  • One of the best gourmands I’ve tried to date and certainly the best from Bond No. 9 (a brand I’m not usually a fan of). Mind you, gourmands aren’t really my wheelhouse, so my friend @Cnidaria could pull my ears for calling it one of the best as I don’t know many in that genre. The coffee note is excellent. There are moments when it can be a bit cloying, and many people remind me of maple syrup (which I absolutely love). It’s like a better-made version of T. Mugler’s A Men, but more complex, sweeter, and without the burnt plastic note that sometimes appears in Mugler and is unpleasant. Much denser and more consistent than Rochas Man, though sometimes the Bond version is too strong, medicinal, and less recommended for frequent wear. If you like very sweet, caramelised gourmands, I think it’s at least an essential try.

  • As people say, it’s the younger brother and heir to Rochas Man – a different and pleasant sweet scent. Its smell reminds me partly of the syrup poured on pancakes and sweet coffee. It has good longevity and sillage, but what I didn’t like was the price: $175 for a 100ml bottle, in the same range as a Creed. Well, I wasn’t very familiar with the brand and tried to track it down, but the price didn’t motivate me.

I’ve been wearing this fragrance for several days, although I already knew of it. Its opening features one of the best coffee notes I’ve ever smelled, paired with a subtle bergamot that fades quickly. Gradually, lavender, patchouli, and cedar emerge. The sensation is slightly caramelised yet also dark. I don’t find it as sweet as other reviews suggest. The vanilla is there but not the protagonist. The dry down is sweet and woody, leaning masculine. Performance is good with decent longevity; it perhaps lacks a bit in projection and is better suited to cooler climates. I like it, though it doesn’t quite enchant me. It has quality and is a gourmand worth considering if you find it at a good price. The resemblance to Rochas Man is there, but the more you wear it, the more you notice the differences.

  • I’m glad I didn’t buy it blind; however, I do need to test Pure Tonka more. On paper, they’re very similar, even in performance, so the price difference of around £68 would have been significant. The scent is lovely; I remember receiving the sample while using a lavender room spray I adore, and it smelled quite similar upon opening. On skin, it’s a different story as the coffee dominates quite a bit – a soft coffee with milk, nothing dark or roasted. The vanilla softens and sweetens it slightly without becoming cloying; it’s very balanced (though always beneath the coffee, which is the absolute star). It lasts well for about 10 hours. I’ll try Pure Tonka more to see; if it’s so similar to Mugler, this Bond is certainly redundant, though it smells very good.

This is my first Bond bottle, and to be honest, I’m not a fan of coffee. Given the price, I stuck with Jordan Legend, which is sweeter and suits me better.

I’ve tried several Bond No. 9 scents, and this one, alongside Lafayette Street, is my absolute favourite. It’s a proper onion bomb – reminiscent of Givenchy Play Intense but sweeter, more niche, and sexy. Simply delicious.
