So many perfumes with a coffee note, and this one actually smells like a super creamy hot cappuccino 😋. It’s well done; I can’t imagine how they manage to create something so lovely ☺️. It’s a pity the opening scent doesn’t last long, but honestly, I love this perfume.
The first thing I smell is lavender, and it lingers. It’s not my favourite scent, but after five minutes the beautiful coffee and milk emerge, giving way to a gourmand that makes me crave a cappuccino, although the lavender persists. I wish the coffee or the tonka bean vanilla were more prominent. It’s a lovely fragrance that fulfils its function: it reminds me of when I was a student in Florence, having my sacred cappuccino before class. That place had a faint lavender scent, so I think they hit the nail on the head. Would I buy it? Probably, because it transports me to an experience I’d like to remember more often.
Lavander dominates this fragrance from start to finish. It accompanies the coffee, tonka, and milk at the start; vanilla and cedar in the intermediate dry-down; and vetiver at the end. Initially, due to the sharpness of the lavender, it can sound masculine, but after 2-3 hours it becomes more feminine. It’s an aroma that wakes you up, like taking a break for a sugar-free cappuccino. The resemblance to Ariana Grande’s R.E.M is only noticeable in the intermediate dry-down, around the second hour. I don’t think it’s redundant to own both. Projection and longevity are moderate.
Finally managed to get my hands on those 10ml of Coffee Break, the eau de toilette I’ve been collecting for ages. I absolutely love the blend of lavender, milk, vanilla, and coffee. I tested it against others like Ariana Grande’s R.E.M or Lavander Milk; while it clearly shares a family resemblance with Rochas Man, this Maison Margiela version is distinct. It opens with a sparkling, fresh, and sweet lavender, devoid of any medicinal edge. As it settles on the skin, it smells of frothed milk and a cappuccino, dominating with that milky sweetness. Then the vanilla and woods come through. It transports me to drinking a latte outside, surrounded by the scent of lavender. The trail is moderate and fades after two hours, reminiscent of the dry-down of Good Girl. It lasts about 5 or 6 hours. For me, it evokes my father, who used to splash litres of Rochas Man when I was a child. It reminds me of those cold mornings with the news on and coffee to wake up. It’s like me and my dad: same words, different tones. I’m so happy to have it; it fulfils its purpose: it makes me remember happy things, and that’s what matters most in a perfume.
Beautiful 💛
On my skin the coffee note was extremely weak; I had to put in a lot of effort to detect it by pressing my nose close to my skin and imagining it. What stood out most was the lavender and vanilla. It seemed a rich scent but didn’t evoke the thought of drinking coffee for me as that note was very poor. It did seem a lovely and pleasant scent (I do like lavender) although not what I expected. It seemed different from the fragrances I know and I liked that, but although nothing similar comes to mind now, I am sure there are alternatives. Performance? A very personal sillage and a skin longevity of a maximum of six hours. Conclusion: I still don’t know if I would buy it as for that price I am sure I could find something similar with better performance, but I like the fragrance very much.
I have the discovery set and honestly most are lovely but don’t last at all (except By the Fireplace and Jazz Club). Coffee Break was a disappointment; it wasn’t what I expected. The coffee note that makes this fragrance interesting disappears after the first few minutes. What remains is a strong lavender scent (which dominates on my skin) with a faint vanilla and a slight echo of sweet milky coffee that turns into a skin scent and vanishes. I didn’t expect great longevity as it is an EDT and I have difficult skin, but is it normal to smell like a bloodhound on my wrist with two sprays after less than two hours and find nothing? Absolute disappointment. It is a relaxing, pleasant and cosy scent, ideal for an autumnal sleep, and unisex masculine (not as masculine as Jazz Club). It has no sillage, it is for personal enjoyment only. Lasting power is a joke (in my case). If you are looking for coffee, the best I have tried are Montale Ristretto Café Intense, Theodoros Kalotinis Coffee Addict and Golden Dallah, all with excellent longevity. I would like to try Follow by Kerosene and Café Cabanel. If you are interested in Replica perfumes, order the discovery set to see if they work on your skin. Many people are in love with this line but I cannot recommend it as most do not suit my chemistry.

