I like the aroma, but not to wear it. It happens to me with gourmands as dessert: I love them but I don’t feel comfortable wearing them during the day. In my opinion, it is an aroma to enjoy in private.
What a fantastic perfume! It is super unisex because although it is a hymn to vanilla, the spices are always there, just like the vanilla. It is not one of those that change; it smells like those two notes all the time. The longevity is eternal.
I read recommendations and decided, but it is nothing like I expected. It does not smell as original nor as spicy. The longevity is medium-low and the projection almost non-existent. Perhaps because I use a lot of niche oriental and Arabic perfumes, it sounds light to me. I don’t feel cardamom or chai, but intense fennel and anise, a citrus touch and molasses in the base. It reminds me of an amber shaving balm from my grandfather mixed with India Pears soap. Smell of the past, of a century-old grandfather’s bath.
I was one of the brave ones who bought blindly due to the reviews saying it is unique. I threw myself into the pool and found a very spicy and delicious chai tea. On my nose, I notice a lot of cumin, then a fleeting citrus touch of mandarin, afterwards clove and cardamomo. It feels powdery and warm, gourmand but like spiced food or drink, like going to a tea house to read a book enjoying the tea.
What a proper beast! It is a bomb of trail and longevity, of those that are no longer seen. It has a vintage touch with strong spices, as if you had dropped the bottle of chai infusion. The vanilla is another matter, not so creamy but real. I used it for layering with Mademoiselle Twist and Lolita Lempicka; it made it super hugging. The Elephant is very potent; three sprays can knock you out, better with a soft layer of vanilla to balance this beast.
Greetings perfume lovers: With pleasure, I must tell you that I bought Kenzo Jungle Elephant blindly, yesiii… I took a risk since I have the problem that perfumes don’t last on my skin; I said if life is beautiful, it didn’t work, it will be my last opportunity with scents. And despite the fact that in some reviews it is pointed out as fumigant, stingy, spice market, etc., I must say it has been a total success. Very happy with my purchase; on my skin, the scents of vanilla, clove, amber, and patchouli stand out; it is a delicious sweet, a unique aroma. For me, it has not been anything stingy, nor of nuclear trail; rather, its trail on my skin projects moderately and I have received compliments. It has been 8 hours on skin and I still feel it, many thanks Dominique Ropion for such a brilliant creation. I hope the house Kenzo never discontinues it because it will definitely be part of my collection from now on. Greetings from Ecuador.
What a lovely and rare thing this Jungle L’Elephant is. Those who defined it as a powerful beast in its opening are right; those who pointed it out as clearly unisex are too. I am part of the club that considers this fragrance a bold beauty, a secret miracle among so many cloned, weak, and unimaginable fragrances. This elephant lives in the tropical jungles of Asia under a thick, shady canopy where light never reaches the black, moist, and mossy fragrant earth. It debates between being serious and formal but also original and adventurous. There will be those who do not dare to wear it, not just because they dislike it. It is not an easy fragrance, so one must wait for the torrid novelty of the opening to emulsify with the natural oils of the skin: the result is a warm and throbbing beast that moves between the closed foliage leaving its animal scent mark among the leaves. It is true that it is a spice bomb (it reminds me a bit of Noël biscuits, like gingerbread that my friend gave me last Christmas) but with an astringent and powdery base, like earthy pepper (which must undoubtedly be cumin and perhaps also caraway). That note is the one that holds the reins from start to finish and prevents the sweetness of the clove and cardamom from flying too far. It has a bitter aftertaste, like a good balsamic gin served with tonic water. Despite the years, I had no notion of its existence and I must thank this page and the user reviews for having discovered it. It will be time to begin a new stage of olfactory maturity. On my skin, it evolves slowly without spoiling. Excellent longevity. Projects without overwhelming. I reapply after a while. I couldn’t find the vanilla or the super spicy rice pudding and they have just arrived, almost with tenderness. And it is very true that it smells like a bit of spicy cinnamon at first without having cinnamon. A beauty. One must let it be before issuing a verdict, complex and surprising at every moment.
