Descripción
Nautica by Nautica is a woody chypre fragrance for men. Launched in 1992 by the Nautica brand, this composition was created under an olfactory direction that defines its fresh and marine character. The top notes unfold with aldehydes, lime, lemon, bergamot, neroli, cypress, tarragon, clary sage, coriander, and cinnamon. The heart of the fragrance reveals jasmine, cyclamen, geranium, rose, and caraway. Finally, the base notes settle with sandalwood, musk, cedar, oakmoss, patchouli, and amber.

It transports me back to my naval and nautical cadet days, when I wore Lagerfeld Photo, Shiseido Tactics, and Eternity, while my colleagues smelled of Lacoste and Obsession. We were immaculate, dating the misses, and visiting ships in warm areas. This fragrance was delicate, subtle, and had that nautical elegance described by azuriiita. I used it up in a jiffy and now I miss it to update my olfactory memory and recall those times of illusions and military youth. It’s an underrated jewel full of memories.
This fragrance transports me back to my naval cadet days. Back then, I wore Lagerfeld Photo, Shiseido Tactics (a bottle from the 80s with little liquid left), and Calvin Klein’s Eternity. My colleagues smelled of Lacoste (one officer literally soaked in it), Calvin Klein’s Obsession, and of course, this Nautica. We looked immaculate from tip to toe. Outside school, it was a parade of girls; even a future Miss Venezuela was a friend of a classmate. Plus, we sailed through warm port and coastal areas. Despite all the olfactory competition, I fondly remember this fragrance that honoured our future careers. I always found it delicate, subtle, and elegant, with that sporty/nautical touch described so well by azuriiita. Later, I was gifted a 35ml (or maybe 30ml, I can’t recall) bottle and used it up in a jiffy. Today, I plan to buy it again to update my olfactory memory and recall those times of illusions, projects, and active military youth. Fragrances are bottles full of memories. Today I want to analyse it note by note, as I do on this site. Another great underrated jewel of the industry.
It smells like my adolescence: cypress, coriander, citrus, patchouli, and cinnamon were my favourites. However, the current Coty version is disappointing; it’s not the 1992 one anymore. It smells of aldehydes with very poor rose and jasmine.
Bought it blind and it was a total mistake. For the price, you can’t expect much, but there are cheaper and better options. Of the described notes, only a few are noticeable; it smells more like soap than perfume, and I didn’t like it at all. Longevity and sillage are terrible.
Well, here in Colombia it’s hard to find, so I stumbled upon it in a shopping centre and bought it without hesitation. Nautica is my favourite house for price-to-quality ratio; for that price, the quality is good. The fragrance conveys that classic brand identity: cleanliness, holidays, the sea, and crystal-clear water, just like @ShiseidoTactics experienced with it. The dominant notes are aldehydes, giving it a slightly synthetic touch, but the citrus adds that nautical freshness, accompanied by coriander spices and a soft woody dry down. I bought it because it pairs well with Voyage; I think these two are the best from the house. Weather: summer. Scent: 8/10. Longevity: 8/10. Nice bottle. Recommended.
Well, here in Colombia it’s hard to find, so I stumbled upon it in a shopping centre and bought it without hesitation. To start: Nautica is my favourite house for price-to-quality ratio; for its low price, the quality is good. Regarding the fragrance, it conveys that identity that characterises Nautica: a sensation of cleanliness, holidays, the sea, and crystal-clear water. Additionally, it resembles the experience @ShiseidoTactics had with it, for which I give them my congratulations on that nice anecdote. Speaking of notes, aldehydes are predominant, which is why it feels slightly synthetic, alongside citrus that gives that nautical freshness, accompanied by coriander spices and a soft woody dry down. I also bought it because it pairs well with Voyage from the same brand; I think these two are the best from the house. Weather: summer. Scent: 8/10. Longevity: 8/10. Nice bottle. Recommended! Best regards.
Bought it because I liked the scent in the test; it was very soft and reminded me of the beach. The pity is that its longevity is almost 30 minutes and its sillage is very poor; I felt ripped off. I wouldn’t recommend it for future purchases. I exercise, and my pH changes, and ultimately, the shampoo scent lasted longer than this perfume, plus it’s more opaque.
