Descripción

L'Homme Idéal Eau de Parfum by Guerlain is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2016, this composition was created by Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk. The top notes unfold with almond, spices, lavender, bergamot, rosemary and thyme; the heart reveals cherry, vanilla, incense and Bulgarian rose; while the base notes settle on tonka bean, leather and sandalwood.

A wonderful perfume. What is most felt is the cherry, almond, and leather. Its longevity is medium without exceeding 7-8 hours depending on the weather. Its projection and sillage are strong for the first hour. It’s a sweet touch without being cloying. This aroma is enjoyed greatly. The notes indicate it has rose but it’s very, very slight, almost imperceptible. There is a Guerlain perfume that is very similar to this one but with 3 times superior performance. Where the notes that are most felt are cherry, licorice, leather, and rose. It’s called Black Perfecto. If you like perfumes with the cherry note, these are 2 must-haves. Black Perfecto is catalogued for women but I find it 60% masculine and 40% feminine. Great perfumes. I am a huge fan of the whole line and my top of L’homme ideal always changed month to month. This has never been my favourite but I love it just the same. It’s enjoyed to the full. A 10/10.

  • The best cherry, the scent is very good, not cloying. In Mexico it cost me 800 pesos on offer.

A true beauty, an EDP in every sense of the word. It has a very, very good longevity, over 8 hours on skin, while on clothes it can last days. It’s a Mauri fragrance, would be, but at the same time warm and quite seductive, just like that, the representation of a man made and right. Perfect for the office (with few sprays) and equally perfect for formal events, where you can wear it perfectly with a suit and tie. Although the notes of Guerlain L’homme Ideal share a common denominator in the almond, this one has the stinging presence of cherry, incense, leather, and tonka bean, which give it that undisputed masculinity. Personally, I think someone over 25 can use it, but one must dress quite formally to wear it in all its splendour. This is another of those that should be in the collection of anyone who knows what they want and is looking for it.

  • Guerlain redefines the ideal man. Intense, sophisticated, intoxicating, seductive. Without a doubt the best of the line, light years ahead of the other flankers; being the other great perfumes (especially the Intense), this plays in another league, the cherry gives it a supreme level. If this perfume were a boyfriend, he would be the one all mothers-in-law would want for their daughters. Because yes, because that is the ideal man. • I love it, it’s everything I was looking for. Elegance and sweetness bottled. I love and will always love the cherry in this juice, there’s nothing like it, nothing compares for me. I had a bottle of the old ones and now I have the current one, and it still lasts well. 9.5/10.

Another ruined perfume. I bought it in 2023, bottle with the new image. Upon application, I felt it was very weak, barely two hours and projecting for 30 minutes. I felt it so weak that I wrote to Guerlain in case there was a defective batch. They sent me a new unit with a very nice presentation but the perfume was equally weak. Even the cologne of teenagers lasts longer than this. Don’t throw your money on something like this; the performance is lamentable. Be very careful with YouTuber reviews because they don’t match reality. It’s a perfume that smells good, like cherry coke with vanilla, a touch of sandalwood, but the longevity is shameful and the sillage non-existent. Very bad Guerlain, not like this.

  • Please read to the end 😉 I just applied it generously and it smells sensational: warm, sophisticated, and sexy. You can perceive those great almonds with lavender and bergamot… and then that sweet cherry appears accompanied by Damask rose and a seductive vanilla… and then…? Then everything starts to fade because it barely projects or leaves a trail… and then you have to bring your nose closer and closer to follow the trail of where it went… You detect it at skin level and as soon as you go outside, GAME OVER. Conflicting feelings about how such a precious composition becomes so ephemeral. A bittersweet sensation, and given the cost, even a disappointment. Those who criticise Arabic perfumes because they smell synthetic even though they are cheaper, better presented, and last and project like beasts, I remind you that our Western versions of flankers; Intense, Elixir, Extreme, new Parfum, etc, are a consequence of the situation we ourselves have allowed. So be careful with the permissive message we send to the industry in our purchases. And it’s not worth selling us excuses with IFRA regulations to finance their business greed and allow them to LIQUIDATE, REDUCE, ADULTERATE and CUT THE WINGS of their own perfumes. Thanks for reading, mates 🙂

I think it’s unisex. It has got me compliments and smells good: above all, the cherry stands out and there’s a slight alcoholic note in the base. Its trail and projection are moderate. I don’t recommend it for young people or for blind buying.