I have no idea which YouTuber said the Kenzo with the plastic cap wasn’t as potent as the old metal one. Good heavens, let them look, because this is a proper beast; I don’t know what more longevity and projection one could ask for in life. If the other was stronger, it’s at the level of an atomic bomb. I sprayed it yesterday in a store on blotting paper and on skin. Of the others, not a trace remains. Perhaps luck and holding the nose very close to the paper reveal some restrained floral notes here and a touch of patchouli there; the majority of the new sweet and mainstream scents are just like them, pleasant photocopies of one another but “bah”. This is the exact opposite: strong, with a grip, robust, dense. Today I smell like an elephant: the scarf, the coat, the bag, the hallway of the house, and the whole life. Normally I take a few weeks or even months to write a review until I get used to the perfume, test it in different seasons, moments, and situations, as perfumes change depending on many factors. But in this case, it has gotten into my head so thoroughly, as if we’ve already spent half a life together, covering everything else and saturating the pituitary gland. It has interplanetary persistence and performance; I believe they are smelling it from the NASA space station too 🤣. Of course, it leaves no one indifferent. As already said, it belongs to the warm spicy family; it smells like a bomb of spices, specifically the “good” part of cloves, which are slightly sugared, lightly dusted with cinnamon. The mandarin in the opening is not noticeable as such but makes the cloves a bit more “fresh”. Understand fresh not as synonymous with light, but as making it luminous and removing that dark and bitter part of the natural clove. It definitely smells very realistic, nothing synthetic, autumnal or winterly. I don’t feel the rest of the notes as such. I don’t know if it’s suggestion from having read other reviews, but I can understand the rice pudding thing. Linear, unisex. In conclusion, I still have to decide if I like smelling like this every day; in this sense, it’s not very versatile, doesn’t serve for layering, and I think I could get saturated. I don’t know if I like it as a personal fragrance or if I see it more as a home diffuser. Of course, if they discontinue it, I would buy a small bottle; one must recognise it is a masterpiece and the one who created this fixative, a genius.
It’s a good perfume, with good longevity and projection, but at first, it results very spicy for me. What I like most is that touch of rice pudding with lots of powdered cinnamon. I gave it to my husband and he loved it, until he gave me many compliments.
What a beast of a perfume! 🤩 Love at first sniff ❤️; I tried it and thought: I need this now! I bought it instantly 😃. It’s an absolute bomb; shamefully, perfumes like this no longer exist, and the few that do are rare. Every time I wear it, I feel like I’m eating delicious rice pudding 🥛, cinnamon, vanilla, and chocolate 🫕. I adore it; it’s the best vintage and unique scent. Longevity 10/10, sillage 10/10, projection 10/10. Tremendous power 💣! I recommend it for cold climates. If you can try it before buying, that’s better! Don’t recommend buying blindly! ☝️🤭😁
Totally unisex and niche quality. While Moschino Toy Boy is packed with people reeking of roses, this Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant is a veteran, nineties scent that smells heavily of spices (cumin, cloves which smell like cinnamon to me, caraway, cardamom), flowers (ylang-ylang, gardenia, heliotrope, vanilla), and herbs (licorice, patchouli) on an amber base. Many people associate it with cinnamon rice pudding, a traditional homemade dessert, but it’s not a gourmand. Performance is enormous; the trail is heavy and it projects massively for the first two hours. It’s not a Spicebomb, but it has very high longevity, easily 10-12 hours without issue. It’s a super-spiced, oriental, and potent aroma. You won’t go unnoticed. The shy should abstain. Moderate and interesting price (€40-50 for 30ml, €50-70 for 100ml). Not for children. It has character. Advice: no more than 3-4 sprays or it’s super-overpowering, and never in the heat; better for spring or autumn/winter evenings. High versatility, though there are more appropriate options for formal events. Verdict: a cult classic scent. For yourself, ladies and gentlemen.
I adore this perfume, but the note that stands out most on my skin is the cumin, and I feel I smell like food 🥺. I’ve opted to wear it on clothes only.
I tried it in-store. Although it was a bargain, I didn’t buy it. It felt overwhelming, especially with this crazy heat we’re having now and winters getting shorter by the day. I wished I could like it, but I just couldn’t handle it.
I went for it blindly, wary because people say it’s very strong and some detect a food-like smell from the cumin, but I loved it. On my dry skin, it’s a sweet citrus where mandarin, mango, and vanilla stand out.
I was eager to try this perfume and finally managed to get it. Very original, spiced with a citrus and floral touch, it does not leave you indifferent. I find it special and unique. I would not recommend buying it blindly. The pity is that it is hard to find. P.S.: the review by @_India_ seems very accurate. Thank you to everyone who contributes such lovely reviews. Edit: I cannot explain what makes it addictive. It transports you, taking you to places in the Far East, immersing you in the scents of some market where, all together, they may be overwhelming but harmonise well and feel warm. It is unique.
I looked it up based on reviews and its reputation for longevity. Upon spraying, pum! It was hyper-strong; I thought I’d made a mistake. I let it dry on the blotter, and after a few hours, I actually liked it, noticing that rice pudding scent. I tried it on my skin with the intention of buying it, but… it smells like old lady talcum powder mixed with a smoke shop. Longevity is 20/10; it lasted days on my coat, but it’s not for me. It sounds very much like the 90s.
