Incredible. It’s a dark wood that smells of incense, even though it’s not listed in the notes; the flowers are drowned out by patchouli and spices. If you’ve tried Encre Noire, Black Touch is its younger sibling: less dark, more versatile, with good projection. It lasts a good while, up to three days on clothes. I picked it up for $18. Scent 8/10, projection 9/10, longevity 7/10, and price 10/10.

Fantastic, a pleasant surprise. Reminds me of Varvatos’ Dark Rebel Rider but with its own personality. It’s quite long-lasting and nothing like you’ll smell on everyone else. I recommend it without hesitation.

  • It’s a blend of Terre d’Hermès, the scent of a freshly extinguished match, and Cointreau. For the price, it’s a good buy, though it’s not a fragrance for everyone: it can be invasive, penetrating, and sharp. It’s sombre and gloomy, the kind of scent someone like Marilyn Manson might wear.

  • Caught me off guard; I was expecting a classic vetiver, but this turned out to be a spiced nocturnal fragrance with luxurious smoked wood. It’s like a cousin of Encre Noire, yet less dark and without that straight-laced vibe, making it far more versatile and fresh. It carries the inspiration but lacks the wilted flower sensation, retaining only a serious touch. Then it unfolds into a phase reminiscent of Terre d’Hermès, without the orange but with that dry, earthy patchouli vibe. It settles with a scattered vetiver over musk and spicy patchouli. A magnificent perfume at a ridiculous price, though the performance is just about right for the cost; lasts around five hours on skin. I see it as ideal for cool or temperate climates, day or night, and its freshness in summer is delightful. If you like Encre Noire and Terre, you’ll love this.

  • Franck Olivier can join Jacques Bogart and Ted Lapidus for using good components and elaborate compositions, with excellent trail, performance, and an unparalleled price. The opening is intense and mysterious, like a black angel among neoclassical tombstones. In the opening I notice the gloomy and mossy vetiver, the serious cedar, and the barely perceptible incense. As it develops, nostalgic citrus notes appear, like hesperidic tears spilled: bergamot and geranium losing their joy, cardamom with acidity and a dense skin smell, and orange/grapefruit with restlessness within the wood. In the dry down the orange predominates, the incensed tones, and an undeclared violet that reminds of Lalique’s Encre Noir. It’s an aromatic ceremony of retreat and spiritual transport. Trail and longevity are moderate, but the quality-price ratio is excellent.

  • Exquisite fragrance from Franck Olivier. I find it very similar to Lalique Encre Noir Sport; I have both and truly they are alike.

  • Exquisite! Yes, it smells like Encre Noire thanks to that characteristic mossy vetiver, but Black Touch adds a sublime citrus-earthy base. Unlike EN, this is more versatile: it suits a rock concert, daytime wear, or the office. Ideal with a leather jacket. A fragrance hard to find in Spain and with which you won’t go unnoticed. Another great find from Franck Olivier, in the line of Lalique or Mauboussin, where quality prevails at a very attractive price.

  • Simply exquisite. It resembles Encre Noire for that particular mossy vetiver, but Black Touch adds a sublime citrus-earthy base. Unlike EN, it’s more versatile: for rock concerts, day, or office. Ideal with a leather jacket. A fragrance difficult to find in Spain and with which you won’t go unnoticed. Another great discovery from Franck Olivier, in the line of Lalique or Mauboussin, quality at an attractive price.

Franck Olivier has colognes of very good quality and price. This is no exception, simply I haven’t liked it. Buy blind, I had already smelled a sample of Terre de Hermes and didn’t like it either. It smells the same: wild pine. But if you like TdH, it’s a very good option, more economical and with good performance. I recommend it, although it’s not for me.

Franck Olivier has many high-quality, good-value colognes, and this is no exception, but I didn’t like it. It was a blind buy, although I had already tested a sample of Terre d’Hermès and it hadn’t convinced me. To me, it smells the same: like wild pine. But if you like TdH, it’s a very economical option with good performance. I advise it, though it’s not for me.

What a fantastic fragrance, my goodness! It smells of wet earth, oranges, and wet wood. It reminds me of a thyme essence my mother had for massages, but less mentholated. Opening is wet cedar with vetiver and an orange citrus. The base notes with cardamom give subtlety and a toasted touch. The citrus fades, emphasising the toasted and spiced wood. Floral base notes, geranium predominates which combines with the spiced elements. Dry down: that citrus turns into creamy sweet vanilla with musk. The wood darkens. On my skin the dry down doesn’t emphasise, but on paper it’s gold. Sweet, creamy, woody. Elegant and formal, nothing casual. Projects maturity and seriousness. The orange and vanilla give an extroverted touch, but not for under 23-24 years. Maturity predominates. Ideal for meetings, graduations, night outs, weddings, or outdoor romantic dates. Lasts 8-10 hours. Moderate trail (1.50m) with projection of 3-4 hours dropping after the third hour, then skin scent. Two sprays in the same place and you get its beast mode. For temperate or cold climates. Not in summer except cool nights, nor in very cold winter outdoors, although with double spray it holds. Scent 9/10, trail and projection 8/10, longevity 8.5/10, versatility 6/10, price 10/10. For me, an almost niche scent for less than $20.

