Cool Water by Davidoff is an aromatic aquatic fragrance for men. Launched in 1988, this composition was created by perfumer Pierre Bourdon. The top notes unfold with sea water, lavender, mint, green notes, rosemary, calone, and coriander; the heart reveals sandalwood, neroli, geranium, and jasmine; while the base notes settle with musk, oakmoss, cedar, tobacco, and ambergris.

Cool Water is ‘cold water’: the first two hours smell very fresh, like the sea with mint and spices. Then, for another two hours, it smells vintage and green. Recommended only for hot days and people aged 20 and above. Packaging: thin cardboard with a simple design (7.0). Bottle: blue/green with a plastic cap that doesn’t support the weight, simple but correct design (8.0). Atomiser: for the price, it sprays better than more expensive ones (9.0). Price: 20-30 dollars for 125ml, very accessible (9.0). Longevity: good for the first two hours, then 4 hours close to the skin, totaling around 5-6 hours (8.0). Projection: one metre away in the first hour (8.0). Sillage: weak, but good in the first hour (7.5). Demographics: men over 30 and older ladies; younger ones won’t suit it (7.0). Final note: 7.9. Conclusion: a fresh and rich scent. A safe blind buy if you’re over 28; if you’re under 25, don’t buy it. People complain about the longevity, but 25 dollars for 125ml is cheap. A good perfume with a vintage touch.

  • LosPerfumesDeJavi

A summer classic! Smells of the sea, summer, and a summer breeze. Leaves a refreshing sensation on the skin. You can detect lavender, mint, geranium, and sea water. The scent is spectacular; I fell in love the moment I smelled it. Longevity and sillage are moderate to high, leaving a sense of calm and relaxation. Excellent scent at an unbeatable price. If I didn’t have so many perfumes, I’d repurchase it without hesitation. If it were a song, it would be ‘La Isla Bonita’ by Madonna.

  • I don’t have much to add: as it dries down and after a few hours, one note dominates so much that it borders on giving me a headache. I hope it’s not just me. It’s good for the price, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • Smells like clean soap; I use it only straight out of the shower in spring and summer.

  • I tried it with some scepticism due to negative comments, but I’ve enjoyed it. It’s a classic post-shower scent for a mature audience. It’s marine with a tobacco note that adds maturity, though as it dries down, a slightly plastic nuance emerges, making it a bit ‘dirty’, yet not unpleasant. Suits men aged 35+ in spring/summer. Performance matches the price: 4-5 hours. Projection is low but conveys a freshly showered sensation. At 20 euros for 125ml, it’s good value and a worthy Father’s Day gift.

  • Daniel cabrera

I tested it on blotter paper and was disappointed: it’s strong, but after 20 sprays, you’ll feel like fainting. I’d recommend a maximum of four sprays.

  • HarryPSG82

Don’t have many hopes for clothes. Its strength is on the skin: at the start it is a bomb and after a few hours it disappears to stay close to the skin. It has already lost its power. I remember everyone young in the 90s and 2000s used that. I liked it, so I bought a 100ml EDT presentation a couple of years ago. From time to time and in the mornings, I apply it to my arms and neck… Excellent aftershave that will make you jump from the alcohol. It is rare for someone to wear it and I consider it an excellent morning fragrance for a quick shopping trip and smelling deliciously clean at home. I love it for the notes it gives; it must be because I was born in the 80s.

  • dpineda85

Fresh and clean scent, nothing more. It’s not wonderful, just serves to smell decent.

  • DavidNeko

Cool Water has been a classic since 1988, holding a firm place in men’s perfumery. Its charm lies in simplicity: a clean opening like ice-cold water, featuring lavender, mint, and green notes. As it develops, floral nuances and a clean oceanic touch emerge. The base is woody and musky without being harsh. There are no dramatic twists; it maintains its fresh essence throughout. Ideal for everyday wear in spring/summer. It delivers without seeking complications. Moderate longevity and projection. 7.5/10: an accessible classic.

  • Doesn’t work for me. Smells exactly like Armand Dupree from Avon or car air fresheners, so I wouldn’t recommend it.