Mmm, let me try to explain… I also find it totally addictive. That blend of spices with a slight kick… puff, for me it is masterful. Describing it as custard or Christmas seems like a very simple way (no insult intended, eh?) to define it. The name fits perfectly. If you are not careful with the dosage, you definitely put an elephant in the room. And yes, it suits cold weather better. But for those of us lucky or unlucky enough to live in very hot areas, it is once again a matter of mastering the application. It is not for everyone. Is it worth it? It is not easy to find, let alone try. That said, once you own the bottle, it lasts an eternity. How wonderful.
Ugh, a customer asked me for this in tester format for her sister, mistakenly believing it was more concentrated… the scent leaks from the packaging, permeates everything, and even seeps into other perfume boxes. Let me clarify that Kenzo Jungle Woman is not a modern eau de cologne that evaporates in minutes; it is a perfume with immense personality, certainly not for shy women or those who wish to remain unnoticed. It opens with a powerful burst of spicy notes and pure patchouli, giving way to a surprisingly sweet vanilla base. The longevity on skin and clothes is eternal, and the trail is extremely invasive; I see it as ideal for the red carpet, gala dinners, or outdoor parties. It delivers perfectly, but in small, enclosed spaces, it is disastrous—you will be asked to leave.
The moment I tried it, I thought this was for a lady. I’m not talking about age or era, but attitude, temperament, experience and character. It’s like saying there are many men but few gentlemen. A lady with armies and loyal generals, seeking and winning over kings as strong as herself. Setting imagination aside: the sprays are measured because it projects strongly and lasts longer than usual. It’s not for sensitive places like hospitals or care homes; it can overpower others and make the evening uncomfortable. I don’t understand the name ‘Jungle L’Elephant’ except for India and that courtly imagery. It’s very spiced, with clear stages where everything has its place. I’ve loved it and already have it for personal use. Can a gentleman wear it? Of course, though I use it more femininely. It’s difficult to test but worth the effort.
There are already countless reviews explaining everything and repeating themselves but I just want to say it’s a marvel. At least the version with the heavy metal elephant cap is an absolute gem. For me it’s pure unisex.
A mature and exquisite perfume. I love the warmth of its notes; it reminds me of arroz con leche or a flan, with Christmas spices. The spicy aroma feels welcoming and balanced without anything standing out too much. IT IS NOT A CURRENT TREND but it is a delight. Suitable for a somewhat adult, mature age range, nothing youthful and far from the typical cotton-sweetness of young perfumes.
What a pity I can’t enjoy it. Given its olfactive family, it seemed destined to be my favourite, but after trying it in the shop, I was very disappointed. It’s not a perfume for me.
I absolutely love it! I feel the spice, but my partner says it smells floral to them. It lasts a long time and projects well. I put it on at 8 pm to go out, and the next day, when I woke up at 11, there was still scent on my skin. It lasted even longer on my clothes. It’s for original people.
What an addictive, warm, spicy scent! Intense, exotic, with excellent longevity and projection. No wonder it’s a favourite for so many. A must-have for any collection, timeless. As night falls, its aromas offer comfort, ward off the bad, and bless the home. Not just for Halloween, but all year round: custard, hearth, family, pack, those necessary moments of solitude, that paradox of the everyday. Summer nights and lights, autumn, winter, and spring. Not lactonic, but vanilla-based. Not yellow, but golden. Comforting spices; two sprays are more than enough. The golden elephant opens paths, removes obstacles, symbolising positive energy, power, joy and optimism, so it’s very auspicious when it manifests like this, a powerful animal that learns loyalty from a young age. Unisex, spicy but not sharp, more calm, more beige. Like riding a bike, once you’ve smelled Jungle L’Elephant, you never forget it. It’s a scent that takes you to paradise, your home, or your favourite place. So enveloping… it alters the senses. 🕯️ 10/10.🔥
It reminds me of a more relaxed, less alien version of Cacharel’s Eden, though I can’t quite explain why. It’s sweet and rich, not what I was expecting. I was hoping for something brighter, not a confusing blend, and wished it had been spicier and bolder. It has me completely lost.
What a delight, a perfect match. I haven’t worn her yet because she’s 100% for winter; autumn has only just begun and she needs temperatures below 10 degrees to avoid being so invasive.
One of my signature scents among more than 100. I tried it at Selfridges and they had it hidden away because it’s vintage; at first, it overwhelmed me, but after five minutes, I wouldn’t part with it. I love it.
Not a buy-in-the-dark fragrance; test it first. The spices are very noticeable, it lasts forever and is better in winter. It’s for mature women; the notes don’t make her feel youthful.
The best of my 300+ fragrances: beastly, imposing, sweet and sensual from the very first moment. With so many strong Arab scents already accepted here, this one deserves more fame. It’s a masterpiece, beautiful and eternal.
