I don’t find much resemblance to By the Fireplace when testing them on the arms. They follow the same line, but By the Fireplace is sweeter, a smoky sweet. In Bohemian Oud, the note that stands out most is cacao, followed by incense, pepper, and leather; I don’t find vanilla here. It’s a good scent, niche quality. If you like its notes, it will be for you. I think the resemblance is 80%.
I bought it because of the hype that it’s a clone of By the Fireplace, which, by the way, I don’t know either. To me, this ‘perfume’ doesn’t work as a perfume; basically it smells burnt, smoky, and incensey, sometimes slightly sweet like breakfast chocolate powder. It’s an interesting olfactory experience, but it’s not suitable for going dressed up and smelling like a classy diva. It could smell like a cabin with fire remnants and a burning incense stick. It’s not for perfuming a person, perhaps for ambienting a place. To be a personal perfume, it should carry more floral or fruity notes, like La Nuit de Tresor. It seems unfinished. I grabbed it out of impulse and I regret it; although it’s cheap, I don’t know what to do with it and it’s wasted money. The longevity is very good with a trail.
The opening is puuuf, bad. On my skin, I feel a burnt plastic note, but in the heart phase it starts to get very good: a smell of cacao, incense, and a very potent toasted vanilla. The oud shines by its absence or at least I don’t notice it. The projection and longevity are incredible; it lasts more than 12 hours on my skin without needing reapplication. It projects well for the first 5-6 hours. I’ve tried it in the heat and it lasts forever. It smells like a niche perfume and of high quality. It’s not a blind buy, better to test first, especially for untrained noses. Price-quality is unbeatable. For me, it’s a work of art from Zara.
Simply fascinated. It’s a new scent for me and I understand the controversy over whether it’s masculine or smells like burnt plastic. I also don’t know if it’s a dupe of Replica, but what I do know is that I’ve loved it. You have to resist the initial burst because it’s a powerful mix of leather and incense. The magic is in the dry-down: an exquisite blend of vanilla, cacao, and leather. Totally unisex and sexy to death.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, but not for everyone’s taste. In my case, love at first sniff, but I DO NOT advise buying without smelling it first (they are of those that create love/hate). It has enchanted me, but I’ll keep it until autumn-winter. I haven’t tried By the Fireplace, but it reminds me of Mugler’s A Angel and Black Phantom, so if you like those, it could be a cheap and good option. On my crocodile skin it holds very well and the performance is quite good. It’s a wonderfully unisex perfume, leaning more towards the ‘masculine’ (although I’m over that). It will look much better in the cold; in the heat, it’s easy not to like it. Also, strangely, I don’t notice anything artificial. The scent and performance, considering the price-quality ratio, are 10 for me, but I insist, it won’t be to everyone’s taste: Huzzah to Zara for taking the risk!
It’s a strong perfume due to the incense, with a tendency towards the masculine side, although everyone has their own tastes. The longevity exceeds 8 hours, projection is normal for about 2 hours. It’s very pleasant and warm, but honestly not very versatile, definitely for autumn and winter.
I can’t describe the first impression, I just know I jumped for joy! What a find with Zara! I bought it because I love By the Fireplace and wanted to see if they were similar. Brutally yes! I compared them and the resemblance is 90%. Given the Zara price versus the original, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to choose this. I’ll use it daily and the original for special occasions. On my skin, it smells the same: incense, chestnuts, and vanilla when dry. I don’t notice a burnt plastic smell, although every nose is different. The longevity is a spectacle. If you can’t afford the original, don’t hesitate to buy this gem that smells like a niche scent and lasts just as long.
The first time I used it, I was doubtful because of how unusual it is, especially at the start. But over time, as it settled on my skin, it became a gradual, romantic, and intense infatuation. Now it’s one of my favourites. I still haven’t decided if it’s more for evening/night, but it accompanies me faithfully and gets sexy all day. Although I’m not an expert, it smells like an expensive, exquisite, and fine perfume.
I ordered Zara’s Bohemian Oud attracted by notes like pepper, incense, oud, and cacao. I seek powerful, spicy, salty, and personality-filled perfumes. After reading reviews and giving it a go, I was greatly disappointed: on my skin, it smells just like VS’s Vanilla, hyper-sweet. Although I already use the Zara one, this is another level of cloyingness, nothing like it. I’ve had good experiences with other Zara scents, but this isn’t for me. I’ll keep buying for the quality and price, but I recommend testing it on skin before purchasing.