  • A classic I only discovered recently; I always saw it on sale and dismissed it as too ‘vintage’. Upon trying it, I thought, ‘I’ve heard this before’ – it’s a familiar scent that someone in your circle is likely wearing. It’s rich, fresh yet present, and the performance is surprisingly good for the price: lasts around six hours. Ideal for those aged 25+ in spring/summer, perfect for a post-gym refresh. I picked up the 200ml bottle for this summer. It’s better than its flankers; the Parfum didn’t suit me, and while the Intense smells nice, it doesn’t quite convince me.

  • Perecioso

I’ve come from the opposite direction and after years enjoying GIT, I was gifted CW. I understand the similarity; they are very similar if you look past the unnecessary sweetness they’ve added to CW. It is a pity because it would be a wonder if not for that sweetness. Has it always been like this, or is it a thing with current batches where everything is sweet to diabetic levels? For anyone who detests its sweetness like I do, I recommend Egra Men by Rasasi. It is in the same line as CW and GIT, it resembles the Creed one more, and it is also economical.

  • Darmody1917

I like it, although I’m not a huge fan of green notes and that is what predominates most in Cool Water. It is fresh from start to finish. The opening is harsh, green, and slightly bitter. After a few minutes, that bitterness disappears and it becomes soft, green, aromatic, clean, and a bit soapy. It is pleasant to smell. The longevity is nothing to write home about, about three hours, then it stays close to the skin. In summer, you get out of the shower, spray it on, and feel luxurious. All for £27 for 200ml. Being a classic, it is almost a crime not to own it.

  • It is a good men’s perfume, green, fresh, and great for coming out of the shower and going back to bathe. Unfortunately, that is where its use ends for me; it lasts a breath. Although it starts strong, it vanishes after 30 minutes and stays close to the skin, which makes the 200ml I grabbed at a bargain price a waste for me. I’ll have to look for an older batch because the new ones are not worth it; it lasts like a cologne. I sadly do not recommend it.

  • Carcanuelo

To those who disdainfully criticise this perfume, I’d like to see them in a blind test. It is easy to judge by the price. Perfumery is a pareidolia. Cool Water is not worse than Green Irish Tweed, nor is it a clone; the similarity is limited. The price difference isn’t just about ingredients. Cool Water is a flanker, not a clone. Many perfumers use creations as inspiration. It is inferior to Creed only in longevity, but its aromatic quality is superb. It is more musky/soapy and seductive, with a warm touch. Creed is denser and more elegant, but they are distinct perfumes. The quality/price ratio of Cool Water is unbeatable.

  • Padmasambhava

When I found out the perfumer was Pierre, I went to try it. I imagined something different… but no. A total disappointment. It could be used for going to the gym… but for the price, better to buy a kayak from Natura. What a pain!

  • emiguemoo

Super fresh, it smells like a trip to the beach. I’ve received a few compliments when people get very close. It’s fine if you can get the 200ml version for around £25, but it doesn’t last long and its sillage is small. The only downside is the opening; it smells of pure alcohol for the first minute until the citrus and marine notes appear.

  • I still see masterpieces, but Cool Water is eternal. It has been with me for years and holds a special place in my heart. It smells very masculine; it’s from the late 80s and conquered many people in the 90s here in Spain. It is an ode to summer and masculinity. It doesn’t last long, but I forgive it everything.

  • I find it simply unpleasant. Extremely synthetic and green, but in a bad way. The first spray burns the hairs on your nose. I wouldn’t recommend it even to my worst enemy.

  • Bcheldark

Perfume richness. Does it last? Yes, enough, between 6 and 8 hours. Suddenly it’s my pH. Abstain, ‘Arab’ kids.

  • JuanCanada

If there were a bestseller in fragrances, this would have to be in the top 10. I think everything has already been said about it. It is clean, fresh, and at an excellent price. Women love it (if you’re looking for compliments). Informal, winner-man vibe. There might be some confused person who thinks it smells like disinfectant, but for me, it is a gem. I hope they never discontinue it. I’m already on my third bottle (and I own over 100 perfumes).

