is soft and has good longevity, between 8 and 10 hours. Correct for daytime use and I would not limit it to spring-summer. With heat it is more floral and with a bit of cold it is perceived as sweeter. It seems balanced and refined, but it is not a head-turner; useful for situations where you don’t know what to wear and need to smell good but pass somewhat unnoticed, or in jobs where you are in contact with many people of various professions and styles, as it is not so intrusive, which gives it versatility. Suitable for a wide age range.
A blend of joy and rebellion in a bottle. It is feminine yet turbulent, an effervescent and sweet delight that shouts spring: flowers, woods, and gardens. It is a floral explosion, but not of exotics; rather, of an elegant and luxurious bouquet, like those found in sumptuous gardens of old. That is why the name fits: Champs-Élysées.
It is spectacular, sweet, feminine, and very persistent, like most Guerlain fragrances. I thought it had been discontinued, but it is still alive. It will be my next purchase.
It is spectacular, sweet, and feminine, with excellent longevity, typical of Guerlain. I thought it had been discontinued, but it is still alive. It will be my next purchase.
For Mother’s Day, my mum tried it and it is a true Guerlain exquisite. Soft, neither cloying nor overpowering, ideal for spring and summer as it is not dense. It evokes natural herbs and flowers from the countryside with hints of a summer garden, all within a moderate and exquisite sweetness that denotes good taste without seeking attention. A masterpiece by Guerlain’s noses (father and son). For elegant ladies and young women with a bucolic and romantic soul.
The best fragrance I have had so far to wear during the day. It is perfect: sweet without being cloying, elegant, and everyone asks what I am wearing. It is simply synonymous with good taste… exquisite.
It is the kind of fragrance that gives headaches and overwhelms with flowers until one is satiated. It reminds me of older ladies, heavily made up and wrapped in mink. There is no freshness or softness; it is an explosion that leaves you breathless.
A typical fragrance that gives you a headache and is overwhelming with flowers to the point of satiety. It reminds me of older ladies, heavily made up, wrapped in a mink coat. It’s not fresh or soft at all; it’s an explosion that leaves you breathless.
Extremely sweet, with mimosa and almond standing out. Better suited for spring and summer. I was more attracted to it before, but now it tires me a little. Although I use it, I want to finish the bottle. I think it is more for young girls, though any age can wear it if they enjoy it.
