  Thanks to a decant gifted to me, I finally get to try this discontinued gem, nearly impossible to find, one of the greats of the eighties. It smells incredible, very classic: animalic, oily (almost buttery), with a warm, strong leather blended with patchouli, lavender, and vetiver, plus a smoky vanilla that ties it all together perfectly; I also detect a hint of cinnamon, though it’s not listed. It reminds me of Halston Z-14, but more intense, dense, and powdery. I believe it may have inspired Jean-Pascal Pour Homme, that success story from the French-Colombian brand here. Patou Pour Homme possesses that high-end quality, with a natural scent and well-chosen notes; it’s superbly crafted and showcases Jean Patou’s great level. The dry-down is pure delight, with medium-high projection and magnificent longevity. It’s a masterpiece, a delicious and enveloping aroma with the beauty and dignity of its era. It’s worth its weight in gold. If you love legendary ‘powerhouses’ and manage to grab a bottle, you’re taking home a treasure. It’s a must-have, almost iconic. I don’t know what else to say; I’m simply ecstatic. Rating: 10.