  • Excellent for everyday wear in summer and spring. It has an excellent price and lasts about 6 hours for me. I think for the price, little more can be asked.

  • Augusto Enci

Acclaimed for its aquatic freshness, in reality, it offers an experience I can only describe as a synthetic slap disguised as cheap nostalgia. From the first spray, marine and lavender notes try to seem clean but sound like bathroom disinfectant with perfume pretensions. The fougère structure is so loaded that it transports me to a decadent 80s barbershop where cheap aftershave reigns. The worst is the longevity: it doesn’t last a short time, but too long. An invasive projection that turns any enclosed space into an involuntary homage to bad taste. The dry-down is an oxidised aquatic accord with a flat, artificial woody base. A true synthetic festival. To gift it? Only if I want to end a friendship. To recommend it? Only to someone who wants to relive the worst of 90s mainstream perfumery. That said: try it first if you dare. I can’t handle it.

  • I laughed reading comparisons with Green Irish Tweed, that Creed classic smelling of a British gentleman in a checkered waistcoat and heritage, but bloody hell! It’s that touch but softened. What happened to me was the opposite: I already had GIT and saw Cool Water as a bit of a Brummel and the rest, and what a lovely surprise I got when I tried it. After reading it was by the same perfumer and the problems due to the similarity, I wore it last week in the afternoon to go to the mountains in the middle of a heatwave. It was like a jet of fresh air. What struck me most was that, after 4-5 hours sweating at night going up to Peñalara, I got bursts along with the sweat from the open pores. It was a perfect choice for that day and place.

  • I call this fragrance ‘Father’s Hug’. When you were a child and an adult relative greeted you or gave you two kisses, you’d hear that clean marine scent. It brings back memories of my childhood. Ideal for hitting on the ‘daddy issues’ crowd of those in their twenties and upwards.

  • MisterLombardo

I like the scent at first… But I think it’s my skin; when it dries, it takes on a note I don’t like. I can’t explain it, it’s as if the marine note rots upon contact with me. When I smell it from the bottle, it smells exquisite.

  • I used to wear it in my adolescence and remember it differently; I suppose my olfactory memory played a trick on me. When I bought it recently, I perceived it differently. The first use wasn’t as I expected, but the second time, applying it generously, it reminded me of freshly washed and hung laundry – that fresh, clean burst that makes you close your eyes. A momentary pleasure. It’s called Cool Water. Its Achilles’ heel is performance, but also its strength, as it gives you many options: going shopping, having a drink, to the cinema or the shopping centre. It also works for an intimate date, where it performs best in close proximity. The performance is weak but pleasant. You feel it well for 4 hours; if you pass close to someone, they’ll notice it. After 6 hours, it’s right on the skin, at 10-15 cm. Cool Water won an award in 2009 and is in the hall of fame. According to Coty, a bottle is sold every 8 minutes worldwide and it’s the brand’s most successful line, among the top 10 best-selling men’s fragrances. In summary, it must be in every collection that takes itself seriously.

  • I find it versatile, suitable for the office or the gym. It lasts between 4 and 6 hours on the skin. The projection is moderate. For the price, you can’t ask for more; it’s cheap and simple, but with a mature scent. If you’re young, you might not like it much; I’d go for a Montblanc or something cheap and Arabic instead. 7/10.

  • I just received this Christmas gift and honestly, the opening is more or less not to my taste, but the dry-down on the skin I love because the mint and floral notes of the fragrance are already perceptible. It’s very versatile if you’re going to wear it during the day, as it’s fresh and light. It lasts about 3 hours and then you have to re-apply, but it’s a good perfume.

  • Andrés Maetxa

It’s been a delicious, cheap classic for over 30 years. At first, I thought it was rancid, like old clothes, but once I wore it, it opened up and it was simply delicious! It smells like a pure, tough, classic man – strong yet charismatic and natural. It’s like that fresh tobacco from the packet with a touch of amber and moss, rich and clean. It lasts about 3 hours if you bathe in it. It’s not for impressing others, but for enjoying, setting the mood, or after a smoke before heading to work. Scent: 9.6, Projection: 6.5, Longevity: 2.9. Final rating: 6/10 (63.3% perfection).