  • I bought it a few months ago, June 2024. It’s a February 2024 batch that intrigued me due to its cherry note; I thought it would be super sweet, but I was disappointed as it isn’t that sweet. It’s very sober and elegant, quite reserved in both scent and projection. It smells dry with an almond note and a touch of floral lavender; spices are noticeable but I can’t pinpoint which ones. It gives a vibrant touch to the opening, and after 15-20 minutes it dries down to reveal a fresh cherry, with a floral vanilla contribution and a permanent dark touch from the incense. It closes with the exquisite touch of tonka; the leathers are subtle, nothing marked, but they add something sophisticated and woody thanks to the sandalwood. Longevity on skin is 8 to 10 hours, but projection isn’t strong after the first hour; the sillage shortens considerably and by the second hour it’s skin scent only. On clothes it lasts forever, so I recommend mixing sprays between skin and clothes to improve performance. Personal experience: it wasn’t what I expected, but I liked it quite a bit. Would I buy it again? Until it runs out, depending on how much it gets re-re-reformulated, perhaps not, but if it stays the same, yes. Does it deliver? Yes, and much more. The most repeated comment is “how elegant” rather than “how good you smell”; it’s to my liking and much more masculine than one might think.

  • One of my first loves in the world of fragrances. The opening can seem a bit chaotic or medicinal, but after 10 minutes, that unmistakable note of cherry, almond, and leather with a sweet base really stands out. For those who know how to enjoy and wear it, it’s a spectacle. Quality and composition at niche level. *Note: I am unaware of current formulations; this review is based on one of the early batches with coloured edges.*

  • What a delightful perfume! I barely knew it when I first encountered it and the opening didn’t convince me, but it evolves incredibly over time. Lately, it’s the one I use most; from around 10 minutes in, the cherry and tonka bean become more apparent, making it sweeter and creamier, and by an hour, a super sexy, seductive, and magnetic vanilla emerges. It has incredible longevity, projecting for at least 6 hours and lasting over 12 on my skin. And to top it all off, women love it! It’s a masculine fragrance that is elegant, versatile, sophisticated, sexy, seductive, and sweet, yet not cloying; it’s an addictive combination. It’s ideal for dates, going out, or formal events, but works almost in any occasion. I highly recommend it; try it on skin to feel the full experience; it definitely doesn’t fail.

  • I absolutely love this perfume 😍. It has a beautiful opening reminiscent of cherry gummies, and undoubtedly the cherry accord is the star. Over time, the cherry and almond envelop everything, blending perfectly with rose and vanilla; I think the rose gives it that powdery sensation which, combined with the cherry, adds a very pleasant innocence for cold days and elegant occasions. I don’t perceive the leather too much; it’s more of a background garnish that adds maturity and depth. I see it as unisex, though I doubt young men would enjoy it as it strays from party-focused trends like JPG, Versace Eros, or Invictus; it’s something more unique for a creative person who doesn’t want to smell like everyone else. In the final hours, the cherry fades and leaves a vanilla, almost caramelised scent that I adore. I have a bottle with a black cap (batch 2022) and it projects decently for the first hour, then settles into a personal bubble. It easily lasts 7 hours on skin, and I believe L’Homme Ideal EDP is for special occasions or dates; with that longevity, it’s more than sufficient. Moreover, it’s very accessible in price and Guerlain always delivers excellent quality. For me, it’s a 10/10. That said, it’s not a blind buy, as I don’t think the masses will like it.

  • A true masterpiece! It’s one of the few fragrances where I can distinctly perceive the evolution from top, heart, and base notes; each has its own charm, but the dry-down is absolutely delicious.

  • JohnAcosta25

I’ve been testing this for the office for two weeks and it has surprised me. It lasts well from 8 am until the afternoon, though with a personal, intimate sillage. It has a peculiar, formal scent; it’s heavy but not overpowering, and it doesn’t become cloying as it isn’t overly sweet. My first mistake was applying two sprays to my chest, which was quite overwhelming, so be careful with the amount as it clings heavily to clothing. I faintly detect cherry and the leather note is quite subdued. Ultimately, Guerlain’s almond note stands out and envelops everything. Sometimes it smells like old slate in a classroom with chalk, reminding me of my childhood. It has a distinguished scent and nothing commercial. For autumn, winter, or the office, I see it as a pleasant formal option for any age. I’d give it a 9 out of 10; I’m eager to try another version of the ‘Homme Ideal’ line. I found it on sale for $50, though I’ve seen it retail for triple that in stores. Well done, Guerlain, a house I’m only just discovering. March 2024 batch, crystal clear bottle with a colour resembling blueberry juice. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

  • santoscalero

Fantastic perfume! It’s one of my favourite lines. That almond and cherry-vanilla blend is perfect for these autumnal times. It’s not overly projecting, but it certainly makes an impression. What I love most is the dry-down: I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and I keep thinking, ‘this sounds familiar and I like it.’ Naturally, one of my favourites ends up just like Prada L’Homme Intense. Indeed, they share the same notes. It’s wonderful how two fragrances can take different paths only to arrive at the same destination.

