Crystallised neroli, sweet, balsamic; it smells like a perfume from the 15th century. The citrus notes stand out in the opening in a masterful and natural way. The tea note and the smoky aspect are exquisite… a deceptive fragrance that seems feminine and linear all the time, but oh surprise, as it dries down, the darker notes appear. Exquisite and pure refinement.

  • Opens with a fragrant and refreshing note of a fine neroli, nothing piercing, linked with tea leaves that add something herbal and green but measured and warm due to the union with the smoky, semi-woody, and damp scent of oakmoss, which blends deliciously with myrrh. Just there, the fragrance turns sweet, slightly balsamic, with a spicy touch and launches into a clean, translucent, and sweet musk, accompanied by vanilla. It’s not a complex or difficult composition, nor just another citrus. It’s a perfectly amalgamated fragrance, where the elegance of simplicity lies, the less is more. Timeless, usable in any climate, as its ensemble gives a sweet but sophisticated, fine, and classy trail that attracts the foreign nose with just four sprays, intensifying slowly. Needless to say, I want it with me always.

  • The neroli here is at its most exquisite. It is a scent that is already very well established in perfumery, with that warm orangey touch of bitter orange that gives it such vibrancy and richness. The fragrance that best captures this note in a realistic way is Neroli by Profumum Roma, respecting the full nature of that citrus and cosy smell, a true home fragrance. But Guerlain, with its Outrenoir, takes a different path: a drier, earthier, more complex and sophisticated neroli. It is neroli dressed in design, with class and sobriety, adding infinite elegance. It reminds me of the lovely Arancia di Sicilia, which, although more familiar, shares something in common, perhaps due to the connection of neroli with other ingredients that create great contrast. As a lover of neroli, this is a 10.

  • Neroli at an exquisite level. It’s a fragrance of something highly crafted in perfumery: the neroli, with that warm orangey touch from the bitter orange that adds zest. The one that portrays that note best is Profumum Roma’s Neroli, respecting the nature of that citrus and welcoming scent, a ‘home’ fragrance. But Guerlain, with Outrenoir, takes a different path. A drier, earthier, more complex and elaborate neroli, sophisticated in sum. It’s the neroli dressed in design, with class and sobriety, adding infinite elegance. It reminds me of the lovely ‘Arancia di Sicilia’; although more familiar, they share something in common due to the contrast with other ingredients. As a neroli lover, this is a 10.

  • A very refined neroli with a ‘dark’ base, that’s how I perceive it. For me, an elegant, deep, aristocratic fragrance. A beautiful way for Guerlain to work with neroli. Unisex, suitable for fresh climates. One of the best nerolis I’ve tried; I have doubts about whether it’s worth the cost.

  • Arrived as a decant gift and straight to the point: Neroli Outrenoir is the best neroli I have ever tried, even though I usually don’t favour that note. Plus, it’s one of the finest tea scents I’ve encountered; it doesn’t envy brands like Floraiku or State of Mind. The opening maintains sweet citrus and white flowers that become dense thanks to the black tea. It evolves with a smoky nuance and a resinous base that makes it unique (myrrh is very prominent). Longevity and projection are impressive for a summer fragrance, though I think it works well in fresh weather too. Many might find it feminine due to the sweet nuances, but I see it as super unisex for casual or semi-formal occasions. Debatable whether the price is fair, but I believe it’s worth it for quality, originality, and performance. Note: 10/10.

  • It arrived as a gift from a decant order and without any fuss, Neroli Outrenoir has become the best neroli fragrance I have ever tried, even though neroli is not a note I particularly enjoy. Furthermore, it would not be unreasonable to say that it is one of the finest tea scents I have ever smelled, as it lacks nothing compared to brands like Floraiku or State of Mind, which have extremely high quality in those ingredients. The opening maintains sweet citrus with white flowers that become heavy and dense from the first few minutes thanks to the black tea. It evolves with a smoky nuance and a resinous base that makes it immensely distinctive and unique (myrrh is very prominent to my nose). Its longevity and projection are impressively good for a fragrance made for summer, but I believe it would also be suitable in fresher weather. Many might find it feminine due to its sweet nuances, but I see it as super unisex for casual or semi-formal occasions. Debatable whether the price is fair, but I certainly believe it is worth it in terms of quality, originality, complexity and performance. Rating: 10/10

I was gifted a decant and I must say, I would use only one word: ELEGANT. It smells citrusy and of neroli, but with a base of tea and smoke that gives it a dark twist. It reminds me of a luxury hotel where everything smells clean, fresh and refined. It felt majestic. Although I don’t think I’ll buy it, it would be a great investment for the quality and performance.

I was gifted a decant and I must say, one word defines it: ELEGANT. It smells citrusy and neroli-like, yet with a tea base and a hint of smoke that gives it a darker edge. It reminds me of a luxury hotel where everything smells clean and refined. It’s a majestic fragrance; although I don’t think I’ll buy the bottle, it would be a worthwhile investment for its quality and longevity.

  • Simply wonderful. A work of art. The smoky black tea is the star and is utterly addictive. It’s become my favourite bottle. Yes, the price is exorbitant, but the scent is sublime. Elegant.

  • Simply wonderful, a work of art. The smoky black tea note is the star and utterly addictive. I’ve already converted it to a bottle. The price is exorbitant, but the scent is sublime and elegant.

  • What a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t in the mood, but I absolutely loved it. Neroli isn’t usually my strong suit, but here it’s soft, zero sharpness, very agreeable. The star is the smoky black tea, with a warm, balsamic dry-down; the myrrh and benzoin are very noticeable. Overall, it’s a comforting and addictive hug, one you don’t want to end. Unisex and versatile, it works all year round. It doesn’t have much projection, but the skin longevity is high. I recommend giving it a try. It doesn’t beat my favourite (Blue Madeleine), but it’s very good.

  • For the price, I was doubtful, expecting the black tea to make me gag or sound odd. Spoiler: it doesn’t. It’s a lovely black-and-white scent, never dissonant. The neroli and black tea work well together. It reminds me of a sunroom seen from the inside, with the lights on. Elegant and unpretentious.
