  • I have a decant and here are my first impressions: The opening hits hard; you need to give it time to let the blend settle. Initially, I detect a lot of saffron, cardamom, and the dark, fruity touch of black cherry. Once it settles on the skin, it softens slightly but (typical of Montale) it remains strong. I notice quite a bit of oud, and the longer it stays on the skin, the more the perfume hardens. In summary, I find it warm, spiced, and fruity, yet not sweet—more acidic, with a touch of sweetness. If you enjoy perfumes with oud, saffron, and leather, you can afford to buy blind. It’s an opulent fragrance, I’d say for evening occasions or going out (I think if I wore it to work, I’d suffocate in the office). The longevity is around 6-7 hours, with moderate trail and powerful sillage.

Charming and with a delightful development. It begins with an opening where the cherry dominates with a good spice load; the first few minutes feel like an acidic fruit, but in a good way. Then it becomes mysterious and attractive, where the heart notes shine. After some time, it turns sweeter and creamier due to the sandalwood, leather, and vanilla sugar, without losing its sexy and mysterious touch. Ideal for parties and night outings. I wouldn’t recommend buying without smelling it first. Overall, it’s a very good perfume in almost everything except versatility, at least to my taste. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10 Trail: 9/10 Versatility: 3/10 Total: 8.7

I found it wonderful. Seconds after application, the top note dominates with pink pepper, plum, and dark, sweet yet bitter cherry, with a slight alcoholic kick. Far from the current jammy, sharp, or romantic cherries; in my view, it’s unisex, leaning masculine or perfect for characterful ladies who can make their presence felt from the opening. The composition is spicy and floral, featuring a notable but distinct rose compared to Black Aoud, Intense Café, or Arabians Tonka, complemented by a cherry reminiscent of Tonka Cola, setting it apart from scents like Ris Tanama. Over time, it gains creaminess with vanilla-scented sandalwood, staying within a fruity gourmand zone with a gentle leather base. Although it seems nocturnal and wintry, I see much more versatility. It’s not for the beach, hiking, or the gym, but ideal when the freshness of the day (late summer, rainy days before autumn, spring, or autumn) invites others to appreciate this delicious aroma, which dries down to a warm, totally unisex scent, leaving behind the masculine bias. On my skin, the intensity fades quickly; after four hours, it’s just a personal bubble (unexpected, considering other Montales last me three times as long, like Arabians Tonka). The only drawback (as with all Montales) is the spray mechanism and cap, which can easily come apart if placed in a bag. A hit with no redundancy in Montale or Mancera, but remember: test before buying, as every nose and skin is a world.

  • I hate oud, but if you’re looking for something dark, woody with cherry notes, it’s a hit. The longevity and projection are top-notch.

  • I definitely hate oud, but if you’re into a dark, woody scent with cherry notes, this is perfect. Excellent longevity and projection.

  • I was hugely surprised. I always associated the cherry note in unisex scents with something feminine, but this changed my mind. Pierre Montale has done a good job. While oriental notes were already present in the house, the blend with saffron, rose, oud, and leather alongside black cherry and plum caught me by surprise. The longevity is incredible, logically due to the tobacco, oud, and vanilla (notes that last). The projection is invasive, leaving a brutal trail. The cherry, oud, pipe tobacco, and vanilla persist throughout the development. It starts with saffron, black cherry, plum, and pink pepper; then the leather, oud, and rose emerge. In the base, the black cherry lingers with tobacco, vanilla, orientals, oud, rose, and tonka bean. It has its downsides: it’s not versatile. Don’t use it at work, the supermarket, or meetings. I see it for informal outings, parties, afternoons, or something sensual and seductive. In my opinion, the bottle is ugly, though I’ve seen worse. In summary, it’s a different, sensual, and party-ready fragrance, ideal for cold nights. I recommend trying before buying blind; it’s niche and can be tricky on every skin.

From my perspective, what stands out most is the plum scent, with a sweet touch and good longevity. It’s not as powerful as Arabian Tonka in terms of projection and tenacity; Infinity is more discreet and less sweet. I don’t feel that potent oud found in other Montale or Mancera fragrances; here it is very soft, almost imperceptible. The tobacco note doesn’t shine for those seeking something like Red Tobacco; it’s far from that, blending with the other elements, though the plum remains the star. I like it; I’m a huge Montale fan.