What a brilliant fragrance, my goodness! Smells of wet earth, oranges, and wet wood, just like that. Reminds me of a thyme essential oil my mother used for massages and baths, but less ammonia-like. At first, you note wet cedar from the vetiver with a citrusy orange touch (the notes say lemon) and cardamom giving it a toasty subtlety. As it develops, the citrus drops and the wet, spiced wood comes to the fore. There are floral notes in the base, but the geranium predominates and blends brilliantly with the spices. The dry-down is that persistent orange citrus, turning into a creamy, slightly sweet vanilla that pairs well with the musk; here the wood darkens and doesn’t stand out as much. Pity that on my skin the sweet dry-down doesn’t accentuate, but on paper Oli is gold: sweet, creamy, and woody. It’s elegant and formal, nothing casual or sporty. It projects maturity, seriousness, and temperance. Although the orange at the start and vanilla at the end give it an extroverted, youthful touch, I wouldn’t see it on anyone under 23 or 24; maturity predominates. Ideal for formal situations, meetings, graduations, night outings, and elegant parties like weddings, though perhaps not so much for romantic dates due to its maturity; better for outdoors; for close encounters, there are other options. It lasts between 8 and 10 hours. Moderate trail of 1.5m projecting for 3 to 4 hours on my skin, dropping to skin-level after the third hour until the eighth, perhaps a bit longer. If you apply two sprays to the same spot, it unleashes its beast mode, in my opinion. For temperate or cool climates; I wouldn’t use it in summer unless it’s a cool night outdoors, nor perhaps on a very cold winter night outside, although with double spray I think it holds up. Scent: 9/10. Trail and projection: 8/10. Longevity: 8.5/10. Versatility: 6/10. Price: 10/10. For me, it’s an almost niche aroma for under $20, surely.

  • It’s brutal, at an incredible price. At first it didn’t convince me, but with the days, uff, it’s a proper fragrance. Many compliments and an exquisite smell.

  • If Black Touch is an Encre Noire eau fraîche, then it is. It recreates the vetiver but lighter, even lighter than the Sport, which has no idea what sport is 😂. The citrus gives it that brightness. Very delicious, economical, and with moderate performance. 8/10.

  • Black Touch is like an Encre Noire eau fraîche. It could belong to that line, recreating the vetiver but lighter. Even lighter than the Sport, which has nothing sporty about it 😂. The citrus gives a sparkle. Very delicious, economical, and moderate performance. 8/10.

  • Black Touch doesn’t deceive: it is darkness and nocturnal elegance, in the line of Ecre Noir but distinct. A mystical and deep fragrance. If you like dark scents, it’s a must. Scent 8.0, projection 7.0, longevity 8 hours.

  • canavarro

Zero point. It doesn’t last more than two hours on the skin and I’ve emptied half a bottle. Not recommended.

  • The scent is for my nose. 75% similar to Oligarca by Roja Parfums, I compare them by testing to notice the similarity. Both don’t last more than five hours, only that bitter and dry wood scent remains on the skin. Oligarca shares notes with this Black Touch in the opening and dry down; just when I apply both, they are perceived as almost 90% similar. After two hours Oligarca continues to evolve while this one is fixed after an hour, perhaps being more earthy with the vetiver and quality, the other maintaining strength in the citrus. This Black Touch is very masculine and for casual use, it could pass as anyone’s favourite. It seems original and good value; the bad is two notes that make it smell like a poorly made copy of Encre Noir. I would recommend it but try first. Originality: 9/10 Quality: 6/10 Price: 9/10 Design: 9/10 Longevity: 6/10 Sillage: 9/10 TOTAL: 8.5/10

  • The first thing that comes to mind when describing it is dark and penetrating. Certainly it is inspired by Terre d’Hermès, but it takes that classic on a different tangent that you may or may not like. You get the DNA of TDH but with some notes attenuated and others amplified. The sweet citrus opening of TDH is reduced a few degrees; it’s there, but the vetiver is the star and is much darker. It’s one of the few vetiver fragrances that becomes too dark. Finally, the creamy part of TDH is replaced with a dustier sensation at the dry down. Calling it a clone would be unjust because it’s a jewel in its own right. The performance is good: 3 hours of projection and I can still smell it on the skin 8 hours later. Preferable for cold climates, I give it a 7/10.

  • Not so much the opening, but when it dries it’s similar to Invictus Victory which I tried yesterday… both delicious. It’s a scent for night use without a doubt.

  • In reality, it smells like Terre d’Hermès, none in particular, but it has that DNA of the vetiver and citrus combo. It’s the illegitimate son of that line. The intensity is like an Eau de Toilette of a Terre d’Hermès or similar to Encre Noir, but closer to TDH. Encre Noir has cashmere that makes it particular… Hey, but it’s not bad. I got it for $30. For that price, for someone who can’t buy a TDH but wants the olfactory experience, it’s fine. It lasts 4 hours projecting for the first two. I don’t think I’ll use it much because to smell like this I put on the TDH which has more quality.