Bought it because I liked it in the test; it smells soft and brings me back to the beach. However, the longevity is a disaster—barely 30 minutes, with almost no sillage. I felt ripped off. I wouldn’t recommend it for future purchases. Also, when I work out, my pH changes, and ultimately, the shampoo lasted longer than the perfume, which ends up smelling like soap.
The fragrance reminds me of one my wife wears; too feminine for my taste. It’s not that it smells bad, simply it doesn’t suit me. The trail is good, but the longevity is very short. In my opinion, the floral notes predominate over the citrus and wood, which is why the feminine touch is felt. Aroma 7/10, trail 7/10, longevity 5/10.
Rich marine scent but very soft and without a trail.
A very masculine fragrance, very woody, elegant, fresh and versatile. Definitely it’s among the best Nautica has to offer; I recommend it. It has an excellent trail and longevity; it can’t be missing from any fragrance lover’s collection. Hopefully they don’t discontinue it.
I love it. It’s true that its longevity and trail are very low, but I keep buying it, even in packs of two. It’s the only fragrance I worry about not having a backup of. Given its cost, don’t expect many hours of longevity.
Highly synthetic, with an annoying marine character. I have it because a brother of mine passed away and my mother gave it to me just as a keepsake, but the fragrance is unpleasant.
For me, this nautical fragrance is one of the most elegant. From the moment it’s sprayed, the notes of lime, cypress and bergamot stand out, well-balanced and accompanying you until it dries, clinging closely to the skin because its longevity is short. At the end, it feels mossy, woody and with green notes. It’s recommended for after a shower. I give it 5/10 because you must overapply it repeatedly if you want it to be noticeable.
A very rich classic.
It’s a good fragrance, fresh and clean. You just need to apply plenty of it so it lasts and you can tell you’re wearing it. Given its price and brand, it’s excellent, without a doubt. It shouldn’t be missing from your perfume collection.
It’s not a fantastic aroma, but it’s not bad either. It smells soapy, clean and is good for an outing without too much impact, such as going for a walk or visiting a friend to chat and laugh. It’s not sexy; it smells as if you’ve just had a bath. If you’re looking for something for daily use, I recommend it.
It’s not a fantastic scent, but it’s not bad either. It smells soapy, clean, and well, ideal for going out without too much impact, like going for a walk or visiting a friend to chat and laugh. It’s not sexy; it’s a scent that makes you feel freshly showered. If you’re looking for something for daily use, I recommend it.
A very rich fragrance. I must clarify that, like most nautical scents, it feels synthetic, but it’s pleasant—soapy, clean, and neat, with well-balanced floral notes creating an aura of an immaculate man. To last 6 hours, you need to apply it without regrets: about 15 sprays. Then it disappears after 3–4 hours. The sillage is short; it’s not a bomb, but it’s ideal for the office or for sport, perfect for those days when you don’t want to complicate things too much choosing a perfume.
It’s a very rich fragrance, though like most nautical scents, it has a synthetic touch, yet it’s pleasant, soapy, clean and neat. The floral notes are well-balanced and create an aura of an impeccable man. To make it last six hours, you must apply it without regrets, around 15 sprays; otherwise, it disappears in 3-4. The trail is short, not a bomb, but it’s ideal for the office, for sports or for those days when you don’t want to complicate things by choosing a perfume.
It was one of my first fragrances; I loved it without a second thought. At 14 or 15, I felt super sexy with that clean, youthful scent; it was a fundamental piece in my teenage conquests. You won’t find the elixir of life here, but if you want to smell rich on a day when you’re not doing much and don’t want to impress an entire room, then buy it without hesitation.
A very pleasant, summery, and versatile fragrance within its category, but extremely short-lived with poor projection. It’s something to bring on beach holidays or to the office to reapply every two hours, but its online price is between $12 and $15, so…
A fragrance that splits into two parts: one clean and slightly soapy, the other lightly sweet; at times it makes me think it has Invictus vibes. In a parallel universe where this fragrance had better longevity, it would be excellent for the office, school, teaching, or driving for an app; it would be perfect on several levels. You can wear it with a white shirt, casually, and always maintain that clean, slightly sweet, non-overpowering aspect. The reality is that, while the opening is a bit old school, I feel that as a nineties fragrance, anyone can wear it, but the uses would be quite limited: gym (air-conditioned), post-workout shower, or when hosting visitors or going to the supermarket, something that shouldn’t last beyond three hours. The initial projection will be strong, the second drops to skin-level and lasts about half an hour, perhaps a third phase, but nothing more. If you collect Nautica fragrances, this is the one that started it all, but for me, while I like it very much, its performance leaves much to be desired. As a note, it reminds me only of the soapy aspect of Perry Ellis 18.
