It is that beautiful ambivalence between love and fear. Whether you leap at the moon or dance with the stars, it defines the inner monster and lives the Beauty among the Beasts. Blackcliff’s Beautiful Monster seduces with crackling spices and a magnificent heart of geranium, accented with fine mineral notes. If that is the Beauty, the inner Beast awaits, wrapped in a luxuriously decadent base of leather, labdanum, birch tar, Atlas cedar, smoky guaiac, and patchouli. An irresistible potion. The darkness of birch tar comes through very strongly, mixed with labdanum, black pepper, and mineral notes, giving it a very masculine air and a special density perfect for winter and autumn. Over time, that density softens, giving way to a fougère patchouli, spicy touches of cassia cinnamon, and the gentle woods of guaiac and cedar. I must highlight that I believe this is the most long-lasting of Blackcliff’s fragrances, with good trail and projection. The animal touches of the tar and cinnamon can become heavy on the nose, so it is not for everyone; I suggest trying it before buying blindly.