Of the autumn perfumes in the discovery set (By Fireplace Autumn Vibes Jazz Club and Coffee Break), this is my favourite and the one I would buy. It is very well balanced, combining the homey smell of coffee with wood and vanilla, and the freshness of lavender which gives it a feminine floral touch. I wouldn’t want to smell just like milky coffee; the lavender provides the counterpoint so it isn’t obvious, making it more wearable yet comfortable like a coat. I don’t know if I’ll write about the others, perhaps about By Fireplace which has an overwhelming charisma. Autumn Vibes seems like a decaffeinated By Fireplace and Jazz Club too classic and masculine, although elegant.
I ordered this a few days ago and it arrived today. On my skin, the opening is just patchouli and lavender, but as it dries down, it smells like a lavender latte with vanilla and very creamy milk essence. I didn’t expect much longevity and projection as it’s an EDT, but I was surprised that it lasts a long time on clothes and very little on the skin 🥲. The packaging description lives up to its name, creamy & cozy coffee. I give it an 8/10.
I enjoy coffee scents and own several fragrances with that note. Coffee Break caught my eye due to the name and notes, so I bought a travel size without testing it first. I liked it, but on my skin it dried down to just coffee and lavender. Perhaps I won’t repurchase as I prefer sweeter milky coffee aromas like Coffee Addict.

Personally, I drink coffee frequently, so this fragrance suits my personality; it’s a 10 🔥. I quite like the scent, although the one who enjoys it most is my boyfriend; I wear it knowing it drives him mad. It smells like having a date at a café with a dessert: sweet without being cloying, milky like the foam, a warm and cosy concept.
As I consume coffee frequently, this fragrance suits my personality, so it’s a 10 🔥. I like the scent, but who enjoys it more is my boyfriend; I wear the perfume knowing it drives him crazy. What a delight, by God!!!!! Delicious and creamy coffee ☕️. My husband goes wild when I wear it 🥰 10/10
I like it; it’s warm and enveloping, soft. It works well for work, has modest longevity and no sillage, making it ideal for personal use. Not all perfumes are meant to announce where you are. Now… it smells of milk with vanilla and a touch of lavender and tonka; I don’t detect the coffee at all.
I received this perfume three days ago and I have to say, it’s got me hooked. Yes, it’s not a perfume that makes me fall in love, but its scent is comforting, soft, and pleasant. I use it to relax at home, before bed, and when I wake up; it’s been a while since a perfume made me feel so calm. I was sceptical about the lavender, which as everyone says is predominant, especially at the start, and accompanies the 3-4 hours it lasts on my skin. However, it brings serenity and, with the coffee, creates a sense of peace that few perfumes achieve. The coffee is felt at the start, but it’s not strong; rather, it’s like a coffee-flavoured caramel or frothy milk with little coffee and a vanilla touch. It reminds me of the dry-down of Armani Le I/she/Elle, which I used in my late teens. But Coffee Break stays only close to the skin, with an almost imperceptible trail. Maison Margiela got their concept right: rather than to perfume you, it dilutes into your skin and recreates an atmosphere, a place. I consider it modern, without being strident or overly sweet. Unisex due to the touch of lavender, cedar, and vetiver. I don’t know if I’d buy it again, but I enjoy it immensely.
They told me it was exquisite, I bought it this year and it hasn’t disappointed me. I recommend it 100%, it’s delicious and the coffee makes me want to drink the bottle. If you like having a coffee in the morning or going to Starbucks, this is for you. I’ve received several compliments and I’ve had several trousers pulled down. ATTE: the group.
Received this three days ago and I’m already hooked. It’s not a total love at first sight, but it’s comforting, soft, and pleasant. I use it to relax at home before and after sleep, and finally, a scent that gives me the calm I needed. Although I was sceptical about the lavender that dominates at first and lingers for about 3-4 hours, it brings a serenity that, combined with the coffee, creates a rare atmosphere of peace. The coffee is noticeable at the start but isn’t strong like fresh ground beans; it’s more like a caramelised coffee with milk or frothy milk with a hint of vanilla. It reminds me of the dried-down Armani La Sposa/Elle I wore in my teens. Coffee Break stays close to the skin with an almost non-existent trail, which fits the Margiela concept: not to perfume you, but to create a space on your skin. It’s modern without being strident or excessively sweet. Unisex thanks to the lavender, cedar, and vetiver. Perhaps I won’t buy it again, but I enjoy it immensely.