I’ve had her for two years now, and the metallic elephant box is a real luxury. However, I don’t wear her at home; I imagine the cardamom and black pepper notes would give me a terrible headache. She’s so invasive she penetrates right into the brain; I can’t understand how others find her like rice pudding. I haven’t discarded her from my 85 perfumes because the presentation is truly unique.
Super gourmand I’m from Mexico and it smells like arroz con leche nothing more or less that’s how I perceive it. Lactonic and a delicious cinnamon with a vanilla sweetness. It has a super acceptable cost and performance that easily beats any intense one you might find in a department store. It doesn’t seem to be of a certain age (I’m 25) just that it is of a season and clearly it is winter. I received compliments and it’s a personal delight; afterwards you lose the notion of wearing it and of course people notice it. This isn’t for those women who say a body or eau de perfume lasts all day and oh it’s so strong! It’s not for shy people. For a sexy confident woman of the hour and the trail doesn’t need saying this lasts sister. Don’t hesitate if you enjoy this class of spicy woody and vanilla perfumes it’s for you. I loved it.
This perfume is extremely particular and with a lot of personality complex. Without a doubt it’s not for everyone and under no circumstances to buy blindly… the opening is intense super resinous mixed with clove and cumin (that’s what I smell the most). Then it becomes a little sweeter cardamomo is perceived along with a milky note and then the spices continue a resinous touch appears and vanilla shows up. On my skin it lasts a very long time I love it and I take care of it because I can’t find it so easily. 100% for winter may it never be missing.
I bought Kenzo Jungle again after several years. It was a fragrance that marked my youth wonderful. The disappointment of smelling it was like falling down a precipice. To the original extremely spicy they have removed several spices especially the clove is missing… endless sadness. And they have added a lavender that doesn’t seem like lavender but rather a pine floor cleaner really ugly that degrades the light of the Jungle. Also it no longer has the longevity or the sillage of before. It remains intense but not what it was and after 4 or 5 hours it fades to the skin subtly recalling the original fragrance. I think the result has been to achieve a unisex perfume losing all the magic.
What a pity not to have an old bottle without reformulation nearby as I’m a lover of vintage perfumes and I adore this one! Despite having the reformulated version. What a lovely clove opening! Yes it’s not an easy scent altogether; the cumin gives it a touch like dampness like decaying wood that lasts a short while giving way to cardamom caraway and the darkness of licorice. In this phase it smells like chai tea with milk but strong and spicy something sweet and vanilla-like due to the heliotrope. The dry down is sweet resinous and with a green patchouli. It seems to me a very original creation and recommended if you like perfumes of all time like Coco Chanel Shalimar and these vintage spicy ones or if classic Arab perfumes like Raghba are your thing.
What a delicious perfume it has come to dethrone my beloved Chanel No 5 and Carolina Herrera. It’s so rich so warm so delicious I don’t know how to explain it but I think I wouldn’t want to live without it. I like it more and more; it’s had a perfect match with my pH even though I’m very particular about aromas. I can’t say there isn’t another one like it because I don’t know many but from my small collection if I have to keep one or two this will be the first to go with me without letting go.
It’s a perfume with a lot of personality evolving as the hours pass exquisite from start to finish. Strong original and with a lot of presence; I was praised for it greatly. I don’t know if it’s for summer but I always wear it because it’s my signature scent just like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I love it and recommend it for women over 30 who like strong perfumes; it gives me and a friend a headache.
Do not press your nose against the application zone! I tell myself this because the clove scent is absolutely overwhelming… but at 10 cm away it’s a marvel! Just one application is enough to fill my surroundings with aroma! The opening is overwhelming – I said no this is too strong. But the trail it leaves the way it envelops you is something else: a creamy sweet spice. It’s a mature scent; it’s not for sweet-toothed women who want to play with life this is for women with backbone as I read in another comment: they are hypnotic they have lived and made difficult decisions. For those who know that when making a decision something always gives way but they keep their gaze high and their pulse calm.
I love you Jungle! You will always be my great love! What a perfume what quality how different you are from everyone else! You surpass many niche perfumes! Sweet spicy exotic sublime.
I laugh at those ‘Arab hair salon’ perfumes when I smell the original Kenzo Jungle. It’s a spice bomb of incredible quality. I didn’t expect that. Unisex oriental with evolution and nuances that recall the best of niche perfumery. You could call it L’Air Du Desert de Turquie or Royal Cardamom… The longevity is excellent finishing with vanilla. It’s a blend of spices and sweetness without approaching the typical Christmas cinnamon and ginger composition. Nothing like that. The reformulation was around 2010 with a notable change in potency and quality. The cap stopped being metallic.
How powerful! My mum owns this and when I dabbed a little on my hand it smelled absolutely awful – it wouldn’t wash off with water. It has that sweetness that reminds me of Mugler’s Angel. I wonder how people used to wear it before.
