It suits me well. It begins soft with citrus and orange notes, then moves into a woody and gourmand profile with touches of cinnamon and vanilla over a patchouli base featuring hints of incense, amber, and a musky note. It’s a lovely scent, albeit with a hint of artificiality, performs very well in the cold. A gift from Josesan. Ideal for autumn, winter, and evening wear. It lasts all night and has a moderate trail.

“LEONARD: 150 grammes de bonheur”, the brand’s slogan for the 1968 launch of its Fully-Fashion silk floral dresses. The brand was created in 1958 by DANIEL TRIBOUILLARD, based in haute couture. It presented its first women’s perfume, FASHION, in 1970, an Oriental Floral. Other successful women’s fragrances were TAMANGO in 1977 (Floral Chypre) and BALAHÉ in 1983 (Oriental Floral). I know their LEONARD POUR HOMME from 1980, a beautiful masculine Leather Chypre with rotund presence and exquisite quality. The olfactory family listed as CUIR D’AMBRE (Woody Spiced) is absolutely not real; I would place it in Artificial Pepper with an insecticide tone. The opening is promising, with a citrus floral orienting tone that promises happiness. The blend of bergamot, rose, pepper and sandalwood (among what I detect) achieves an attractive and suggestive accord. But unfortunately, gradually a monolineal and pungent accord sets in, which is neither Amber Leather, nor amber, nor leather, nor the person who lit it up. It’s a spicy note, a blend of musky pepper, vanilla and rose, too synthetic and artificial. Leonard, another brand that succumbs to underhand tactics; manufacturing perfumes of poor quality with cheap materials and dislocated prices. On their website, 89 euros for 100 ml. A nonsense.
It has its lights and its shadows. This is an EDP that smells distinctly synthetic, blending a light citrus freshness (more than just bergamot) with the depth of wood and patchouli. At first, the sensation is clear and transparent, like oranges and bergamot in the sun, before giving way to a spiced and floral heart. It’s a woody-aromatic fragrance with a sweet touch, masculine and super easy to wear. Over time, it reminds me of candied orange dessert, then gains a sweet woody tone with a hint of incense at the end. I’ll see how it performs on fresher days and give it more intensive use in a few months.