I fell in love; I can’t believe I found such a special and affordable fragrance. It appeared months ago at Zara, catching my eye, but there were no stores with stock in Valencia, so I passed. Yesterday, walking through my native Granada, I entered Zara, incited by my nephew, and while we were in the queue, there it was. I needed to try it, and the magic was instantly unleashed. The first few minutes are intrusive, smelling of pure church incense, something I already liked, but during my afternoon walk the scent evolved: the incense sweetened, it was no longer church, now it was incense with dusted cocoa and a delicious vanilla that made me feel wrapped in warmth. I like it this way even in August. It’s a delicious and cosy scent that makes me want to smell myself constantly and curl up peacefully. I don’t find it strong or impossible to wear; rather, it’s soft and accompanies you. Slightly spiced, yes sweet, but not synthetic. It lasts about 6 hours on my skin, with light projection but the scent makes up for everything. It stayed in my collection; late in the afternoon, I had to take it home. It’s not an elegant scent, but it could perfectly be someone’s personal scent. It evokes the same feeling as L by Lolita Lempicka or Choco Musk, without being the same; they make me feel the same, at home.
Bought it blindly based on reviews, looking for something different. At first, the incense was too strong and didn’t convince me, so I put it away. A month later, I tried it again and absolutely loved it: it’s sweet and delicious.
I adore it. I grabbed it on the first or second day of its launch, seeing it by chance, without reviews or knowing if it resembled others… I just smelled it and it was love at first sniff. I love the opening, that wonderful incense scent that gradually sweetens with the cocoa. On my skin, it has very good longevity; on clothes, let’s not even talk… until you wash it. I don’t find it masculine at all. I’d buy it again without a single doubt.
It smells like church incense with a very sweet cocoa added. Curiously, I love it; it’s very addictive, but for personal enjoyment. I wouldn’t wear it out, I don’t see it as versatile. Totally unisex and winter. Very good longevity with moderate sillage.
Although it’s compared to Fireplace, it’s not its dupe. It’s in the same style, but they aren’t the same: Fireplace is smokier, while this is sweeter. It’s a very pleasant and sweet scent with good skin longevity for the price. You get a product with good performance, although Fireplace has higher quality. In summary, it’s an inspiration, not a dupe.
Addictive fragrance. One of the few ouds I’ve tried that I’d actually wear. Perhaps I’ll buy it. I see it as a Good Girl with oud or a Black Opium with oud… It’s feminine, but not girly. I don’t see it as masculine. Let everyone wear what they want…
Cocoa and incense… a very pleasant and addictive fragrance… luckily it’s back on sale in Spain.
No beating around the bush: it smells like a Faber-Castell wooden pencil. It transports me back to childhood, when I’d sharpen my pencils to draw… excellent longevity.
It smells like church incense, very penetrating. There might be cocoa in the base, but it’s not chocolate at all; rather, it adds a sweetness that ends up being cloying. I wouldn’t wear it.
I bought it blind because ‘By The Fireplace’ is my favourite perfume, though I don’t wear it daily. As it’s affordable, I sprayed it without smelling it first. Although they aren’t identical, I adore them; it’s elegant and has good longevity. It’s quite sweet, so for me, it’s a winter scent. The smell can become a bit heavy, but it’s good, pleasant, and economical for cold days.
I tried it in a shop and the moment I smelled it I was smitten. It smelled of intense incense, like walking into an Orthodox church. I didn’t want to buy anything but I ended up getting it. The opening was spectacular, I wanted something special and unique. To my misfortune, after an hour there wasn’t a trace of incense left, just vanilla with cacao. I was very disappointed so I returned it. It wouldn’t be a bad perfume if I hadn’t had such high expectations, but it’s frustrating to see it disappear so quickly. I prefer linear fragrances that don’t break your heart. If you like scents that evolve and are prepared to smell like a church before turning into dessert, here is a very good option.
It’s a lovely fragrance. The opening is a bit generic, but then a rich scent settles in, blending oud, incense, and fresh herbs, finishing very cleanly. You have to be patient, but after a few minutes, it’s absolutely worth it. 🕉️
I loved it when I tried it, but when I was told it smelled like a pencil-shavings bin… it’s true, it does smell like that. 😆 They ruined it for me. It now lives in another home.
I loved it. It doesn’t smell like what everyone else usually wears, that trend everyone is following. For me, it isn’t. You need to give it time because the incense is strong at first, but then it develops nuances that I adore. It has personality and stands out from the crowd. Clothes smell of it for days.
