Nuit et Confidences by Goutal is an oriental fragrance for women. Launched in 2017, this composition was created by Camille Goutal and Mathieu Nardin. In its opening, the fragrance unfolds a vibrant top note of black pepper and bergamot. Smells like Paris at night, with those secret, expensive powders that have already seen the light of day in other fragrances. The musk note with Teint de Neige adds nothing new. The scent smells good, projects well and lasts, but lately Goutal bores me with their launches and fails to surprise. Rating: 5
That nocturnal Parisian scent, with confidences and glamorous makeup powders, we’ve heard it in other perfumes before. The dry-down of musk with Teint de Neige also brings me nothing new. It smells good, is well-made, projects and lasts, but Goutal bores me lately with their launches and surprises nothing. Rating: 5
What a guy, what a cool perfume. It makes me feel super special and comfortable. The bottle is gorgeous, simple and elegant, and with the pompom it becomes quite coquettish. I picked it up at a good price and I love it, although if it runs out, I’ll buy it again even at the normal price. I have an 11-year-old son, a curious little nose that surprises me every day and who is already interested in my modest collection. He loves rummaging through my wardrobe, testing fragrances and giving me opinions that I value immensely. This is his favourite for me, the one he wants to smell all day because it smells divine. When I step out, I’m surprised by the blend of black pepper and bergamot; it’s very balanced and reminds me a bit of some children’s eau de toilette. The evolution is gorgeous, delicious; I don’t notice the incense from the description, which I appreciate as I’m not usually a fan. I do slightly notice the white flowers, tonka bean and musk, and this combination evolves wonderfully on my skin. It lasts more than 8 hours and people smell it and love it. I use it at any time, day and night, and it goes well in both cold and heat. It’s very versatile. I imagine it’s worn by a simple, pretty and nice girl or woman of any age, who at dusk tidies up with a sophisticated touch (perhaps with makeup or a voluminous navy blue scarf around the neck) and goes for a stroll in Montmartre. I don’t reach that level, but the truth is it has conquered me. It may seem simple, but here there is quality, good work and great taste.
Charming and sophisticated, it makes me feel special, comfortable and secure. Buy it now. I love its simple yet elegant bottle, which becomes coquettish and attractive with the pompom. I got it at a good price, which I prefer, but if I run out, I’ll buy it again at the full price if necessary. I have an eleven-year-old son, a curious little nose who surprises me daily and is starting to take an interest in my modest collection. He loves to rummage, test fragrances and gives me advice that I value greatly. This is his favourite scent for me; he wants to smell it all day because it smells delicious. At first spray, I was surprised by the blend of black pepper and bergamot; it’s very balanced and reminds me slightly of a children’s eau de toilette. The evolution is beautiful and delicious; I don’t perceive the incense mentioned in the description, which I appreciate as I’m not usually a fan. However, I do detect white flowers, tonka bean and musk slightly, and this combination evolves wonderfully on my skin. It lasts over eight hours and people notice it and love it. I use it at any time, day or night. I’ve found it pleasant in both cool and hot weather. It’s very versatile. I imagine it’s worn by a simple, pretty and nice girl or woman of any age, who tidies up with a sophisticated touch at dusk and goes for a stroll in the Montmartre district. I don’t quite reach that level, but the truth is it has conquered me. It may seem simple, but there is quality, good craftsmanship and great taste here.
It’s essentially a very sweet gourmand vanilla. It opens with boozy fruity notes and bergamot, then merges with a creamy, caramelised vanilla accented by smoke and florals. At this stage, it reminded me of Orchidee Vanille. As it dries down, the vanilla becomes more woody, though the fruity touches remain; I imagine it as a plum cake soaked in brandy with vanilla cream. I understand the comparisons to Spiritueuse Double Vanille, but I don’t share the opinion: SDV is smokier, spicier, denser, more elegant and nuanced. Nuit et Confidences is more linear, simple, youthful, sweet, fruity and feminine. The longevity is good and the sillage is noticeable for the first hour, before settling to a skin scent for another six hours. As a vanilla lover, what can I say? I adore it and it’s addictive, but it’s not worth the price. It’s very linear and basic. Be aware, it has quality, but Goutal has better perfumes and there are superior, cheaper vanilla options available.
‘Nuit et confidences’ is basically a super-sweet gourmand vanilla. It opens with bergamot and slightly boozy fruity notes. Quickly, a creamy caramelised vanilla joins with a touch of smoke and flowers. In this phase, it reminded me of ‘Orchidee Vanille’. It dries down to a slightly woody vanilla, although the fruity touches remain. I imagine a plum cake with vanilla cream. I understand why people compare it to ‘Spiritueuse Double Vanille’, but I don’t share that opinion. SDV is a much smokier, boozy and spicy vanilla, dense, unisex, elegant and with more nuances. ‘Nuit et Confidences’ is very linear and simplistic, more youthful, sweet, fruity and feminine. The longevity is good and the trail is noticeable for the first hour, then it stays close to the skin for another 6 hours. As a lover of vanillas, what can I say? That I love it and it’s a very addictive scent, but it’s not worth the price. It’s very linear and basic. Watch out, it has great quality but Goutal has more outstanding perfumes and the truth is there are better vanilla options on the market at a lower price.
Sweet and with impressive projection, it comes in an adorable bottle. If you fall in love, for a tenth of the price you could grab Golden Sand by Al Rehab, but this one hasn’t quite convinced me; it’s spicier and more mentholated. It reminds me of something cheap, though I can’t quite place which, much like Casablanca. I prefer Nuit et Confidences, but the price… oh dear!
In a world where vanillas abound in perfumeries, I believe this one stands out decisively and ranks among the best. Nuit et Confidences has a clear inspiration in Guerlain’s Spiritueuse Double Vanille, or at least in the quality of its ingredients. However, this Goutal has a much more velvety texture and at least a couple more layers of aromas. I feel the white flowers are more magnolia, which with the full ensemble give a sweet suede accord, even with a fine fruity touch like red fruit and a spicy note that is the key to avoiding cloyingness. The sweetness of the scent has already been mentioned, but the truth is I believe it maintains a perfect balance for an expected seasonal use for something of this type. I’m not one to categorise perfumes like this, but this one is truly sexy, easy to wear and if the attitude is right, it could be an ideal date perfume. Finally, it may be a bit more feminine, but it didn’t bother me to wear it at all. It has excellent performance and, in the shadow of Ninfeo Mio, I feel this deserves more recognition. Can it recall other perfumes? Obviously, but the quality justifies what is asked in my criteria, as I rarely perceive it thus. Without a doubt, a scent that at night can leave confidences and many other things. Note: 9.5/10 Tested with an original brand sample.
In a sea of vanillas, this one stands out boldly and holds its own against the best. It draws inspiration from Guerlain’s Spiritueuse Double Vanille, yet boasts a velvety texture and greater depth. The white flowers, reminiscent of magnolia, create a sweet suede accord with a delicate red fruity and spicy nuance that prevents it from becoming cloying. It maintains a perfect balance for its season, is incredibly sexy, easy to wear, and ideal for dates if the mood is right. While slightly more feminine, it hasn’t stopped me from using it. The performance is excellent, and in the shadow of Ninfeo Mio, it deserves more recognition. The quality justifies the investment, and at night, it leaves confidence and much more. Rating: 9.5/10.
