Gold Noir by Majouri is an oriental woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by perfumer Cyrill Rolland. The olfactory pyramid unfolds with top notes of cinnamon, white woods, and heliotrope; a heart of amber, plum, and leather; and a base revealing vanilla, tonka bean, and patchouli.

On first try, I regretted the spend a little, as it seemed a cheap copy of Kenzo’s Jungle Elephant. However, with wear, I noticed it has fewer spices, more vanilla, and an almond/cherry note; plus it’s lighter, ideal for mild temperatures, whereas I keep Kenzo for cold winters. Truth is, some accessible pseudo-niche houses seem like disguised versions of other hits; their bottles are pretty but the compositions often lack soul. Is Gold Noir bad in itself? Absolutely not, it’s lovely and projects well: 12 hours on skin and good trail. In short, I’ve liked it much, but at 59 euros for 75ml, my advice is to opt for the 100ml of Jungle L’Elephant, which hovers around 60 euros and is far more imposing, unless you get saturated. Scent 8/10, Longevity 10/10, Sillage 7.5/10, Value 7/10, Packaging 9/10. Would I buy again? No.
