Lost Cherry by Tom Ford

This smells rich and sweet, like cherry juice with vanilla, but it gets a bit tiring for me. Although it has vetiver and looks more masculine, I find it feminine. The downside is it doesn’t last or project well; it fades within hours with a weak trail. There’s a similar one from Armaf (Uniq) but with more punch. I wouldn’t recommend buying either without smelling them first. 🕉️🕉️🕉️

I bought a decant to see if it was worth it. It’s not bad, it smells nice, but for the price and the hype, it doesn’t project or last. After four hours, it’s just skin scent. Is it worth the investment? I don’t think so. There are other cherry and almond options with better longevity and price, like the Mayar Cherry.

I was gifted a sample and liked it, so I tried a decant. I have a love-hate relationship with it. The opening I dislike; it’s very sweet and smells like overripe cherries. Once dried, it becomes soft and warm. I won’t spend the money on a full bottle of something that takes me from disgust to liking. Perfumes are for enjoyment, not suffering.

Sometimes I love it and other times I don’t feel like wearing it, but when I do, it’s my signature. It’s complex and well-balanced, a wonder that depends on my mood. Some say it smells like cherry balm, others like cider or clean. It has changing facets that tell a story: starts juicy, then spicy notes, plums and cherries, and finally a velvety Turkish rose. In the end, it’s sweet and spicy, with a hint of dirtiness that makes you feel like a lost cherry in a velvet suit. It reminds me of 90s pink and gold baths, touching up lipstick before welcoming someone special. Intimate dinner, liquor, Portishead and Massive Attack music, an Alaïa coat, silk sheets, and him in his leather jacket. My footsteps on marble, wild hugs but never vulgar. My best blind buy.

I wanted to try it as I can’t find it in local shops and it’s always been hailed as the king of cherries. Upon testing, I understand why it has such good reviews: it smells delicious, like that sour cherry candy but with a wonderful boozy twist. Although my nose isn’t very trained, I don’t find it childish; on the contrary, I see it as super sophisticated for going out at night. I wouldn’t buy it, however, as its longevity and sillage don’t justify the high price (on my skin, by 5 pm it barely smelled anything). It’s unisex, but I feel it leans more feminine.

My wife bought it for me, but as I was tired and hungry, I didn’t try it until the weekend at dinner. Boom! What a delight: it’s sweet, like chewing on a cake cherry with a boozy touch. It’s totally sensual, not for everyday wear, provokes unexpected reactions, and deserves the Tom Ford signature. Pure quality, what a gem! I’d give it a 9 out of 10 as a first impression.

I don’t like strong perfumes and this is one of them. That juicy sweet cherry at first, then mature and powdery, gives me a headache. For some reason it reminds me of death, a putrid smell at the end. It’s an excellent perfume but too strong for my taste; it doesn’t seem rich or sexy to me, but rather decomposing cherry. Too abrupt and invasive, I don’t recommend buying it blindly.

I have a weakness for cherry and this perfume explodes it on the skin, wrapped in almonds, with an explosive opening. Although I don’t find it sweet, it captivates me. Its evolution is as Karl Jaspers said: ‘going on a journey’, where the questions are more important than the answers. The fragrance builds in its phases, taking what came before without abandoning the original cherry but turning into something new. In the second stage the rose takes centre stage by mixing with the boozy cherry, resulting in a more amiable scent. The woody dry-down and vetiver close with a flourish this explosion of pleasure. Delicious, unisex, and with good projection. For occasions where being the main figure is out of the question.

It’s an unpretentious fragrance; the almond note reminds me of body oil. It’s rich, but the projection is very low.

In short: it smells like a cherry soap.

At first, it smells like maraschino cherries, a bit irritating, but once it dries down, it becomes sweet and very pleasant to the nose.

A very good fragrance; it’s one of the few unisex scents I like because most are feminine. It smells of cherry liqueur; for those from Chile, it’s similar to ‘enguindado’ but finer and with ripe cherries. The cherry note is constant and projects well. It feels elegant, though I think it’s more for parties or bars than for everyday wear. The only downside is that its value is too high for a fruity aroma without complex notes to justify it.

Friends, the perfume opens with natural maraschino, a very fine cocktail cherry, a delicious macerated cherry of top quality and nothing synthetic. It maintains a trail of two metres for two hours, then fades but you still feel it in your personal bubble, although you need to reapply after four hours. Delicious, refined and entertaining, it makes you want to smell it all the time, but it’s very expensive for the size of the bottle, which is beautiful; these Tom Ford potions look like magic.

I wore it in winter and in the rain, perhaps it wasn’t the best deployment. It literally smells like maraschino, like a cocktail cherry. It’s very refined, a bit of feminine coquetry. I didn’t detect any almonds or liquor, just the initial preserved cherry or maraschino. Sparse trail and longevity. I’ll try it in spring.
