Jean Patou founded his fashion house in Paris in 1914. During the crisis of 1929 he created Joy to relaunch the business; the perfume became one of the great commercial successes of perfumery and kept the name of the house alive for decades.
The fragrance archive also includes 1000 and other historical creations. Jean Patou's perfume activity is currently halted, although some references may be found in selected authorised points of sale. The Patou brand continues with women's fashion and accessories under the LVMH group.
