  • Sweet opening. Another round of custard please. Light pepper. Some chestnut, some soft wood. Creamy fragrance. I’ve worn it for a couple of days, but I still don’t quite understand it. Perhaps this works better on women; I’m sure it does. It’s not my cup of tea, too sweet, too tobaccoed vanilla. Little smoke, little wood, little fireplace. Quality material that for sure, but the vanilla is very dangerous on my nose, like a second cousin you don’t get on with too much. We’re from the same family, but we see each other very rarely, you sound familiar, he’s nice, but you wouldn’t be with him more than absolutely necessary.

  • I agree with user ‘tizizam’: the aroma has similarity to burnt bonbons, giving that bonfire sensation. A sweet aroma just at the perfect point to be very sweet without being cloying, addictive with the passage of time. It’s not for any occasion; on sunny or hot days it can be too sweet. It’s recommended more for mornings, evenings, or cold days.

  • It’s a quite good fragrance for my taste: woods that for me don’t smell ‘burnt’ but can smell ‘gentlemanly’, and a sweet vanilla that gives contrast and makes it quite wearable for cold occasions, only cold occasions, as it is a fragrance with a strong scent.

  • I have it and am certain it is original. I read reviews talking of vanilla, custard, sweet, but I perceive none of that. Its opening is spicy, too woody, smelling strongly of spices. Its longevity is excellent: I tried washing it off afterwards with no result; it resisted water and soap, which is good for those who like it. It lasted all night; the evolution was towards weaker spices, but sweet notes never manifested. I’ll give it another chance tomorrow to see if it works better this time.

It’s an exquisite fragrance, very ‘flavourful’, one of the first and those that have captivated me the most. It’s quite enveloping, pestering at first, but I enjoyed the sample greatly and longed for the perfume when I felt it days later on the collar of my waistcoats.

I’m late to the hype, but until now I hadn’t encountered a tester for this fragrance. Luckily I didn’t buy it blind. The smell is very smoky, even persisting in the dry-down. The dry-down does sweeten a bit more. I don’t feel like smelling like this, what can I say… As an olfactory experience, it’s OK, but nothing more. Are there perfumes that fit us better to be smelling like smoke?

  • I didn’t believe in magic or perfumes; the world of fragrances had hardened me. Years of smelling recycled, soulless things made me an implacable critic. I mocked ‘olfactory journeys’; for me, they were just chemicals with labels. Until By the Fireplace arrived. It wasn’t a coincidence: it was a grey November afternoon at a tasting with cold lights. Sniffing bottles without finding anything, a voice slid a bottle across the table: ‘Try this,’ said a deep voice. It was an older man with a scar and sadness. I don’t know why I listened. I uncorked the bottle and the world crumbled. The first accord was a lash of smoky wood, not a scent, but wood burning in an old fireplace. I closed my eyes and I wasn’t there; there were no cold lights. I was in another time and place. The charred wood mixed with a comforting toasted vanilla, like a blanket in winter. Then… the chestnut. That warm, smoky, melancholic note struck my heart. I remembered afternoons in childhood by the fireplace, the snow hitting the window, my grandfather’s laughter peeling chestnuts, the smell of pipe tobacco, and the embrace of a winter that no longer exists. I brought my sleeve to my eyes, hiding it. It was late: a rough and cynical critic had cried. How long does it last? Long enough to make you doubt your scepticism. On my skin, a whisper of smoke and vanilla lingered for over eight hours, like an echo of memories that don’t fade. What does it smell like? Nostalgia, a fireplace in a lost cabin, the warmth of a home that perhaps never existed but that we all carry. Since then, I no longer mock olfactory journeys. By the Fireplace took me to a place I didn’t want to leave.

