Descripción
L'île au thé by Goutal is an aromatic citrus fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2015, this composition was created by Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen. Ah, it also carries the leather note (unlisted), and the tea is from Ceylon.
It’s Annick Goutal’s summer novelty, but I don’t find it particularly special. It’s pleasant, but little more. The citrus opening is noticeable with a green touch, evoking a dry, wild summer island vibe, nothing sweet. I don’t see it as a night scent, though that depends on personal preference. It’s good, but I doubt it will make history for the famous French house. It could become boring as the notes blend together too quickly and stop telling a story.
L’Ile au Thé is fresh and quite green, with the tea as the star. It opens with citrus and soft tangerine, very artificial for the Maison. Then a delicate floral note, like a light breeze on the face, before the tea lingers until the very end. Paired with Duel-style leather and a repetitive musk found in other fresh Goutal scents like Les nuits d’Hadrien. I’m not sure what they were aiming for: it’s an unnatural grassy aroma with a terpene edge, like being in a greenhouse, smelling of plastic. I think they simply got away with it without any effort or risk. Considering Goutal’s great fragrances, I find this one rather weak. Rating: 4.5.

Curiosity: At first, a friend found this an original, lovely herbal tea scent, fresh. But shortly after, even though she had a shower, it was already skin-scent. I call it an interior perfume, hehe. If I were to rate it, I’d give it a 7, but only for interiors. The next day on my skin, that initial projection felt quite alcoholic. Then the tea appeared, but I don’t see the point. Considering the price, I’d give it a 3.
It’s a tangerine tea, but it lasts absolutely nothing. It seems incredibly natural, yet its projection is depressing.
