A meteorological iris water right to the crown. Smells like violet meadows under a summer rain, a storm while walking along the road with petrichor and hot asphalt. Soaked violet talc creating a beautiful grey marengo landscape. Vintage, classic, and absolutely brilliant. Defines Guerlain’s identity, that makeup and violet scent. A rainy day in Paris.
A meteorological iris water from crown to toe. It smells of violet meadows under a summer rainstorm, a thunderstorm while walking down the road with petrichor and hot asphalt. It’s talcum-drenched violet creating a beautiful grey marengo landscape. Vintage, classic, and absolutely brilliant. It defines Guerlain’s identity, that scent of makeup and violets. A rainy day in Paris.
Après l’Ondée is one of my favourite fragrances. It features my preferred notes: lily, violet and heliotrope. At first, there’s an anise tone that lingers throughout the fragrance’s life, before the wonderful combination of violet, lily and heliotrope emerges: soft, powdery, like old cream or face powder. The longevity is impressive, but the sillage is very low; it’s only noticeable if you press close to the skin. It’s a perfume from another time, reminding me of the Art Nouveau era and the women of that period. Highly recommended.

The longevity is impressive, but the sillage is very low; it’s only noticeable if you press close to the skin. It’s a fragrance from another time, reminding me of the Art Nouveau era and the women of that period. Highly recommended.

At first, the iris stands out, followed by a shy carnation, sweet heliotrope, and the most romantic, ethereal violet, completing the composition. It turns Après l’Ondée into one of the most beautiful florals in history: soft and fragile, yet emotionally powerful. Perhaps this impression comes from its fresh opening with iris, violet, and carnation, before a sweet, slightly vanilla base emerges minutes later, interwoven with anise, mimosa, musk, benzoin, and sandalwood. It remains clearly floral, though it flirts with oriental notes. There is undeniably L’Heure Bleue DNA in this 1912 creation, where they added clove, tonka bean, spices, more benzoin, and sandalwood. The longevity is soft, so keep that in mind.

There’s clearly DNA from L’Heure Bleue; the influence on this 1912 creation, where they added clove, tonka bean, spices, more benzoin and sandalwood, is undeniable. The fixation is soft, so keep that in mind.