It’s not a BEST MODE, but tested in April (spring) you can’t expect miracles. This is for autumn and winter. To me, it doesn’t smell like a fireplace in a cabin, but rather hot flames roasting chestnuts. It’s very sensual, capable of stealing your senses and winning over wills, like igniting an inner fire that then sets others ablaze. Relying solely on the notes can be misleading: yes, it smells like a bonfire with wood and chestnuts, but then it’s not just the sensation; it’s that you are burning and transmit warmth with intention. Ideal for a dinner and a drink. It goes beyond the description; it’s sensual, a declaration of intent, sometimes sinful. But nothing is a sin with love.

  • It’s a delight and an experience: the scent of smoky wood, ash, and chestnuts… autumn and winter on the skin, a warm and comforting aroma for the cold. I also have Raghba Wood Intense by Lattafa with almost the same DNA, but Replica Fireplace beats it hands down: it’s much more natural, as if you had a fireplace right in front of you. Totally recommended for cold seasons; it’s expensive but worth it if you can afford it.

  • I usually go to the countryside a lot, sleeping in rural hotels or campsites. I only wear this here, and it fits perfectly. It smells like a journey and a countryside experience. It’s a pleasure to be in a rural accommodation in autumn or winter, reading a good book with this on: it literally smells like roasting chestnuts by a fireplace while enjoying something sweet. A perfume for specific situations; it doesn’t quite work for daily use.

  • Elchilenito

A very rich perfume on my skin, lasting 10-12 hours with moderate sillage with 8 sprays and strong with 14. For special occasions and evenings with low temperatures, because in hot climates it becomes too much. I see it as masculine unisex because it’s strong, potent, woody and smoky, though afterwards it becomes sweet but still retains that smoky touch I associate with masculinity. If it has very good longevity. Don’t buy it blind because you’ll either love it or hate it, but for me it’s a 10/10.

  • CrisShock

By the Fireplace: an experience narrated in three acts. It’s not just a perfume, it’s a sensory story. Act I: The Confusion. An ambiguous opening, smoky notes with shy sweetness, all diffuse, as if it didn’t yet know what to say. Act II: The Reign of Smoke. After a few minutes, the smoke takes centre stage, overwhelming and enveloping, almost physical. But in the background there is a subtle sweetness, a promise of Peru balsam and chestnut. Act III: The Revelation. As it dries down, the smoke retreats elegantly and a sublime balance between sweet and smoky appears. As someone newly initiated into niche perfumery, it’s an olfactory bomb. I feel grateful to have found this gem in my first steps. It smells incredible and tells an unforgettable story.

  • descubriendoaromas

It’s a scent that took me a while to understand at first; I had to try it several days. It gives me a subtle impression of bakery vanilla, with a slightly smoky and woody note, plus it feels a bit powdery. It’s cosy, like passing a bakery —not because it smells the same, but because you think: ‘How nice it smells!’. It’s sweet but sophisticated and comforting. It has a nostalgic vibe because it’s warm and has that soft, rich vanilla sweetness. A very good olfactory experience. 100% recommended.

  • Alessandraloren

At first it smells like cannabis, then as it burns comes the sweetness of chestnuts, and finally it dries down to woods and vanilla. In the dry-down it resembles Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford greatly, though this one is more feminine with a more exquisite caramel-like burnt sweetness. On my skin, the smokiness prevails from the start. I find that every time I wear this, I feel the need to put on a juicy or citrus perfume because the smokiness is too much. Longevity and sillage last until the next day.

  • Quite a premium fragrance. Depending on the day, I like it more or less. Some days I feel I’m by the fire with some marshmallows, sweet, woody and cosy, but other days it smells like burnt wood, like a barbecue. It’s very subjective, absolutely not something to buy blind; you have to experiment and wear it at the right time, but it’s incredible and exotic. Longevity and projection are moderate, nothing extraordinary, a good piece for a collection, special and unconventional. It’s an experience, hard to explain.

  • For me, it’s a combo of balsamic woods and sweet smoked chestnuts… it doesn’t smell like chopping wood or clouds/toasted marshmallows. It’s a very woody but wearable scent, I don’t see it as so polarising, though I understand it depends on the skin. Performance is very good, totally unisex and winter-appropriate. Very, very rich.