Blind buy searching for church incense and OMG, I loved it. It’s church incense at the start, but then it turns sweet and that predominates. I wish for a perfume with that incense from start to finish.
Quite good and long-lasting oud. Very harsh at first, the opening is intense, but then it stays rich and fresh. Something fascinating. Very similar to Lattafa’s Badee al Oud, another gem. 100% recommended.
Smells entirely of church incense and lasts for hours on the skin, it just won’t go away.
Opens with a smoky note, like standing beside a brazier, then vanishes in seconds to give way to woods and sweets, like roasting marshmallows on aromatic woods. I was fascinated by it. I have five from Zara and this is my favourite. It lasts eight hours on my skin and on clothes until I wash them.
I love it. The opening is an intense, dark church incense. Once it dries down on my skin it becomes very sweet, with cacao and burnt vanilla. Yes, the scent is a bit aggressive, but just right. I barely notice the oud. Good perfume, lasting a decent 6/7 hours.
I’d been testing it for ages and waited for the cold weather to buy it. It finally arrived and I snapped it up. That mix of incense, cacao and spices is brilliant. It awakens my transcendental side and the perverse one that can’t stop eating chocolate. People say it leaves a good trail. The longevity could be better, but the opening is very punchy. At £20 it’s a great buy. If you like dark, spicy perfumes, give it a try.
A blend of Armani Privé Bois d’Encens with chocolate notes
A fragrance that I liked at first sniff and didn’t hesitate to take home; the opening is powerful, mixing incense and chocolate. After about 15-20 minutes, it becomes a softer aroma, vanilla-chocolate. Ideal for cold climates and casual use; in my case, I combine it with Zara’s Tender Amber. Just be careful with the number of sprays: longevity on skin 6-7 hours, projection 1h30 to 2h. Price 10/10, longevity 10/10, projection 9/10.
In the opening it smells identical to By the Fireplace. But as it dries, the scent splits into two paths: the Zara version is more monotonous and lacks evolution, whereas By the Fireplace takes an evolution while maintaining its base.
It’s as if you have a campfire and a pot of hot colacao warming up. I love it. Sophisticated and quintessentially winter. I usually wear it on crisp summer days when I miss the sweet winter bombs that the stifling heat won’t let me use. Gentlemen, what a magnificent perfume. The pity is that I bought the 30ml. The large bottle is coming with me for the autumn/winter season soon. If you have the chance, don’t miss out, try it.
Incense and cocoa, what could possibly go wrong?
This is my favourite Zara perfume; I suffer every time I see it being discontinued (it usually returns, now there’s the 30ml version online). It was through this that I started exploring incense perfumes. In the opening, I notice lots of black pepper that turns into a delicious vanilla-chocolate incense 🤤🤤. The longevity isn’t extraordinary but it clings well to the skin, just like the projection. People have complimented it on occasion, but I wear it myself and I love it 😍😍. To me, it doesn’t resemble By the Fireplace; I understand they share the same vibe, but this is more chocolatey incense and less burnt wood with vanilla. As I say, it’s one of my must-haves ❤️
Perfect for a rainy, grey winter day. Its scent evokes the wood of church pews, an old trunk or an ancient ship. It makes you connect with something transcendent.
I bought it blindly because of the wonderful reviews, but I have to admit it disappointed me. I was expecting leather or oud notes that are completely absent. It came across as cloying and very synthetic, and that sweetish blend of incense and chocolate didn’t convince me either, even though it sounds good on paper. The performance is poor and it sits right on the skin almost immediately. In short, nothing special. I think it’s the weakest in the entire Zara Chapter 4 collection.
What a lovely perfume. Spiced, sweet and I detect a hint of boozy warmth. The cocoa lingers much longer than the leather in the dry down. I’ve been letting it macerate since last year, but my only gripe is that it doesn’t last nearly long enough for the ingredients it claims; it should be an Arab bomb, but you have to reapply very quickly. I love the scent, will I repurchase? Sadly, no, due to its poor longevity.
I walked into Zara with plenty of time and headed straight to my favourite section. I was drawn in by the notes; I adore incense but had never been convinced until I was looking for something for autumn/winter. The opening is a brilliant incense, and as it dries, it leaves a woody vanilla with cocoa, yet there’s something more that makes it elegant, sexy and distinct. It lasted my entire shift on my wrist. I now have it in my collection and I miss it…
Smells like pure incense. Out of all the Oud line, this was the one that didn’t hit me too hard.
