Y Iced Cologne by Yves Saint Laurent

One word? Dispensable. Two words? Highly dispensable. And yet, I am a huge fan of the Y line. It’s a Y EDP with added mint; nothing creative or groundbreaking. The longevity has nothing to do with the EDP; being fresher and less herbal, it is far more volatile. It has the clean soul of the line and isn’t bad, but for 85 euros in Spain (100ml), it’s not worth it in the slightest. I only have some gifted decants. If you already own the well-known Y EDP or any other from the line, this purchase is redundant. I’d only buy it if you own no Y scents at all or if you really love mint. Even so, if you’re looking for this note, try Odyssey Aqua for 50 euros less.

It’s ideal for intense heat and casual use. However, if you already have another Y, especially the EDP, it may feel redundant. In my opinion, it smells better than the EDP: it’s pleasant, easy, and fulfilling. Do you need it if you already have another Y? Not at all; most people will think you’re wearing the EDP. It lasts 4-5 hours on skin in heat, perhaps 6-7 with oxidation in temperate weather. Excellent if you don’t have any Y, dispensable if you do. It could set a precedent with this surge in frozen mint.

It smells like the Y Eau de Toilette but without the apple and with mint added. In short, more herbal. Longevity? Similar, perhaps a little less…

The difference lies in the opening, which is colder and more mentholated, but otherwise there’s no substantial change. Does it smell good? Yes, it maintains the DNA of the line. It’s Y EDT with a mentholated opening and more apple. I didn’t perceive those strange notes from the description. I liked it despite it not being much of a novelty. It lasts and projects well. That opening is pleasant to my nose. It’s like a fresher, more modern version, a fusion of EDT and EDP with those opening notes. Ideal for summer, but I feel it’s a bit strong for enclosed spaces. My expectations were high with those mysterious notes; in the end, pure marketing.

Stupid people who vote for Kryptomint without trying it, just because it has mint. There should be strict rules for voting. Even people vote as soon as it’s announced, and the public hasn’t tried it.

I bought it yesterday at the Selfridges and it surprised me. It’s very versatile, clean, and super fresh. The performance left me speechless; being so fresh, I thought it would last little, but after two hours, I still leave a trail when I move my arm. If you already have the YSL Y Eau de Parfum, don’t buy this; they’re very similar. But if you don’t have it, it’s a better option than the previous one (it lasted me longer than any other in the YSL line). It may vary from person to person, but I’m very happy with this cologne; it’s exactly what I expected from the mint notes.