  • This perfume is a curious experience; at first, my friend and I smelled it as a lit fire, wonderful. After a few days, another friend said it smelled like bacon-flavoured chips to him. Now I can only smell that. Chips with bacon.

  • A light touch of clouds toasting in a fireplace with plenty of vanilla, an absolute bomb in projection and longevity. Its warmth makes it ideal for extremely cold climates.

  • This fragrance is a moment. Upon spraying, it smells of burnt wood, liquor and a subtle vetiver, then the chestnuts enter, making it edible without losing the strength of the guaiac wood and cloves. Those around you don’t get that intense smell, but rather an ambered wood, chestnuts and vanilla. Impressive.

  • I absolutely loved it! With all the comments I had doubts about whether it would finally convince me, but it did. It has a serious aroma, evolves well and is elegant. It maintains the longevity perfectly. I have to try it more, but I absolutely loved it!

  • I’m annoyed that people keep adding Arabic inspirations and making it vulgar; with that potency, anyone could wear a horrible synthetic fragrance and pass it off as this, but does By the Fireplace smell like that? To be fair, it’s a lovely scent, those smoked chestnuts and wearable smoke make for a delicious EDT in just the right measure. It’s brilliant for cooler weather, not overpowering, comforting and pleasant.

  • I expected more. I did like it, yes. I would buy it too. But I would use more others like Autumn Vibes and Whispers in the Library. It felt like being in a cabin room in the middle of winter, or like a new wool sweater (not the shop-bought kind, but those artisanal ones they give you as gifts). The fire is there, especially when it dries down, and the sweet wood stands out well.

  • I love it. That smoky chestnut scent, the woody vanilla and Peru balsam is what I feel and adore most. It’s a dense smoky fragrance with lots of character. I would recommend not buying it blindly and it’s definitely for temperate to cold weather.

  • I like it; it smells of burning wood at first, then a rich sweetness comes out to return to the scent of burning wood. I wouldn’t wear it on my skin, it’s very masculine, but it would be excellent on a candle for an autumn afternoon while eating chestnuts 🍂 🌰

  • Woman in Love

Everything is quite simple. A cold day, you light the fireplace, settle into an armchair with a good slice of aromatic vanilla cake, and stay there enjoying the smoke and vanilla filling the air. A very, almost unnervingly, realistic perfume. Longevity is average.

  • I was looking for something that smelled of burnt wood and that smoke that lingers on clothes after lighting the fireplace at home. I wanted something photorealistic. They recommended it to me, so here’s the review for those seeking that. There will be many reviews of ‘burning wood’, and while true, it’s only half the story. Don’t believe me, it’s not the overall sensation. You’ll smell the burnt wood very faintly, almost only when it dries down, and you need to use your imagination. What this really smells of is chestnuts, cinnamon and vanilla. My attempt at a photorealistic description: imagine being in a café or cabin; at the other end, there’s a fireplace roasting chestnuts. You feel the warmth of the fire and the scent of chestnuts. The walls are wood, there are books on the shelves, and you’re having a warm pumpkin spice latte with vanilla.

  • Joel_aguilarr

It’s the quintessential winter perfume (I admit I have other great ones for the cold). From the first spray, it transports you elsewhere, to a warmer place. I see many talking about its sillage, but from my experience, that’s a myth: standing still at 10 metres, someone told me I smelled of it; I only wore 5 sprays, which is normal for me. Overall, it gets many compliments, it’s complete, has good longevity and projection. If you’re looking for reactions and to feel superior in the room, this is your perfume.

  • From the very first spritz, By the Fireplace captures that magic of ‘smelling like Christmas’. Although I’ve never stood in front of a real fireplace, the fragrance recreates that cosy, warm atmosphere. The citrus merely balances, while the clove and chestnut set the spiced, gourmand tone. With attention, I detect a sweet smoky touch, like a toasted dessert with a hint of char. As it dries, it doesn’t lose its charm: a dark, toasted and creamy vanilla emerges, rounded by the softness of cashmeran. It invites special moments, perfect for end-of-year parties when seeking something comforting. My rating: 9.5/10. It’s a delight that blends sweetness, smoke and spices in a unique balance, ideal for those who want to celebrate with scent and warmth.