  • Agustinscent

A very masculine scent that I love. Although it’s not a bomb, it works very well and is good value. I see it as ideal for fresh or intermediate seasons and for evening wear. Highly recommended.

  • Pablo Slender

Incredible fragrance, one of my favourites. The opening is rich, but when it evolves to reveal the vetiver, cedar, and vanilla, ufff…

  • I bought it blindly because they said it was a ‘lighter’ version of Encre Noir, and it didn’t disappoint. Upon smelling it, I notice the similarity in the vetiver, but with an incredible citrus and floral twist thanks to the grapefruit and bergamot that give it versatility, plus a smoky touch at the base. Very masculine, ideal for temperate climates, with acceptable duration for the price ($20 or less), ranging from 5-6 hours with moderate projection.

  • molletmod.73

For me, the queen of Franck Olivier. It’s 50% Terre d’Hermès and 50% Encre Noir: the best cypress, spices, and earthy vetiver with soft florals and citrus that smells like bitter orange. Super masculine, nocturnal, dark but without anything weird or boring. Mature, stylish, elegant, and a winner above fleeting trends at a brilliant price. It lasts 7 hours without issue and I apply it five times.

  • molletmod.73

In my opinion, the best of Franck Olivier. This Black Touch is a 50-50 between Terre d’Hermès and Encre Noire: the best cypress, spices with earthy vetiver, soft flowers, and bitter orange-type citrus. Super masculine, nocturnal, dark without nonsense or weird things, mature, stylish, and elegant. A winning aroma above trends at a great price. It lasts 7 hours without issues with five sprays.

  • Ah! And this does not resemble the masterpiece by Lalique (Encre Noir) by even 10 per cent. Greetings from Chile.

  • It is true that it has something of Terre d’Hermes, but only a little. The difference is noticeable. If you want something rich, fresh, similar to Hermès Eau Fraiche, summery, and long-lasting, I recommend Ungaro Fresh by Him; a hidden gem at a ridiculous price.

  • Kris Corvett

It is rich and cheap, but I only recommend it if you already have several perfumes and are looking for something different. It is not striking for common noses; it is earthy and dark, nothing for daily wear or heat. I like to use it in contact with nature, because that evokes something in me.

  • Mr. Baskerville

Frustrated. I agree with the previous reviews: it is elegant, mature (in attitude, not age), sensual (without being confusing), and has personality. It recalls Encre Noir but with its own identity, centred on a woody, earthy vetiver, with a soft touch of vanilla among present but not prominent flowers. What frustrates me is the opening: it lasts seconds, dies, and does not rebirth until the base notes. I am sure that opening is what smells like Terre d’Hermès and escapes my perception because I am insensitive to Iso E Super. I imagine there are more nuances, but if I am delighted being insensitive to that note, I envy reviewers sanely. I would recommend trying it, evaluating the quality-price ratio, and deciding. The projection and longevity are excellent for the price. I bought it, I enjoy it, and I will probably buy more. I understand the reservations due to the lack of a playful tone, but not everything is for everyone.

  • I agree it sits in the same olfactive universe as Encre Noire and Terre d’Hermes, but I am furious that it lasts or projects nothing. It is a pity because it is very enjoyable: woody, dark, and citrusy. At least it was economical (around $24). My bottle is from 03/22.

  • zmjuanpablo

I arrived expecting a blend between Terre d’Hermes and Encre Noire, and it was exactly that. The dark side of EN predominates, while the fruity-bitter aspect of TH accompanies rather than leads. I like it, although its use is specific for Dracula nights, muahahaha. The fruity side makes it more wearable than EN, but I would use it about 10 times a year (here, the cold seasons are short). It is decent, and at a laughable price, you can reapply if the performance is fair.

  • A beautiful, dark, woody vetiver. I wear it with black clothing, especially when it is raining. I love it. Good performance. It reminds me of my Encre Noir.

  • New fragrance for 2025. It exudes masculinity at a laughable price (under $20); without the internet hype, this would sell for over $100. If you own more than three or four perfumes, it is a blind buy, but not as a first acquisition. Ideal for those over 25 years old. A hidden gem.

  • Black Touch by Franck Olivier often appears on lists of dark, pretty, and affordable fragrances. I bought a decant and was disappointed: it is sweet, floral, and creamy, with notes of grapefruit and spices, smelling of musk and vanilla despite the brand not listing them. It is not bad; it is sober and elegant, yet it lacks the impact and romance of Encre Noire, which it is compared to without reason, as their olfactive families are distinct. Perhaps the black bottle and the name create a placebo effect. It is a pity that reviews only discuss similarities with Encre Noire or Terre d’Hermès, when this perfume offers little on its own. Avoid buying blindly if you are seeking the Encre Noire style; Black Touch resembles White in Black by Lalique more.
