  • Darkbeat offers a time-travel journey to savour this Leonard Pour Homme. A refined proposal of good quality that few houses offer today with this quality-price ratio. Deeply 1980s ideal in cool-cold climates; at first I notice some alcohol fresh slightly citrusy but predominantly herbaceous and finely spiced typical of that era. Afterwards it becomes spicier darker and smoky. The longevity is medium-high with a perceptible trail sharp and enveloping for the first hour. It falls into the category of dark serious masculine scents that transport you far back in time to when in autumn I used to walk with my walkman in the woods near my grandparents’ house with October’s chill running over leaves in rubber boots. The sensation of pure air the smell of wood mushrooms wet grass moss and chestnuts. It is incredible how scents can revive something that seemed forgotten in the mists of time.

  • An excellent men’s fragrance; I was amazed not to know the brand better. It is hard to find; I have a vintage from the late 1980s. It follows the same line as Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme but floral instead of rose and leather; Leonard opts for a more animalistic leather with lots of clove. The moss is noticeable alongside lavender cinnamon and basil which provide support. The patchouli is sweet soft and talc-like. The animal note catches my attention; it is so well-crafted that it enriches the range; the castoreum is similar to that in Paloma Picasso (1984). The longevity is very good and the quality perfect; I feel it as animalistic smoky and sweet with that period moss touch. I like it more than the Van Cleef version. For lovers of 1980s floral leathers Leonard Pour Homme is worth it.

  • Hard wild and firm leaving no room for complacency and heading straight for the Jungian world. I resist its imagery and notes yet it is beautiful and justifies itself 1000 per cent: the perfume is art.