  • Tested on skin and dry after two sprays. I was undecided between this EDP, the Extreme version, and the Hugo Boss Bottle Elixir, so I tried them all together. The opening was disappointing; I expected that juicy cherry but it wasn’t noticeable, almost as if the scent was muted (it was from the first batch with brown edges). After 10 minutes, that cherry starts to emerge, intensifying and smelling incredible, like a cherry wrapped in suede. This is where I enjoy it, although I hoped for something fresher. It reminded me of Dior Homme Intense drying down. I liked it quite a bit, but not quite what I expected. I think I’ll decant the Extreme version instead.

  • iDestruccion

An excellent choice for any occasion, except hot days; it can feel heavy if you sweat much due to its creamy sweetness. On my skin, almond and the creaminess of tonka bean dominate, lasting well thanks to the leather, with a delightful cherry opening that lasts between 30 minutes and an hour. Perfect for going out at night on a date.

  • SugarPlumFairy

So delicious I bought it just for myself. Performance and olfactory quality are niche-level. I love it.

  • Alexrojas2908

Cherry, almond and leather: that’s the summary. It smells lovely, though the cherry feels a bit synthetic, like cough syrup, but that gives it character. It’s neither cheap nor expensive, and it’s perfect for cold days.

  • A very particular and rich aroma. It’s a daring formulation with personality, yet elegant and formal. At the opening, you feel all the spicy notes, and over time, the leather, vanilla, and incense come to the fore. It’s a fragrance for when you’re well-dressed. The cherry note is there, but somewhat synthetic and not very prominent; I think it’s avoiding feeling ‘feminine’ (a pity, as I was just looking for something that smelled more of cherry). The projection and longevity haven’t pleased me entirely, but I think it’s a quality/price fragrance.

  • Marco Reus507

A pleasant, masculine fragrance with quite faint trail and longevity. Recently, I tested this scent at a department store but am confused; the saleswoman told me the concentration was ‘parfum’, not Eau de Parfum. Having said that, the fragrance I tested was very cherry-forward with leather and spices; the cherry note was quite strong. When I bought this, I saw it’s more almond, cherry, vanilla, and yes, leather, but the cherry isn’t as strong as in that other fragrance, so I ask you, fellow fragrance enthusiasts: Is there a parfum version of this Guerlain fragrance with a strong cherry note? If so, please tell me the name because I don’t see another from this brand with that olfactive note. What I have is quite faint and doesn’t last very long, to say the least. I’ll try to macerate it in its box away from light, but I don’t know if it will ever feel like that one. As things stand, it’s a good fragrance and I liked it, but perhaps my disappointment lies in the fact that I was wrong or the saleswoman was, but if one thing I’m sure of, the cherry note is unforgettable, as it was masculine and distinct from all the sweet/leather/vanilla perfumes.

  • Matias T

Very tasty, but the longevity is terrible, and it projects nothing; it stays only on the skin.

