  What a cracker, very eighties, but of the kind they no longer make. To me, it smelled of shaving foam, men’s grooming, cleanliness. It was a flawless fragrance that caressed without bothering. I miss it.

  Thanks, gelao. The truth is, it caught my attention greatly; it gives the impression it could have been a lamentable loss, like BY of D.G. or Gucci Envy.

  Do you know it? It looks like a lost jewel in time, known by a few but desired by many. Perhaps, like many from its era, it was just one of those strong fragrances that soon faded into oblivion, like Drakkar or Quorum. I’d like to have tried it, even once. I’m surprised it has so many votes on the notes but no reviews.

  Ebene is an eighties jewel, discontinued and highly sought after. It has that demode touch thanks to notes no longer used, such as oakmoss and tarragon, alongside a host of essences. The opening is citrusy and brief, leaving behind a very aromatic scent full of spices. In the dry down, pine is noticeable, less fresh than ‘Pineau des Charentes’ but more complex, with aldehydes giving a particular bitter-sweet medicinal smell. As it dries, it becomes more serious, dark, full of balms, leather, and that intense oakmoss. It reminds me of a leather jacket stained with grease. The composition is good, long-lasting, and has a trail. It’s obsolete, eighties, and full of character, like a motorcyclist from another time. Rating: 7

  Hey, Arp, I have a bottle and it’s splendid if you like vintage. It has that demode eighties flavour. I especially highlight the aldehydes, pine, and oakmoss which give it a special and complex, unmatched character. That’s why it has the reputation it does. I’ll write a review soon so you can get an idea.