  • Already in winter I can’t stop wearing it. Paired with Jazz Club, it’s the jewel of the Maison. Not everyone likes it straight out of the bottle, but once it dries down, that’s when it truly shines: nothing like a roaring fire or smoke; in just 40 minutes it becomes irresistible, super warm and special. Unisex, perfect for the cold, dates, or staying in watching Christmas movies (like Die Hard ^^).

  • Obviously a winter bomb; the burnt wood aroma is a genuine delight and is enjoyed in its dry-down phase. I own Ameer al Oud and it bears no resemblance to it; both go for wood but Ameer is sweeter. This outperforms it in longevity.

  • Dama Incognita

It reminds me of seasonal hot chestnuts, with a sweet burnt wood scent. It brings back nostalgia of trips to the Old Continent in winter and chestnut stalls. Really, this house makes you remember moments, hence its name ‘REPLICA’.

  • If you’re looking for something heavy, it’s not for you. It’s a superbly made cologne that literally smells like a bonfire with chestnut. Perfect for dates, enclosed spaces, or ‘you and me’ moments. It’s my favourite from the Replica line, although there are other good ones.

  • scentedjimenq

I went excited to try it with the notes. I like the smoke, the chestnut, the vanilla, the bergamot and the pepper… but the burnt wood smell dominated much too much, both in the opening and the dry-down. I only perceived a hint of chestnut making an effort. I didn’t test it on skin and it seemed very literal to me, more convincing as a candle or room scent than as a perfume.

  • A day before trying it, we prepared atole with wood and a comal; the smell of burnt wood from the atole always sounds delicious to me. The next day I smelled this perfume and it reminded me of that: strong wood with a layer of vanilla dessert. It brought back the moment of my mother making that atole, perfumed for winter.

  • Very polarising: none of my circle liked the opening. Smells like extinguishing a fire or smoke on clothes, burnt wood that lasts a few minutes before the vanilla and chestnut try to balance it out. It’s not linear and not for everyone. It doesn’t smell bad, but I only see it as an olfactory experience, not for daily wear.

  • ale.flanagan

Fresh, spicy, and almost peppery opening: cloves, pink pepper, bergamot and juniper. Then comes the heart of chestnut and guaiac wood which lasts through the dry-down. The base of vanilla, Peruvian balsam and cashmere harmonises everything and lingers until the end. Although it’s an EDT, it lasts 12 hours and projects perfectly without being overwhelming. Many people love it; my mother receives compliments and a friend said it smelled like ‘a pot of chocolate’. Do not wear it above 16°C or in sweaty areas, or it smells like frying. A warm masterpiece.

  • Simply perfect. I’m a fan of woody and sweet scents and this is the ideal blend. I recommend it for indoors because it stands out in close proximity; at first it projects excessively (I love it!) but then it becomes intimate. It’s noticeable on the skin the next day, so it’s very personal. High-quality and well-crafted notes, I’m addicted, it’s my favourite.

  • fedemenendeez

An olfactory challenge, finding the right moment to wear it is difficult, but the experience is wonderful. Replica tries to recreate different instants, and this winter version by the fire is very well achieved. It’s fun, distinct, and has an intense sweetness with a very accomplished smoky note.

  • weirdquartz

A warm masterpiece: my first unisex and it has the perfect balance. Smells like a fireplace with roasted figs, sweet but not overpowering. The smokiness is delicious and lingers on the skin for hours, although the projection is only strong for the first two hours and the longevity is around 6-7 hours. It’s not for everyone; two out of four people I tried it on didn’t like it, so better to test before buying. Still, given the notes, I expected more longevity, but what it has is adequate.