  • Efrain Moises Garcia Deni

A fresh and clean perfume, par excellence; it reminds me of my father; whenever he wore perfumes, the scent gave me the same feeling that this one does now. Now, yes, it’s not for me, it’s not a scent I enjoy, especially in the opening where it even hurts my nose. Once dry, the notes help to digest it a bit better. In fact, it was so much so that I ended up gifting the perfume to my father as soon as I opened it. Good perfume, a pity I didn’t appreciate it.

  • JavierSantana

@yeik I’m surprised. I have the 2024 formula and it lasts 6-8 hours without any problem. Re-applying is an absolute disease, let the perfume die in peace.

  • Nachoman2406

Every man should own one. Refreshing. Ideal after a shower in very hot weather. Unfortunately, my bottle has been sitting for a year and it still doesn’t improve the longevity.

  • A very good fragrance that, like wine, aged with class. That blend of marine notes with lavender and mint is very rich for a warm day, recommended for everyone, although I don’t see it as initially suitable for someone very young.

  • On Skin Parfums

Hello, I bought it for around £17 for 100 ml. This is the last time (I’ve had several bottles). It’s a classic that I always keep in my collection. A masculine scent (without going over the top like others from the 80s), with that marine touch I love. I also wear it in winter during the day if I’m going errands, because honestly, I like it. It’s a pity it used to last 7 hours on the skin (if that’s even possible), today only 3 hours and a bit. Obviously longer on clothes. Although, given the price, it stays in my collection. For me, it’s more masculine than feminine. Although they should smell it in that first or second hour to notice, at least in my case it usually pleases if they detect it. I recommend it if you like classic masculine and aquatic scents. I’ll buy it again when I finish it. Best regards!

  • Daniel Henderson 77

A very rich, classic perfume from the old school. It smells very aquatic, with soft lavender and pleasant green notes. It’s for summer; although it doesn’t smell entirely modern, it can still be worn if you like good classics like this. I used it a long time ago, but this image always comes to mind: a boat on the sea, an unbuttoned white shirt and swim trunks… I don’t know why, but that’s what I imagine. Very pleasant to the nose. There are Argentine low-cost perfumes that imitate this scent quite well, but Cool Water is unique.

  • I bought it without testing it, and as soon as I caught a whiff of the opening, it transported me back to university because I had a very similar version from Oriflame. From the very first moment, it smells fresh, icy, and special. In the opening, I notice salinity and spicy green notes, but as it dries down, it becomes sweeter and softer on the skin. It brings back memories, so it has more emotional meaning; unknowingly, I used to wear a distinctive aroma like Cool Water, which seems essential in every collector’s wardrobe.

  • cyanaardvark

I remember it being much weaker, but upon re-testing it, after nearly 8 hours it still projects within 10 cm of the skin. At first, it projected massively; I even tested The Most Wanted EDP Intense on the other arm and they were neck-and-neck to see which would win. I don’t know if they changed the formula or if my skin was just in a good mood, but I am very surprised. Scent 10/10.

A summer classic, perfect for the gym or straight after a shower; it smells of fresh water and I keep choosing it because the price never disappoints.

  • It’s my mother’s cologne from when I was seven, ideal for Mediterranean heat and wakes up with humidity. Although my mother’s version was a supermarket dupe, it’s faithful to the original: a sweet but fresh aquatic base with jasmine at the end. On me, it smells unisex, floral, and suitable for the day, the gym, or a festival. Everyone, young or old, will like it, and it’s highly recommended for its price and availability.

  • Must be tested on skin: on paper it smells fresh and fruity, but on my skin it becomes synthetic and very different, as if it were another perfume entirely.

  • La Clochard

A classic floral, aquatic, and fruity scent, better in the heat and very popular. I don’t love it as much; I prefer smelling it on others. The blend of notes tires me out; it smells fresh but heavy. It lasts longer than expected, and at 23 euros for 100 ml, it’s a bargain if it’s your style.

