I picked this up in Santiago de Chile back in the late eighties; I believe it’s no longer available. It’s a classic, simple, fresh fougère. Over time, I discovered it has a twin, Lapidus’s TED, which is identical: aquatic vetiver notes with a touch of sweetness. It has poor longevity and no sillage.
It opens with bitter absinthe-like citrus mixed with powdery lavender, reminiscent of Le Male in several ways. The heart features aldehydes and flowers with that powdery sensation, settling into dry amber and oakmoss. There’s a soft tonka bean, though I didn’t detect honey or cinnamon. Perhaps Le Male evolved from this; it shares notes but stays in the seventies without that sweet gourmand touch. Ideal for autumn or winter, maybe spring, nothing for summer. On my skin, the sillage was heavy for a while before moderating, with over twelve hours of longevity. My bottle is from the eighties.
