Sira des Indes by Jean Patou is a woody oriental fragrance for women. Launched in 2006, this composition was created by perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez. • I remember when it launched it was extremely expensive and could only be bought blind. I already owned Sublime and Joy, but didn’t want to risk trying something new without being able to test it first. A few weeks ago I found it in a clearance sale at 30% off its original value. Sira des Indes has grown on me; at first it seemed odd but interesting, then I loved it. The best thing is how it handles the creaminess of the milk, the sweetness of the banana and the exotic ylang-ylang alongside a vanillaised sandalwood. I wear it in summer or spring; you don’t have to limit yourself to light citrus or florals, this option is potent, long-lasting and its notes remind me of these seasons. The ylang-ylang is very well done and, although some say it smells of plastic, I absolutely love it.

I bought it blind and initially hated it. Once applied, the scent changes and becomes sweeter and more subtle, which I like, but on my skin it lasts at best four hours, so for the price, it’s not worth it. On clothes it projects more, but I only detect the sandalwood without the other ingredients. I won’t be buying it again.

I bought it blindly and it didn’t quite take to me at first, but as it developed it became sweet and subtle, which I like. The issue is that on my skin it lasts about four hours, which is too short for the price, although on clothes the sandalwood stands out more than the rest. I won’t be buying it again.

I bought it out of curiosity and it delivers: a very light EDP, almost skin-scented. It smells naturally of sandalwood, vanilla and orange blossom. It reminds me of Ungaro’s Femme, though this is softer. I was keen to try Jean Patou, but I wouldn’t recommend it. The only positive was that I caught it on offer for $24 with free shipping; otherwise, I would have returned it immediately. At times it smells like Dior’s Dolce Vita, but lighter.

I tried it out of curiosity about the notes. It’s a light and soft EDP, skin-scented, with a faint sandalwood, vanilla, and a very natural orange blossom. It doesn’t smell bad, but it reminds me of Femme de Ungaro, though that one is softer. I was hoping to try Jean Patou but I wouldn’t recommend it. The only good thing is that I grabbed it on offer for $24 with free shipping; otherwise, I would have returned it straight away. At times it smells like Dolce Vita by Dior but lighter.