  • When I smelled it, I thought ‘floral with fruit’. The melon gives it a fresh, aquatic sweetness, something acidic. My friends thought I was going to buy it, so it’s not very feminine. It’s fresh and fruity, not cloying. Only the lime stings my nose a little, but generally it’s good for the gym or short walks to feel clean for a while.

  • freshsweetfruitydelicious

I love the scent and will always use it, but I wouldn’t buy it again because my body splashes last longer. It’s good for sport, but there I’d rather use a body splash.

  • A summer classic. I discovered it through a friend who wore the men’s version and gifted me this one to enjoy together; both are super refreshing for the heat. Nothing sweet, just that freshness that counters the heat, as its name says: an essential cold drink every summer.

  • MariaConstanza

I adore it. It subtly perfumes you but definitely makes an impression. It’s one of those vital scents that lift the mood and lasts.

  • This is truly quality perfume at a good price. I bought it blind, the large 200ml bottle at an accessible price, due to the positive reviews. It’s floral, aquatic, with a citrus touch; the scent isn’t my favourite, but it leaves a trail and the best part is that it lasts a long time. The next day it was still detectable; I can’t believe it’s an EDT. I like it for daily use, hot days, and when you fancy something refreshing.

  • Nahuellperfumestexas24

Wishing everyone a great day. Davidoff’s COOL WATERS has been my signature scent for nearly 20 years and my husband’s favourite. He prefers me to wear it on all our dates, knowing I have many more exquisite and high-end perfumes. He says there isn’t another perfume that surpasses it, what nonsense. To please him, I always wear it when we go out, using the others on the remaining days. For me, it’s fresh, aquatic, clean, sexy, elegant, and makes me feel attractive and very chic. I’ll keep using it for the rest of my life. The coolest thing is its affordable price and that it remains current despite the years. They still sell it; a round of applause to its creator, Pierre Bourdon. Perfumes and more… Nahuell.

  • The marine note feels very spicy to me, getting lost behind that initial sting. It’s like a more potent, spicier Halloween version, perfect for those who love aquatic scents but with a touch of eucalyptus not listed on the label. When it’s hot—which is what it was made for—I don’t fancy feeling spicy; everyone else finds it divine though.

  • Cecilia Garino

At first it’s refreshing, but once it dries down on the skin, it smells like bad lime tea.

  • Fernanda12

It’s a fairly meh fragrance – not worth obsessing over, but it works if you just want people to know you’ve worn perfume. I’ve had it for 10 years and detect no marine notes at all; it smells more citrusy, herbal and spiced with fresh cloves. Lime stands out at the start, then quince and melon balance it out. Performance is mediocre and basic, but it gets you through if you don’t mind being noticed. Trail 4/10 Scent 5/10 Projection 3/10 Longevity 5/10

  • I love it – it’s good, beautiful and cheap. I can’t describe the notes, but when I smell it, I imagine a blue glacier in Antarctica, pure crisp winter breeze. It’s delicious, super fresh and cool, ideal for any season. It’s a real workhorse; many people have complimented it, one of the few I’ve actually liked. It’s super versatile for any age. And it lasts FOREVER on my skin all day and on clothes until I wash them.

  • polishcreative

My experience hasn’t been good. The aroma feels heavy and has an overly alcoholic base that I dislike. Despite its reputation for being refreshing, it fails to be pleasant or balanced on my skin. I detect no fruit or talc; it smells more like detergent or a breeze air freshener.

  • I absolutely love its scent; it’s very fresh and unlike anything else. The downside is I think they’ve changed the formula as it doesn’t last long on my skin now. It’s best for daytime wear, and if your pH clicks with it, believe me, people will be asking where you got it.

  • nataliedrm

One of my high school favourites and I still adore it today. How could you forget that freshness with its citrus and vanilla twist? Cool Water was perfect for sporty days; I felt fresh, it lasted all day and stood out everywhere. It smells clean and matched the quality of the men’s version. But it’s not all gold: Coty now produces it, it’s been reformulated, and the longevity isn’t what it used to be. What a shame because it would easily rival Light Blue if not for that. Despite everything, I love it and wouldn’t change it; if the bottle runs out, I’ll buy it again as it’s part of my life. If you’ve never tried it and like Light Blue, you won’t regret it.