  • JonathanJavier

Do not take my opinion on this fragrance seriously, as the more I test it, the more I realise I’m a madman for sweet perfumes, so I’m neither objective nor pretending to be. I’ve seen many people disparage this Guerlain line, claiming the reputable house has lost its quality standards, and I can only wonder if this is the bad one. How must their fragrances from their golden era have been, sir? It is true that this is a more taste-driven fragrance than original or artistic, and to be honest, half the notes in that pyramid seem to be decorative (this could well be my inexperienced nose, though the voting percentages seem to say the same). However, I advance that this perfume is a 10/10 and I love it. It opens with those extremely kind and sweet spices, and immediately the skeleton of the perfume is revealed. It’s not a fragrance with a crazy evolution; those opening spices fade and the vanilla is accentuated, becoming more delicate. As for the controversial cherry, it’s true it’s not the most noble note and may disappoint those looking for a fresh cherry branch; this is more of a maraschino cherry, even a cherry caramel. I think the latter is more accurate because that cherry accord mixed with incense and spices reminds me faintly of a cherry Halls. I believe this composition is why many don’t like it, but I love it. I still can’t tell you if it’s because I’m not a purist of notes or because enough sweetness and vanilla fix everything for me; it’s a charming aroma despite the components not being ultra-premium. Regarding the famous almond, which is the soul of the line, the truth is I don’t feel it as a protagonist; it has a hint and is delicious, but the cherry and vanilla on my skin devour it. If I didn’t know it had almond, I’d confuse it with a vanilla base with a slightly nutty undertone, very subtle. Some even say elegant, and I almost agree; the base is well-placed, and once the cherry stops being so shrill, this EDP passes for a classy fragrance. The leather and incense add the just right touch of masculinity, but this is unisex; a woman wearing it would break hearts. Especially in the dry-down on my skin, it’s net feminine; the cherry and leather hint blend into the tonka bean, which ends up winning the race, well-blended but unlike others, it feels tasteful (there are no shrill coumarins). After 8 hours, that vanilla aftertaste hasn’t faded yet, so longevity is quite good. The trail is moderate, leaning towards light, which I think is a success and adds to the elegant aspect. A fragrance strictly for cold weather and special occasions; it’s pricey, but I would buy it without hesitation.

  • Excellent flanker in the saga. The predominant cherry, along with the almond and touches of incense and rose, make it unique, paying homage to niche perfumes rather than commercial ones. The quality is, as with all Guerlain, excellent. While we can follow the thinking that ‘not every sexy fragrance needs to be explosive with brutal performance’, the truth is it projects nothing and leaves no trail. Almost immediately reduced to a personal scent for several hours; only those who get very close can perceive it, apart from us, of course. It’s delicious, well-constructed, and easy to wear… but the performance is disappointing, unless you’re on the intimate perfumes team.

  • VertigoScents

The fragrance that earned me the most compliments from my collection. An exquisite niche aroma, with a creamy almond, a somewhat synthetic but delicious cherry, and a rose-incense combination that gives it notable depth. A totally elegant fragrance, versatile for autumns and winters, varying between day and night. The projection isn’t great, but the trail is impressive; you can smell it from metres away, announcing your arrival. Longevity is excellent for a fragrance of these characteristics: 8 to 10 hours without issues. Without a doubt, at the designer level, I rate this a firm 9.5/10. A great success in the Guerlain L’Homme line; I would choose it over all the others.

  • I own about 50 perfumes, and this is one of the shortest-lasting on skin. Exactly 45 minutes. I’m not even talking about the non-existent projection. Batch from 2025. It feels like a lie. Literally. Please, do not buy this. A flash of cherry projects more.

  • A strange aroma, and not in an interesting way. The opening smells like a hospital or cough syrup, as others rightly pointed out. Upon drying down, the cherry manages to feel slightly intriguing on my skin, which makes it even more frustrating: from a distance it might seem passable, but as you get closer, the smell only gets worse. It’s not an absolute disaster, but I’m frustrated by the lack of identity. I sniff it compulsively, not out of pleasure, but out of confusion. What is this? What is it trying to be? And most importantly, who would wear this? Sometimes it smells of cherry, then incense, then syrup, hospital, or bathroom air freshener. No single note stands out or defines itself; it’s confusing. A failed and pretentious attempt that would have been at least interesting, or less frustrating, if Guerlain had decided what they wanted it to smell like—either incense or cherry. Which was it? I suppose we’ll be left wondering. Who do I imagine wearing this? I picture a man in his mid-40s, someone with little personality but convinced they are interesting.

  • Guerlain L’Homme Idéal EDP is a refined and seductive take on the classic masculine gourmand. It opens with freshness: bergamot, rosemary, and lavender, giving way to a heart of almond, cherry, vanilla, and incense—sweet and present. The base of leather, tonka, and sandal adds body and warmth, maintaining elegance and structure. It’s not a ‘beast mode’, but it shines with refined, close-up presence. Performance is solid: reliable longevity and a trail that leaves a mark without overwhelming. Ideal for dates or dinners where you want to convey a polished, modern air without veering into youthfulness or excess.

  • It’s a full-bodied, heavy, and dense fragrance… Sweet, warm, and heavily incensed, almost rough. You can detect the cherry and incense over a base of creamy almond. It smells like sweet smoke, cherry-tinted, yet laden with ash… A very particular niche scent, smelling quite unisex. The quality of the notes is excellent, as is the rest of the line. Very good longevity and moderate-to-strong projection, which is ideal because if it were any stronger, it would be one of those that clash… Perfect for autumn, winter, or a crisp spring evening.

