Nero! The darkest, woodier, warmer, aromatic and sweetest of the ‘di colori’ male trio, alongside the Blu and the Verde. Perfect for daily wear in the heat, it complements a relaxed look for someone very active. It suits my husband brilliantly. At home my son has the Verde and the Blu, my husband has the Nero, and I have the Rosso, the Bianco and the Giallo; all fresh, soft, summery and casual.
It starts well, it’s warm, fresh and green, but the trail vanishes in a jiffy. Ideal for daily use.
Between Nothing: I tried this in 2011 and although I finished the bottle, it never won me over. It starts fresh and sweet with tangerine, but the mint blend shocked me. Then comes lemon, mace, wood and patchouli. The result is a Frankenstein without direction or character; it works for no-frills daily wear if you don’t mind that strange cocktail. The fixative fails: it doesn’t last and you’re forced to reapply or over-saturate. If you apply more, it chokes you because the opening is intense and the Benneton alcohol burns and irritates. It lacks clear personality, suits hot daytime climates and informal moments, but not for closing deals. If you’re looking for something cheap, better go for Ocean Pacific Blend, Oriflame Midsummer or Nautica Voyage. My advice: 4 or 7 sprays. Fixative 7, medium trail and medium intensity.