  • A resounding NO; I hated it. In the shop, the assistant insisted I try it on my skin, so I rushed to the bathroom to wash it off; the smell wouldn’t come out even with soap. I can’t find any declared notes; on my skin it smells like stale floor cleaner, neither sweet nor fruity nor aquatic, just an unpleasant acidic odour that doesn’t even seem like perfume. Simply horrible, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The people accompanying me could still smell it on my arm after washing it three times, and they didn’t like it either.

  • Excellent fragrance, very fresh all day and gives a sense of cleanliness. I’d buy it again without a second thought.

  • Smells very clean and refreshing. I can’t identify any declared notes, at most some very distant white flowers. Completely unisex.

  • whisper_of_love

Little to add to what’s already been said: it smells like being right by the sea mixed with body cream. It’s a scent I like and I’d love to try it out in the middle of summer to see how it behaves.

  • A top fragrance, super fresh and versatile. Very aquatic and it clings to the skin, noticeable hours later with great longevity. Not my absolute favourite, but I’ve bought it several times; I keep coming back to it. I agree with another review: the bottle is a bit of a nightmare, the shape slips out of your hand; I don’t know why they’ve never changed it.

  • I had it when I was very young and hated it; there’s something very jarring in the fragrance, an acidic aroma that I found unpleasant.

  • Gabella10

An exquisite fragrance. I love it; it transports me to Mediterranean countries… sea, sun. It feels very energising and refreshing. Its longevity and trail are excellent. I highly recommend it.

  • Yasmin2015

Refreshing, sweet and smells clean. Personally, I like it very much and it doesn’t seem to have been on the market for more than 20 years. Excellent for the heat. Moderate trail and excellent longevity for an EDT; I’ve felt it on my skin for over 7 hours. Plus, it’s very economical.

  • My boyfriend gave it to me in 1999 and I loved it; I then bought it for myself three more times, including its shower gel and body lotion. I adore its fresh and energising scent.

  • This is the perfume of my adolescence and it never leaves my collection. To me, its scent represents the strong summer of the Dominican Republic; that pineapple together with lemon and melon offers that much-coveted refreshing touch in a fragrance for hot days. It lasts about 8 hours, which is why I love it for my workday. It makes me feel fresh and comfortable.

  • charlotinable

Certainly, it always seemed to me more like a household cleaning product than something for personal use; it always felt very jarring and heavy. But just now, at 46, it has become a perfume I didn’t value much in its prime and has started to grow on me. It’s wonderful for very hot summer days and although it doesn’t contain mint, cucumber or eucalyptus, I sense those notes on my skin alongside the rose and melon. I’ve already picked up two bottles and I’m really starting to like it; perhaps not enough to adore it, but for the price it’s worth it and the quality it still retains, as it seems nothing has been reformulated, making it wearable and pleasant. It truly gives me a sense of freshness and cleanliness that I feel for a long time, and that’s enough for me.

  • To me, a fresh breeze when I want to take a break from the sweet and woody scents I usually wear. The fact that it’s not very expensive means I’ve even used it for trips to the beach, where I believe the soul of this perfume belongs. Far from smelling like a cleaning product as many said, I feel it’s the ideal perfume for those 38-degree days. As soon as I put it on, I feel fresh without losing my well-perfumed, sweet and feminine edge. It reminds me immediately of the sea and the wind, even if I’m on the Tube on a Tuesday, haha. I also like that it’s not a very talked-about perfume nowadays (2023) nor among people my age (30), so it’s rare to smell someone else wearing it (which I don’t like at all). Then I have a particular love for it because the classic Davidoff for men was my grandfather’s perfume and my dad also uses it a lot; although the feminine fragrance is different, they share a note with that ‘Davidoff’ seal that brings me a bit of nostalgia and a sense of home. It’s the only non-woody or vanilla perfume that ever conquered me and my only option B outside my similar classics.