  • This perfume is challenging: it challenges sweet ingredients like vanilla, tonka, and cherry to become a masculine scent, a bit of mature adult, but quite masculine and elegant. It balances well giving a serious profile, where cherry is the protagonist alongside a rich incense (I understand that for some it may smell like syrup, I think this happens with extra ingredients in the recreation of cherry), although for me it is a dark profile. I have tried other cherry scents and none are as dark as this one. If you are looking for that, it is a rich scent I recommend smelling first; duration and projection are quite good.

  • In perfumery there are many regrets… with this one I regret not buying the 100 ml. Among my favourites, elegant as few, a different aroma dominated by leather, cherry, almond, and a touch of lavender. Without doubt it’s a delight for cold and fresh climates. It has good body, is dense, with good initial projection and excellent duration of 9 to 12 hours. It will be one of my first options for special occasions.

  • Marco Reus507

After 5 months of maceration, I update the review. It lasts well, projects well, and smells delicious. I agree with another review: it’s a set of feminine smells forced to be masculine. Very intense in cherry and sweet, but with leather present and very creamy. Something rare to find, Guerlain did not disappoint. The almond, vanilla, and other notes round off the aroma, making it better and more aggressive. I confirm my previous review: yes, it is exactly as I remember the tester (I suppose it was well macerated).

  • My official fragrance and first review. It could only come from a great global house; years of dedication and fine ingredients make Guerlain something superlative. If you have the chance, buy it, but not blindly, as it doesn’t promise to please everyone. It earns many compliments from women, though being neutral, it suits a man better. It’s intoxicating without being a beast mode. I see it for temperatures below 15-17 degrees, although I wear it all day; at night it shines more. I’ve been in this world for little while, but it is one of the most unique and charming fragrances.

  • Sergioparfum

Smells fantastic, a blend of cherry with woods, a hint of almond, and a smoky, dusty touch. It’s very different from commercial scents; nothing strange, but certainly very masculine and elegant.

  • Delicious cherry and almond liqueur…slightly smoked with spices. Subtle, sweet and talcum-like, a bright and elegant scent at the start where the cherry leads. Then a sweet vanilla touch enters until it disappears in the last hours. Moderate but pleasant projection, lasts about 7 to 8 hours. For me it’s exquisite, but ideal for special and family occasions. 10/10.

  • I’ve tried it quite a bit, time for the review. For me, it combines two concepts: sweet and deep. It’s complex, the blend is exquisite, and you can’t distinguish much of the individual scents, which makes it special (especially when dried). I don’t appreciate the opening as much; it feels distant from the intention; the almond is super present, but I don’t enjoy the bergamot mix with other components much, and rosemary and thyme together give me a seasoned food sensation. It doesn’t smell bad, that’s my opinion. Lasts 10-15 minutes at first. Then comes the best part: an acidic cherry (not sugary) contrasting with a light but deep vanilla, an almost cosmetic rose, and incense that rounds it off into something mysterious. The heart lasts 4-5 hours perfectly, with 3 hours of projection. The dry down has charm: tonka, light leather (just for depth) and sandalwood. The dry down lasts another 4-5 hours as a skin scent. I agree it has feminine reminiscences, but the incense and leather make it masculine, although don’t expect to smell like a man, it’s a deep scent. Quality and performance: don’t expect miracles, but it lasts long enough and projects well for the first 3 hours. It’s for specific use: dates, night, autumn, winter, or cold springs; in heat, it overwhelms. Price: 4.5/10, Sillage/Projection: 7.5/10, Versatility: 5/10, Scent: 8.5/10. It’s a good designer perfume that touches on niche. Imagine walking into a luxury mansion with leather armchairs, burning incense, a table of cherries and nuts, and an expensive woman sitting there with the best rose and vanilla perfume. It smells unique.

  • itsporongaman

Sweet and addictive. From the batch I have, the longevity is very good. I especially love that it doesn’t smell too masculine.

  • Ricardo-powa

Pfff, I read so much about the famous leather, but you can’t even smell it here. If you’re looking for the L’homme Ideal masculine scent where the leather is noticeable, buy the Intense version 🫰, that one truly smells like a man. This EDP is very unisex and smells girly. Cheers.

  • Cherry, almond and super creamy sweet vanilla, but balanced by a nice touch of incense and subtle leather. An incredible rose makes it round. Usually available at a good price and lasts long; Guerlain’s vanilla is natural and realistic. Note: it’s for 30 years and up, it can seem mature, but otherwise, it’s the ideal man’s perfume.
