I bought this cologne blind because online reviews said it was fresh, and I was wrong. The top notes are citrusy and fresh, but once it dries down it smells bad, musty. I made a mistake because it has ginger in the name yet it smells like it repels that ingredient. It makes me feel sick. In the end, I didn’t gift it and keep it in a drawer, fearing my father might like it; I already gifted him a Chanel that smells wonderful, so I’m sure he won’t like this one.
I’ve tried several ginger scents and this one is heavily muddled; compared to an essential oil, it doesn’t even smell of ginger. The essential oil is deep, spicy, citrusy with a subtle woody note. Schlesser’s proposal is very commercial, pleasant but trite, smelling of fresh feminine floral-citrus. It could work well with white florals for women, but it is totally unisex. The scent is poorly constructed, smelling chemical and artificial. The notes on the website are illusory: there’s no lemon, ginger, pepper, or woods detectable. It’s artificial and the notes are undetectable. Up close it smells good because it’s commercial, but I don’t recommend it. I’ve had it for a year and used it less than ten times. It lacks personality.
Smells nice to me with a good citrus touch, but I expected more spice. In the end, it’s very weak, almost only suitable for post-shower use.