  • Fresh, citrusy and aquatic to the maximum, but it fades on the skin within an hour; I use it for sleep because it smells like a fresh shower and is very clean. A classic that never goes out of style.

  • One of my all-time favourite fragrances. I’ve bought it several times without ever getting bored. It’s timeless, fresh, clean, elegant, and has a trail that you can’t confuse with any other. Because of its originality, every perfume lover should own it.

  • My favourite aquatic. I remember it from my studies, school and hobbies. It was very popular, defining a generation that jumped between fresh, citrusy and clean colognes, just when CK One and DKNY were revolutionising the market. Cool Water emerged as the perfect marine cologne for everyday life. Lidl used to sell a copy called ‘Eau de Chalou’ which I adored. It’s synthetic marine freshness and utopia, lovely and very pleasant. It was the fashionable scent that still exists for noses who love aquatic colognes, as it’s the purest of that style I know. *In illo témpore* there were also sweet perfumes of gumdrops, chocolate and vanilla for teenagers, but there was a wider and more varied range (with good qualities like Eau Jeune or Coty…) which nowadays, where the aromatic context is different, is not the case.

  • A timeless classic, excellent for those seeking fresh, distinct aromas. I don’t know of other flankers, but my dad uses the men’s version and I say they do remind each other. Any differences? The women’s version is a little more floral and slightly fruity, but in both the calone stands out over the other notes, making them similar. A gentleman can wear it without any issues. It smells clean; some say it smells like a cleaning product and they might be right, but I love wearing it. Very versatile, for extreme heat or not, day and night. On my skin, the longevity is excellent, over 10 hours without problems. I recommend it widely, but not for buying blindly, even though its price is very affordable.

It’s exquisite and, nowadays, being as swamped as we are with vanillas and gourmands everywhere, it’s a breath of fresh air. The only downside: the bottle. I struggle to apply it because it can’t be held properly.

  • Cool Water Woman is a classic aquatic that puts fruit at the centre, with Calone as the star and lily of the valley reinforcing that marine base. Very youthful, with good projection and a key reference for many subsequent perfumes.

  • It’s a standard aquatic EDT, typical of the 90s. It brings back memories of my cousin in the late 90s. The projection is moderate but it lasts a very long time on my skin. It opens with a ripe, astringent fruit (pineapple with quince, perhaps?), which quickly moves to flowers and water. That lasts about half an hour, then only the Calone remains. It’s good for hot days and seems unisex, but it lacks personality. It’s pleasant and a good buy for the price. Pleasant: 5/10 Interesting: 3/10 Versatile: 6/10 Original: 3/10

  • If it lasted longer, it would be wonderful. It makes me want to hang onto my wife’s neck when she wears it. It’s rich, elegant, fresh and refreshing. Ufff, when I found out she used it years ago in her youth, I thought: how does that smell? I searched for it, bought it and gifted it to her… and it didn’t fail. It’s one of her cheapest favourites.

I love it! I’ve been using it for years and it’s on my daily list. I understand those who smell cleaning products, but for me, the marine, aquatic, fresh and clean notes stand out more. It makes me think of sailing. Although it has fruits and flowers, nothing predominates; it’s very harmonious. I always have a bottle at work, home and in my bag, because it suits any occasion. The trail is brilliant, it lasts for hours and the price is excellent. A classic that I hope never dies.

  • I have a funny anecdote about this perfume. My mum gifted it to me in high school. I used it a couple of times because I had nothing else to use. I never liked it: melon, lily and pineapple that lasted a mere breath. One day I brought it near the bin to get rid of it and my mum rescued it. She still has it in her wardrobe and uses it from time to time. One day I asked her why she liked Cool Water so much. She told me she didn’t like it. I asked her why she’d gifted it to me then. She said she didn’t remember gifting it to me. Stunned, I complained: ‘So why do you use it?’. She replied: ‘Well, who throws away a perfume in good condition, even if it smells bad?’. Anyway, it’s still there, despite my efforts.