What I feel most is the lavender, undoubtedly, also the coffee and vanilla, but as a very secondary note. The olfactory pyramid on the website is described very well. If you’re looking for a sweeter coffee as I thought, it’s not here :’) It is true that for some reason it’s a cosy aroma ☕🧦 (I imagine it’s due to the excess of lavender, relaxing), but I wouldn’t choose it as the ultimate ‘cosy’; it’s missing something (Cloud seems much more cosy 🌧️). I never managed to get a tester, so I grabbed a 30ml bottle on sale, with doubts after reading it resembles Ariana Grande’s R.E.M, and I have to say yes, it does resemble it, but something more intense. It’s unisex leaning towards masculine, basically because it’s hardly sweet at all (or at least I don’t perceive it). I don’t think I’ll repurchase; I’m looking for a different coffee that wakes you up rather than relaxes you :’D
What I feel most is the lavender, then the coffee and vanilla very in the background. The olfactory pyramid on the website is well described. If you’re looking for a sweet coffee as I thought, it’s not like that. For some reason, it’s a cosy scent (I imagine because of the excess lavender, which relaxes), but I wouldn’t choose it as the ultimate cosy; it’s missing something (Cloud is much cosier). I never found testers, so I grabbed a 30ml bottle on offer. It resembles REM by AG, but more intense. It’s unisex leaning towards masculine because it’s hardly sweet. I don’t think I’ll repurchase; I’m looking for a coffee that wakes me up, not one that relaxes.
A pleasant fragrance where lavender predominates from the start, with vanilla in the base and a very faint touch of cream or milk. I perceive the coffee note very little, but it’s exquisite. It’s soft and the experience is satisfying and delicious. The trail and longevity on my skin are low.
I don’t know where they get the idea that it smells of coffee; to me, it only smells of lavender. I bought it blindly because of the coffee reviews, but I thought the lavender wouldn’t be so noticeable, and it’s what stands out most on my skin. It seems to me to be a scent for a proper gentleman.
To be brief, I bought it blindly without being an expert and I’ve liked it very much. I haven’t used it much yet, but the coffee is very subtle and in the opening the lavender and a bit of milk (my favourite note) stand out. I had doubts that, being for men, it would be very feminine, but the woody note at the end balances it well well. If you’re a man thinking of buying it, it’s a very good option, although the coffee scent isn’t very present.
Lavender with a touch of coffee, leaning more towards the masculine side. It’s pleasant, warm and distinct from other coffee perfumes. Projection and longevity are moderate (7-8 hours on clothes). It doesn’t resemble either Black Opium or The Only One by D&G.
I don’t understand why they compare it to Rochas Man; my husband has the Rochas and there’s nothing in common; that one is markedly masculine, whereas Coffee Break is unisex leaning towards feminine. It’s a lovely lavender fragrance with coffee notes, but its longevity and trail are laughable. I wish it lasted longer; it’s lighter than a cologne. It won’t work in the heat, and in autumn and winter it dissipates too quickly. Perhaps spring is its moment, although then it seems a bit floral. Hard to know when to wear it.
Totally unisex, as if you removed all the nocturnal glamour from Black Opium (although it doesn’t resemble it, it’s just an analogy). Coffee Break is very different from the coffee perfumes we know; it’s far more discreet. The lavender adds a floral touch that paves the way for the coffee. My colleagues don’t smell coffee on me at first, but by the end of the day, everyone comments that it smells like a cappuccino. I would love to try more from Maison Margiela in the future.
A subtle and balanced gourmand fragrance: coffee, dairy, lavender and vanilla that transport you to a quiet corner. The longevity is acceptable, with a consistent but moderate trail. It’s a rare profile on the market, much better executed than by other brands. It’s addictive, pleasant and enveloping without being cloying. Perfect for cool climates, intimate moments or enjoying alone. I recommend it without hesitation.
It doesn’t smell of coffee, but rather of that hot cappuccino that makes you pause for a moment, holding the cup in your hands with your woolly jumper on. To me, it’s milk and vanilla with a hint of lavender, as if there were a vase nearby. The coffee and lavender are more noticeable in the trail than on the skin. What’s curious is that you don’t smell like yourself, but rather the place; it’s cosy, warm and comforting. Ideal for autumn, rainy days or when you need a hug from a scent.