The opening is strong and slightly irritable, but once you get past it, it reveals itself. A potent start with a pleasant, medium-length dry down that never gets boring; it leaves you feeling fresh. The finish is soft, delicious, and long-lasting. I sweat a lot, yet it persists on my skin from morning until 5 pm, with a bit more lingering on clothes. This super classic will never die; I used to find it too strong and synthetic, but if you give its evolution a chance, it becomes a citrusy, clean beast that doesn’t project wildly. When people get close, it smells incredibly delicious. I bought it as a daily fragrance, but I’ve noticed it’s not worth using up so quickly. It’s perfect for going out and smelling rich during warm seasons and in hot zones. It’s one of my favourite fragrances or grooming products for my dry, tropical climate. It’s running out soon, and I won’t hesitate to repurchase this Nautica Classic and finish off my Voyage faster. Nautica Classic is a masculine scent, while Voyage is more youthful, cheerful, and sweet. Good heavens, if you apply it to your arms where they meet the forearms and on your neck, ufff, it smells divine.
Clean, soapy, and mentholated, reminiscent of shaving products (gel, foam, aftershave). Does anyone else smell this?
The 2018 batch doesn’t last at all for me; after 16+ sprays, it barely lasts 2-3 hours. It smells very clean and soapy, like detergent, but rich.
Nautica Classic eau de toilette, a delicious, pleasant and soft fragrance with a clean, soap-like sensation, fresh and floral; on my skin, the jasmine really stands out. It’s a linear synthetic fragrance that I enjoy despite its short duration and moderate trail. To use it on warm days, you need to apply generously. Best regards.
My second fragrance from the nautical line; very fresh and aquatic, especially reminiscent of seawater with a mentholated touch. When I first bought it, I thought it wasn’t authentic because it didn’t last long on my skin. It gives the sensation of just getting out of the shower—very fresh and clean. Ideal for young people who want to wear a perfume for school or university.
I wear it as a soapy base for sleeping, or mix it with Nishane Ege during the day for pure glory. Twenty sprays underneath the clothes and on the neck, let it dry, then apply the niche version behind the ears and along the sides of the neck… WOW WOW! A clean marine explosion! I suppose it’s similar with other fresh marine scents, but on its own it’s not quite enough.
Soapy and fresh, but it doesn’t last long. Perfect for heading to the gym or straight after a shower.
I live on the coast with 32 degrees and this fragrance, although it lacks much projection or longevity, I see it as personal. Something you apply to feel fresh for about 3 or 4 hours. The clean scent is very pleasant and the short duration is a plus, because if you need to go out to something formal, you can remove it easily.
Nautica Classic lasts less than a breath. You put on 20 sprays and it lasts less than an hour. It smells like soap; it’s for after your bath.
Smells like cheap soap, 3/10.
Not worth it for me: terrible longevity, bad aroma, and even worse projection. Longevity 1, Aroma 4.5, Projection 1.5.
Verdict: smells good, though I suspect it was stale in the shop. Smelled it on someone else and it’s more than acceptable and marine. On my skin, it smelled well, although I think people prefer Voyage or the Blue. The longevity was good. At one point, I smelled plastic bags. I recommend it for collection or variety; in bulk, it comes from $12 for 100 ml. Among brands, only Antonio Banderas beats it in its 200 ml presentations at $20.
Reminds me of coumarin or tonka bean, very similar to cinnamon but stronger. It blends brilliantly with that powdery musk, the bergamot, and the wood notes.
At first, it smells like window cleaner with a strong plastic whiff. The wood is minimal; it’s more aquatic. Depending on the batch, sometimes it smells of patchouli. It was cheap, mass-produced, and a nineties adventure, without being a clone or standing out.
If you catch it on sale, it smells ‘okay’, but not as much as others. There are better options and it doesn’t last: on my skin, it lasted between one and an hour and a half.
Light and not suitable for all climates; at night if you overdo it, only the scent remains, but it’s fine during the day. Ideal if you have nothing for gift exchange.
Pure herbal wood with an ammonia edge; very mid-range at the end.
